Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones... again, did you even read my last post? Georgiev isn't a veteran, interesting as he's played about 100 games, more than 33 games in two seasons, once during a shortened season. He could easily be a starting goalie on about 10 NHL teams today plus is leaps and bounds better than your AHL goalie and someone who is literally on his last leg. The point is you want to field a competitive team with some of your young core players that I assume your GM intends to build around (Dahlin, Thompson, Mittelstadt, and Cozens). Georgiev will definitely make the Sabres more competitive today, if you want to debate that I honestly am going to question how much of Georgiev, Dell, and Anderson you watched in the last two years. It's about having a goalie in net that gives you a chance to win games, Ullmark did that for you, having Geogiev would provide the Sabres a chance to field a competitive team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>No doubt- everything about the Buch trade was/is disappointing...and for that to be one of Drury's first big decisions did't help. But there are a lot of questions we'll never have an answer to: mainly how far apart were he and NYR; and what other offers were out there for Buch- who was arb eligible, coming off a big year, and able to go UFA in a year. As far as the return- Blais is no Buch- but many hockey guys think he can be a real contributor- and may have another gear in what he brings. And the 2nd round pick (should they keep it) may very well be a pick in the 40's or 50's in a supposedly very deep draft.
As far as Tinordi- the guy really isn't an NHL player...when NYR play Wash opening night in addition to the new guys, Kreider, Trouba, and Lindgren will be playing...hopefully along with Goodrow and Blais the physical component is already in the lineup...otherwise dress Tinordi as a 7D and go with 11F in games where his presence is needed...Hopefully his services are better put to use in Hartford as a protective measure for our youngins who we need to develop in what can be a bloodbath in the AHL.</div></div>
Blais has never played more than 40 games in a season, I hope he turns out to be a quality 4th liner, but giving away a 1st line player who was probably the best all around player last season is a hard pill to swallow when you got the same thing we got for Lias Anderson plus Blais.
Tinordi was clearly signed to be the 7th man and will be dressed when we play teams like Washington, Islanders, Bruins, etc. He is why we won't be trading for Reeves. I am still curious if we somehow end up with Ritchie... we shall see.

When did I say they aren't tanking? Are you even reading my posts, clearly not. Having a non competitive team with young kids who you expect to be part of the future core is extremely dangerous in breeding a losing mentality. It's the reason why the Rangers didn't just tank and kept useful veterans along with actual NHL players to play with kids. Play a team full of scrubs with Dahlin, Cozens, Thompson, and Mittelstadt, I am sure they will push jump ship as soon as they can like Eichel.

I know 2.45 million may be a bit rich for such a frugal organization to pay for someone who could be a starter on at least ten other NHL teams, but hey spend your money on Skinner, Okposso, Butcher, and Eakins while surrounding kids with a bunch of scrubs, it will work out great! You won't become the next Edmonton Oilers filled with tons of high end talent a culture of losing, no defense, and no goaltending. If you think Georgiev isn't a vast improvement over Anderson and Dell, I have to question if you have even been watching hockey the past few years?

Eichel
As much as we love Hank, he will not be coming back. The second Igor has a bad game, Hank chants will start and it will be detrimental, plus I am sure Hank wants a new chapter. Hajek will likely be traded with Nemeth and Tinordi here now. If Strome can get a first sign me up but I don't see the Habs paying that price. Lastly, the Eichel trade, change the 3 seconds to a 1st and that's Drury's best offer. Adams overplayed his hands, teams are dropping out and making other moves, no need to overpay for an injured player who may need surgery and a 10 million cap hit, unless the Sabres want to retain salary (which they seem unwilling to do).

Only if we had traded ADA after getting swept in the bubble, as we all knew Nils was coming here eventually. I find it hard to believe we couldn't have gotten a 2nd and 3rd for the defenseman with the 4th highest points in the league that season, instead we got an 800 K cap hit next season and nothing. If Nils is what he projects to be, we never should have kept ADA in the first place, sell high and his value was never going to be higher.

The Buch trade was bad, I won't deny it... but Adams hasn't traded Eichel yet so I wouldn't be so fast to talk to about bad deals as there aren't many teams that can take Eichel unless the Sabres agree to retain salary. Adams overplayed his hand and should never have kept Eichel past the draft. Also Tinordi is only in the lineup to fight Wilson! Let's get that straight ha.

Tanking for 4 months... seems like you have been tanking for the last ten years. Sure playing with a bunch of AHL players will be great for the development of Dahlin, Cozens, and Mittelstadt. Might be useful to have a goalie who could actually help you be competitive, but what do us Rangers fans know about rebuilding.

