best/worst trades of the decade...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ab33champ</b></div><div>Just a simple blues fan here so I won’t try to comment on all these, but two questions:
Which of the Bishop trades would you say worked out? And
Are you saying the Blues overpaid for Schenn?</div></div>
1. The trade where his rights were traded to Dallas
2. Yes, absolutely. It's one of the parts that got them the cup, but I'm still not a fan of the trade.

Parayko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oiler3535</b></div><div>As I said, there's zero chance of getting the top 5 guys (including Tavares should go without saying). For this, I was assuming the rumours of discussions are true. If true, something else has to be considered. So instead of trolling 'this is BS', throw out other possibilities.</div></div>
There have been like 50 proposals from both sides in the past 2 weeks alone. So that's why most people don't feel the need to throw out possibilities.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>As a Leafs fan who is very much against moves like this, I'll say a few words here.
1) This trade is ridiculous, its way too many assets for a young guy who so far has looked like a very good 2nd pairing guy so far (Yes he has a lot of upside)
2) St Louis should be thrilled to add some depth wingers but they won't be. The reason being, they spent a lot of FA money on getting depth winger guys who are over priced and will under perform. Perron isn't worth nearly 5 million, Bozak isn't nearly as good as fans think he's going to be, Steen is declining, Maroon is at best a bottom 6 winger. So fans and management think they are set, which means they see guys who aren't going to help the team being exchanged for a guy who will help the team.
3) The only way this trade will ever happen is if one team bends and gets completely wrecked in an unfair trade, TO will either give up way too much or St Louis will let him go for a terrible return. I don't see either team doing that. There just isn't the right timing for this, TO because of cap issues and ST because they kind of need to keep him, their defence is aging and may not be as solid as it once was and losing Parayko will be a huge loss to the team.
In conclusion, St Louis fans tone it down, Parayko isn't a Norris trophy calibre defenceman, you aren't getting Nylander, Liljegren and a 1st for him. TO fans settle down, you aren't getting him for a collection of spare parts and on top of that, he isn't needed. The cost to obtain will take away a lot of depth, future assets or Nylander all of which will be prohibitive of the future development of the team.
Stop it with this nonsense there is no smoke here and where there is no smoke, there isn't a fire. NO TRADE BETWEEN THESE TEAMS WILL HAPPEN.</div></div>
Perron is def worth $4 mill. Bozak is only 3 years, it's an overpay but fine. We barely paid Maroon anything. We have a ton of quality prospects coming up who have top 6 potential, hence why we don't need players like Kapanen or Bracco. Gardiner is a LD which we have tons of.
You're right in that it would take an overpay for Parayko. The Blues view him as a #1 d type and he's right on the cusp. He's a top pairing guy on a lot of teams. No one said Norris worthy, but it's not like Nylander is a hart or ross worthy either.

Blues with Maroon 2
I think that if we sign Maroon, we need to trade Steen. I don't want to be paying 9 mil between two slow middle-six wingers. I'd say pick one of them and hope Fabbri returns to form. If Fabbri doesn't return to form, you can always trade for a scoring winger at the deadline.

Which Team do you think will have the best offseason?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Did you even look at the link I provided? its straight from this site......
In what universe are the Hawks NOT going to LTIR Hossa? that is ridiculous.....
1. Hawks can spend 10% over the cap in the off-season, and Bowman will do exactly that.
2. Hossa will be placed on LTIR on the first day of the regular season, hence getting the Hawks cap compliant.
It's that simple... This isn't opinion, this isn't hope or homerism - this is FACT...
What is it with some of you posters ....... You're all like But, but, but, but there has to be some way Hossa goes against the cap NOW and during the regular season.... I get it, it's what you want - you want the Hawks to have significant cap issues because you hate the Blackhawks, but your wishful thinking is just that - wishful thinking..
Hossa's contract is an issue for the Hawks no more......I could see the Hawks trading him to a team at the cap floor but only for some sort of asset coming back..
The Hawks will have around 20 million to make improvements...... I mean, some of the guys presently taking up cap space on the roster probably wont be on the team next season (or start the season in Chicago)...
These 16 players are the only ones guaranteed to make the team, and with a cap at 80M the Hawks will have $15,375,705 and yes, that includes HInostroza, Hayden and Duclair re-signed.
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/edit/726337">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/edit/726337</a>
So the Hawks have $15,375,705 to fill 9 spots which is basically 1.7M per roster spot... And there will be several players that make the team with cap hits way less than that...
And lets not forget Anisimov is going to be traded so, who knows what Bowman gets out of that - he will either get more cap space or get players that can improve the team...
The Hawks will be much improved next season.</div></div>
<a href="/users/HawksFan28" target="_blank">@HawksFan28</a> Anything new to report here? This team is going to be a legitimate Cup contender, right?

