Trading Broberg & not resigning McLeod are major mistakes.
Murray is not durable enough to play the whole season let alone go on a deep cup run.
Koekkoek wont be anywhere near the team this yr.... possibly not even down in the A
Malone will see more minutes in the lineup before Shore will.
The islanders dont do that trade, not saying the value isnt fair but they have no need for a right shot dman like Barrie, for essentially the same reason the Oilers no longer need him with the emergence of Bouch- They have Dobson.

-I think the value's more or less there without the Rangers adding a pick - Broberg/Foegele for Chytil would be even, to me. But I don't think the Rangers make the move because they'd be trading away from a weak position for them - they really don't have a ton of C depth currently. They'd be throwing Barclay Goodrow in at 3C, I'd assume, and maybe running with a guy currently in the AHL as 4C? But I don't think it makes sense to pull from a weak position at this point for them.

-If anyone's adding a pick to a potential Mayfield-Barrie trade, it is most certainly not the Islanders. Replacing Mayfield with Barrie is replacing a $1.45M guy who's playing RD3 for them with a $4.5M man who would still be playing RD3 (no unbiased observer would claim that Barrie would push Ryan Pulock or Noah Dobson out of RD1/2.) If you want to save just over $3M in cap space (which you clearly need to move to ice a 23 man roster), then Edmonton has to be the one adding value to the deal, and it would probably have to be something significant based on how inflated the value of cap space has been this summer.

-Why are you paying to dump Klefbom? Isn't he basically on LTIR permanently now? You're already using LTIR with Mike Smith, so it's not like you're clearing everything off the books and accruing deadline space by getting rid of Klefbom, so save the 2nd rounder and just let his deal run out after this year.

mayfield's lower cap hit + less term for the 3RD role means isles decline unless the oilers offer something more substantial.

Not a chance Edmonton does this deal. Holland already refused to include Broberg in a potential Chychrun deal, no way he's sending him out for a 4th liner. That's laughable. Foegele scores more and the cap hits aren't that different, not sure Edmonton would do a Foegele-Chytil deal 1 for 1.


Yeah, totally agree here. There's no logic applied at all to this. Nevermind that Klefbom's deal wasn't insured and Arizona is the poorest team in the league... there's no reason either team would consider this for a second.

I think it's a deal where both sides say no. I think Chytil has more value than Foegele (center>winger, 23 > 26, RFA > UFA) so Edmonton would need to add something to a 1-for-1, but I didn't know Broberg was that highly valued in Edmonton. I still think the Rangers would put a higher value on Chytil than you're giving him here, though, just based on the fact that there's not a lot in their system that they can pull up to replace him currently.

Broberg was their 8th overall pick not long ago and is ahead of Klefbom at the same age, suffice to say they value him very, very highly. He's not moving for anything less than a Lafreniere-type return.
