<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>They need to clear cap and this kind of move involving Puljujarvi is likely the only type they can pull off without having to pay assets (Foegele and Barrie being the alternatives). Sure, each player has value in a normal and rational market but the current isn't that.

As they'd free up ~2mil, this would allow them the space to add someone like Kessel to further bolster the team. Lastly, while he's far from a proven asset, Zadina is among the best available, plausible options for a Puljujarvi trade. His particular skillset (adept shooter with some two-way acumen) is one that fits alongside EDM's C depth and could provide him the right conditions to breakout. I also specifically like that his default position is on his off-wing (a mirror to Hyman).

Your mileage may vary based on your perception of Zadina and your valuation of the assets it would take to clear cap space by other means.</div></div>

What would it take to move Foegele? A 3rd? A 2nd? So I guess you need to weigh over if Puljujarvi is worth more than Foegele + a pick... which for me is an easy choice. Before getting COVID last year Puljujarvi was the team's 4th leading scorer with a stat line of 28, 10-13-23 +7, on pace for 29 goals and 67 points. If he's fully recovered there's no question that he's worth far, far more than Foegele + pick, or Zadina + McIsaac. I mean, would Detroit trade Zadina + McIsaac for Foegele + 2nd? There's your answer right there.
