hmmm what We did what
Fowler has a NTC and likely doesn’t waive for Toronto. He’s close to 1,000 games and is likely going to stay a Duck for the rest of his career.

Can we stop kidding ourselves with Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Carleton</b></div><div>He's only really the second RD on the team because we don't have one. He's not good against top comp which is why he can't be trusted to play with Mo and help bail out his defensive collapses. His metrics are average across the board and isn't the greatest. Likely reached his peak by now.
I'm not opposed to moving him unless it's for an UPGRADE. Lateral moves don't help. This one is a lateral move.
Ideally, he's a good 3RD on a team with an actual top 4 not comprised of bottom feeding dmen.</div></div>
He's 24 and has a coach that wants to scape goat him constantly. He's a good player and will get better. Gotta keep him.

Can we also stop trading Liljegren? He's a top 4 defenceman on a playoff team. He's the 2nd best defenceman on the Leafs. He's not a problem.

I think marner may have to come to reality and accept more like a Nylander contract at 11 or 11.5 to get signed.

If we were to trade Marner to where
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>The arguments ppl have will not sway my point. Again if people learn to read. I don't expect a single trade above to happen nor come close. The point to show what Toronto will need in return. The other team is most likely giving a F$ no. This proving the point that a Marner trade is most likely not happening.</div></div>
He has one year on deal
He has $10.9m AAV
He has history of making negotiations painful
He has full NMC
If they found a trade partner, it would likely be closer to what Taylor Hall returned when Buffalo dealt him to Boston. Just take a 2nd, mid prospect and spend the cap space elsewhere.

Vegas - Barbashev, Hague or Whitecloud, and Hill. Leafs should target 2 of 3 of those players. Hill has 1 year left and Vegas may decide to move on.
Anaheim is building a great young core, they have young mobile defense, big bodies up front whose style will compliment's Marner like McTavish and Gauthier. They'll be ready to win soon. Marner will fit in there and be a leader on that team point wise.

You really think NJ would trade Hughes for Marner? And then adding on top of that? :tearsofjoy
All of these trades are so far off his actual value, which is a lot lower than you think

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>Exactly the point. Leafs Marner for a defenseman and they lose 80-100 points plus on offense, whom can we then afford on FA to replace about 60-80 in the top six? Trade Marner for another 80-100 point forward, does it really change much. Trade Marner for a 1st, prospect and middling forward, whom to we sign or trade for with the pick add to our defense and replace him.</div></div>
This is what i call empty offence. I wouldnt trade Brady Tkachuk for someone like Bratt or Marner no matter how many more pts they get than him.

Wait....I take that back. I just looked at Kellers production and contract and defensive prowess which is very similar to Marner minus the extra 4mil/year with adding Durzi this deal would not fly.
Good luck Toronto breaking up the core!

Updated Summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>Would not go as far as upgraded summer, but could be a potentially good roster. I actually like the amadio contract. Goaltending could be a better to improve as we can look to trade Kampf, Jarnkrok or demote Reaves to clear 1.1 million. This could allow us to sign a better goaltender to be backup with us and with better potential is Woll fails.</div></div>
I called it upgraded summer as my last One was ‘full summer of Brad’ I was referencing that as I updated with feedback I received

Not enough for Armadio. He has been putting up solid numbers for a few years now. I can see him getting 1.5-2.25m a year. If we got him at 825k, that would be a steal, I just don't see it.
I worry about our goaltending here. I really like Reimer and Woll but I would still worry. Storlarz is the guy that I want. Woll + Stolarz (2m x 2 years) + Reimer maybe?
Roy would be a perfect add though and I agree with your contract. 6m x 5 years would be my perfect scenario but I doubt that happens. Demelo could work also, but he would be cheaper. Worst case, a guy like Tanev. Maybe Demelo and Tanev, instead of Lyubuskin + Roy for similar money.
Either way this team has a lot of solid options and SHOULD look pretty good next year. Good job :)</div></div>
I’m high on stolarz, but I know he will have a lot of interest in the upcoming offseason and I’m afraid teams will pay a premium for him.
Thanks for the kind words & feedback!

Just a twiddling thought as odds are Marner is resigned
OTT only does it if it includes Knies which I know TOR won’t do, I wouldn’t if I was them either, Knies is like Greig for them & he’s untouchable

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>That is an odd trade between division rivals that could work both sides. Batherson is a less points version of Marner but still very good to help the leafs, chychrun gives that 4 four DMan. Chychrun is also a pending fa which gives extra value for Ottawa as long as an agreement was in place to resign Marner!
So value wise makes sense and depending on Ottawa signing to replace chychrun can make them a playoff team. That being said, it is a fantasy trade as commented. The odds of the two divisional rivals doing this is slim!</div></div>
In general divisional rival trades are not great except at the TDL and if its for rentals. When terms involved and involving these kinds of players GM's know its best not to help eachother
In Debrincat's case what could OTT do he tied their hands and DET had the best offer. If they could Debrincat would be no where near DET and would probs be in another division entirely.
Like the last thing TOR or OTT want is to miss the playoffs because they helped the other guy. If both knew they were out by TDL thats fine but its gonna be a warzone next season where I see DET, OTT, and BUF making very strong pushes to yeet someone out of the spots or to secure both WC

Since public enemy number 1 has to be traded now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>There are options I agree, the problem is not the availability as we would need a top 6 and a top 4 it's that which team would trade such player as a player like reinbacher is a future move but yes he looks to be a stud. That is where the problem lies teams prefer to trade a 1st, a top 5 prospect not top 2, and a middling forward whom can maybe use a change of scenery. This is not what Toronto needs for Marner. marner is worth a quality top 6 forward and a high quality top 4 rhd and I am sure all teams would agree. That does not mean those team will also be willing to trade such as such a trade can mess with their chemistry and makeup.</div></div>
I think if the Leafs were to move Marner... I think it would be for a top 4 RHD and picks/prospects...

I’d probably go:
Tkachuk-Pinto-Marner
Greig - Stutzle - Giroux
Just unsure about the playoffs with both Marner and Stutzle
