Vancouver revamps the Defense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Even if letang resigns the penguins will still need to replace marino, and that wont come for free. If we resign letang and trade marino for a pick then our second best RHD is Chad Ruhwedel</div></div>
I get ya but you're probably not going to get a RD back in a trade for Marino anyways and as I said Pens have been reported in shopping him and Pettersson around.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>httpsthehockeywriterscompenguins-trade-likely-to-include-marino-pettersson</b></div><div>"Pittsburgh Penguins general manager (GM) Ron Hextall is happy to admit a couple of things as we approach the March 21 trade deadline. He likes his team and is comfortable standing pat, but if he’s able to do anything it would be to upgrade his forward group. In order to do so, look for him to move out either defenseman John Marino or Marcus Pettersson."</div></div>
this article makes it seem like its more of a hockey trade type of deal. Defenseman for a Winger or something. It makes sense,
I'm doubtful the Canucks are going to trade Boeser though given his year was wrought with personal issues in dealing with his Dad's illness and eventual passing (<3 all the best to the Boeser's and to those who knew Duke Boeser)
Garland kind of makes sense here but I like Garland so would be a little dissappointed from that trade and my guess is that it would have to include more on the Pens side of things given the production and 5on5 value that Garland has is pretty good.
Other than that maybe Hogslander + pick?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>
Pittsburgh is in win now mode. Why would they trade a top 4 dman for a second round pick? Especially with their being a possibility of Kris Letang leaving
</div></div>
Well presumably clearing out 4m in space would give that extra room to resign Letang. In all honestly Letang is much more important to the Pens than Marino is. With him gone who is going to run the PP unit ? Marino likely isn't the answer there.
I'm sure Letang is priority #1 for the Pens after Rust was signed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>The Schneider for the 9th overall was not at all for your proposed trade for Miller.
Schneider had YEARS of control.....Miller has ONE. Absolutely crazy for a lottery team to even consider.</div></div>
As mentioned in prior responses, the Canucks will likely allow teams to negotiate a contract in faith prior to the trade

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yotes269</b></div><div>If that’s all it takes to get Theodore the yotes just make that deal themselves and then flip him for higher picks in the coming years. I doubt Vegas has any interest in trading their best defender on a team friendly deal though</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Angusc</b></div><div>Takes a lot more to get Theodore</div></div>
Yeah I concede the he's probably out of the Canucks price range if they want more than that... (which they likely do)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Pitt declines</div></div>
Marino is an odd one to me, he seems to do alot right but his points do not shine through and pittsburg management is reported to be keen on shipping him out.
So the general framework is likely a RD defensive puck moving defensemen with no powereplay aspirations. I don't think his worth reaches a 1rst since he is making 4m+ which is likely a fair contract, not overpaid nor underrpaid. Perhaps we add a mid level prospect or later round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BubbleDemko</b></div><div>I like that you are thinking JTM for the second overall but seeing Miller is only signed for one more year I think Canucks need to add to the deal . Maybe adding their first round pick also or Garland. I do like Juraj Slafkovsky and would be okay with that.</div></div>
Well, I'd bet the canucks would let teams negotiate terms prior to a trade, although the contract cant be signed until sometime in july so it'd be under some sort of assumptions.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TampaBayLightning22</b></div><div>No sane GM is giving up the 15th overall pick for the 30th overall pick and the 31st overall pick respectively.
That's not even in the ballpark for Shea Theodore, You want Theodore you need to offer up much better than your offer.
Any why would J. T. Miller waive for a rebuilding club? Noway i see Miller waiving for New Jersey.</div></div>
Yeah I concede on the Theodore trade... likely not enough even in trying to take advantage of their cap situation
dropping 15 spots is quite a bit... last year Detroit traded their #14 overall for a #22, #47 and #137
I'm not sure what the math here on picks are but I guess the question is if #15 -> #30 & #32 is equal to #14 -> #22 & #47 & #137
maybe not but it's probably not THAT far off :p
in 2019 Coyotes traded up to #11 for #14 & #45 for #11 sooo they traded a second round pick to move up 3 spots...
Each draft year the values of dropping down or moving up probably changes but hey this is the info we got to work with here.
J.T. Miller doesn't have any NTC or any other clauses. NJD is also not a rebuilding team. They are kinda like Ottawa in that they are sick of amassing prospects and need to start complimenting and making a team around their good young players, I'm sure they are going to make some big time pitches to their target players... whether JT Miller is one of their target players I'm not sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYRxLundqvist</b></div><div>That’s like saying trade howden for ovi because he’s a ufa and much older???? 🤦♂️🤦♂️</div></div>
You know funny enough Boeser and Zibanejad both had the same stat lines this year.
I would think their value is fairly similar since Boeser is younger and RFA and pretty much was a 50ish point guy (baked in with injuries). That said Zibanejad is an elite top6 forward yet I think either club has no real reason to do this trade and I doubt NYR would want to trade away their veteran top6 center away