I really like how things are being set up for Nils, 3rd pair with a stay at home Swedish veteran d-man... he should get favorable matchups and not be thrust into PK duty or going against 1st or 2nd lines. He should excel, I am praying he is the Zubov to Fox being our Leetch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Forbesy</b></div><div>That's a nice package for eichel, unfortunately he isn't going to get close to that. Adam's waited to long to deal him and now he pinned himself against free agency. A lot of the teams that maybe had the cap space to add 10mill have now filled out their rosters, which takes out a potential bidding war. My question is would he really keep eichel for another year if he doesn't get exactly what he wants.</div></div>
As Forbesy said, Adams waited too long. Rangers just signed Nemeth to pair with Lundkvist, a kid who some are saying is the best defensive prospect in the league, he only broke all of Hedman and Karlsson's under 20 records in the SHL. He isn't being traded.
For Kakko to be traded the Sabres will need to retain salary, taking far less of a return, and that seems to be the sticking point from what I've heard. Likely some combination (3-4 pieces) of Chytil, Georgiev, Jones, Kravstov and a 1st are all that's being offered at this point. Just a matter if Sabres will go into this season with an unhappy captain, I can't see that happening, whether they trade him to use or someone else.

Completely agree, however Kuemper just fetched a first while Fleury went for nothing... goalies are voodoo when it comes to assessing trade value especially in a flat cap world. Drury is posturing, but he'd be foolish to refuse a 2nd and a 4th.

I wouldn't have an issue with him playing on the 3rd line. He'd get very favorable matchups and I thought he looked good at times with Chytil, throw Goodrow on that line and they should be able to create chances, chip in offensively with some offensive production, cycle down low, and be effective defensively.

Yeah, he's no Aaron Dell or your 40 year old goalie who will have a GAA of over 4 on your team. Georgie isn't going to be the next Hasek but he is much better than what you have currently and it's not like he's overpaid... he's just making a bit much for a back-up.

We shall see, but I'd be shocked if Goodrow isn't on the 3rd line at least. One of Kreider or Kravstov is not getting top 6 minutes, as Bread, Laf and Kakko are locked in. So either Kravstov gets dealt, or he or Kreider end up on the 3rd line. If we go for balance Goodrow-Chytil-Kravstov would be my prediction. If we want to have 3 lines that can score, similar to 2014 Kreider-Chytil-Goodrow is a very strong 3rd line.

I would drive Georgiev to the airport myself to make this trade happen. It's out there that Georgiev requested a trade, so Drury has no chance of getting a first as he lost some leverage. I think this is fair for NYR and gives Georgie a chance to win a starting job.

Besides the fact the Rangers don't make that trade mortgaging almost the equivalent of an entire draft year, what happens when Adam Fox is due a raise from 900 K next season to 9 million to lock him up long term? Plus Kakko, Blais, and oh yeah Mika need new deals. Pass on Tarasenko, he's not needed here.

So you have a top line of Laf - Mika - Kravstov? Not sure Kravstov is ready for top line minutes just yet and there has been a lot of talk of Laf switching to right wing so Kreider stays on the top line.
Goodrow isn't making 3.6 million to play on our 4th line.

Rangers don't need another physical winger, we just got Goodrow, Blais and Hunt. A 2nd and a 4th would suffice for Georgiev IMO, but Drury is rumored to want a 1st.

Gauthier isn't a 4th liner, he needs to play with skilled players in order for him to be useful. I don't see him edging out Goodrow or Kravstov to be on the 3rd line and he certainly shouldn't be edging out anyone on the first two lines. I believe the Rangers are trying to make a 4th line similar to the 2014 cup run, Dorsett/Carcillo - Boyle -Moore, hard to play against, good defensively and physical. Barron/Hunt - Rooney - Blais can accomplish that, putting Gautheir on that line changes the entire dynamics.

The Rangers will not be trading for Okposo to buy him out with 2 years left on his deal... they have enough dead money on the books and they finally start to get out from under it next year. The best option is to get a 3rd team involved willing to retain money on Eichel to get draft picks or prospects, Ottawa and the Wings come to mind as they are under the cap floor.

The Sabres have made it clear they don't want veteran players back, they had no interest in Buch. It will either end up being a 3 way deal with Strome going elsewhere to get picks and prospects to use or we will trade Strome separately to recoup younger assets. I can see us signing Ritchie but I certainly hope not at that price and length as Fox, Mika, Kakko, Blais, Miller, and Laf will all get raises over the next 2-3 years.

The Sabres don't want veterans back, so Strome is out and will have to be traded elsewhere, maybe as part of a 3 way deal to get picks and prospects to use to get Eichel but they have made that clear. No thanks on Debrusk and we don't need a 2.8 million dollar back-up. I don't think Igor would sign a 2 year deal for that amount, he's going to want similar to what Demko got to sign for more than 1 season.

Blais will not be on the top line, Drury has said he wants to have kids play top 6 minutes and make our bottom 6 harder to play against. That 3rd line will get shoved around the ice, Blais will be on the 4th line, remember Kreider will be back as he wasn't playing when all the Wilson stuff happened, same with Trouba and Lindgren.
Kreider - Mika - Laf
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Goodrow- Chytil -Kravstov
Hunt - Rooney - Blais
and that's only if no other moves are made... which is unlikely.