Early 2018-19 predictions?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Funny how I'm a Hawks fan and you're trying to tell me how much cap space the Hawks have , lol...... Depending on where the salary cap ends up, the Hawks will have between 16.5 and 18.5 million+...... And I have demonstrated this in numerous threads......
And that 16.5-18.5 isn't even taking into account roster moves and trades.... There are a few defenseman presently on the roster that wont be on the team next season, not to mention Anisimov will be traded and his cap hit is 5 so a potential trade there will fix one of the Hawks problems.
But honestly, I look forward to you and your ilk crying this season about how "lucky" the Hawks are... How the Hawks should be "punished" for that Hossa contract...</div></div>
If the league grants full relief for this contract, something is wrong. It’s no different from the Franzen contract, Clarkson contract, Bolland contact or Horton contract. It’s a disgrace if the league allows it, period. There is no argument you can make that proves you to be correct when there are all these current examples of contracts that have 0 relief.
The team needs a top pairing defenseman, second pairing defenseman, top six winger, and a bottom six forward. Not to mention a stacked Central division featuring Nashville and Winnipeg with Colorado on the rise, as well as Dallas, St. Louis and Minnesota being perennial contenders. And if you trade Anisimov, you just need a replacement player for him, which costs money.
I’m done arguing with you about it, and when the Hawks are out of the playoffs again, we’ll see what excuse you pull for this bad season from them

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Yes, I know the odds of that aren't very high (Wahlstrom stepping right into the NHL) - that was a bold prediction but why not make it? and for the sake of argument - Ever hear of Mathew Barzal?
I will tell you what is accurate tho - the Hawks will have 100+ points next season and I look forward to all the Hawks haters cry about it because that's exactly what's going to happen..
You ever see Wahlstrom play with Jack Hughes? well Jack Hughes is basically a clone of Patrick Kane.... If Wahlstrom can put up points with Hughes then he can put up points with Kane and Schmaltz..
lol, and I could care less who you take seriously..</div></div>
Matt Barzal was drafted two years before entering the NHL. Nobody has had that type of rookie season as a teenager since Ovechkin/Crosby in ‘04-‘05.
You have no idea how ridiculous you sound. It’s gotten to the point where the Hawks fans are getting so defensive because they have too many overpaid players to contend for a Cup. They need a top pairing defenseman and another top four, not sure where these guys are supposedly coming from. Also factor in the forwards that need to be added and there’s nowhere near enough money to actually fill these holes dude

But in all seriousness, you realize how insane that is. A rookie drafted 8th overall is going to step right into the NHL and be almost a point per game player. I didn’t take anything you said seriously before, but this is just the icing on the cake

I don’t think giving up a guy who could be a better center then ROR in 3 years, plus next years first round draft pick is helping the depth though. With Schenn already there I would just wait it out and not give up a young elite piece for a 27 year old second line center that makes 7.5 million a year.

Acceptable Panarin trades
My concern is if Panarin won't sign an extension this year with CBJ, he probably won't sign an extension with any team... I think his goal is to hit free agency and get a huge payday, not to jump teams. So I'm starting to think that the most teams will pay is the rental price. For superstars, it's damn near impossible to figure out that value, but most teams won't give up their best players and their best prospects for 1 year.

He has one year left on his contract, so you are going to get rental prices, not one-for-one prices, and other teams know that Columbus is behind the eight-ball. They have to do something, or lose him for nothing. Both of those things mean that none of these scenarios can happen. I understand your thinking about talent levels, but you need to consider context. Columbus is not in a situation to win this trade. Its lose the trade by less than just losing him altogether.