Canucks - Reinhart Foote Pre-Expansion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory0923</b></div><div>As a Sabres fan I'd be fine with that return for Sam. However, he's gonna get way more than a 6×6. 6×8 seems more realistic</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeautifulIdiot</b></div><div>Dont think that Reinhart is worth 2 1st and a b prospect. I'd do a mid round 1st, a 3rd and a c prospect. I do like the foote trade tho, Not sure they would go for just a 2nd but like the idea</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sorry to break your bubble, but no way is Seattle selecting Myers. Don't see why Tampa would do that trade. That's a lot to give up for Reinhart....especially if can hold you hostage and not sign with Canucks long term unless you massively overpay him. Gee, Reinhart wants out of Buffalo, is the Canucks his dream team? I doubt it.</div></div>
Think my general proposal was mis-construded... It's a single 1rst round pick with a condition that it becomes the year after if its a lottery pick, at least something along the lines... in short Woo (probably a B+ prospect) and a single 1rst round pick. I suspect I lowballed him on his contract... I sorta hoped he would sign for less in his hometown
The main thing with Cal Foote is he needs to be protected at the expansion draft... There's not many teams that have a slot to protect a defenseman so this gives tampa an out to get a high 2nd rd pick for him... Honestly he's got the upside but doesn't have much experience so it's not like he's a stud
Lastly on Seattle selecting Myers... Honestly there's not much on the Canucks to choose from... Myers contract is too long and probably a million too much but it's not horrid, he's still a good and useful player. It's either a guaranteed NHLer in Myers or some middling prospects in Lind/Gadjovich
I haven't given up on them but they haven't really shown that they are going to be any kind of NHLer as of yet

Vancouver Ekblad and OEL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>What a terrible trade for Arizona if it's anything like that. I know that's the going rate in here, but it's garbage.
Florida you're sending quality.
Then why is Ottawa taking Roussel and Baertschi was on waivers. If not taken then I think a 3rd is not enough</div></div>
The Arizona trade is kind of what is reported is to what it would look like. Arizona wants money gone and OEL has a 2 team trade list. This gives them poor leverage and poor leverage equates to less than desirable return.
The Baertschi thing, taking a player off waivers costs money, in this case a 3rd round pick equates to the money spent. Although I do think Baertschi is a worthwhile player to take a chance on, specifically if he has 1 year left rather than 2. Anyways if Marc Staal costed a 2nd for 3.7m dollars then Baertschi at 2.4m dollars at a 3rd round pick makes sense...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kosterjr</b></div><div>Boeser, spare parts and a first in 2 years doesn’t get you a top RHD signed long term, not even remotely close.</div></div>
Well Gaudette and Stecher are definitely roster players so not sure if I'd call them spare parts. Gaudette in particular has upside to be a 2nd line center or a 3rd line scoring center. He may never be a top tier 2nd liner but I believe his floor is at the least 3rd line.

Canucks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>Besides the awful trades.....it all makes sense. Rebuilding Arizona gives a second rounder, about 33 overall for Sbisa. JVR for not much, cap strapped Detroit wouldn't take Vrbata and give up a first rounder, one year Hamhuis for a first rounder?</i></div></div>
Vrbata and Hamhuis are probably worth close to a first rounder... at the trade deadline to a contender, but not right now... Also have no clue how the Canucks got 2 top 5 picks.... Chychrun and Puljujärvi ???
I'm also high on McCann so whether or not the value is equal (Vey and McCann + 3rd for Van Riemsdyk ) doesn't matter because I think Canucks would rather keep the prospects they have atm.
