<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>I was surprised to see that video yesterday too. I trust Frank more than my gut. I guess we’ll see if he’s right. To your point, feels like Ottawa should charge a premium for Detroit specifically being they’re fighting for the same playoff slot.</div></div>
Imagine trading DeBrincat to Detroit, having him making the difference between a Wings over the Sens playoff spot and all you got in the end was Fiip Zadina and 2 picks that you miss on it...
But again, I can't say that I would be shocked to see that from Dorion

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>Your opinion and thanks for providing your idea on the return. Again I updated trade based in Seravalli’s statement on it. You can disagree with him. I linked the video of him above. He mentions Zadina by name and says he doesn’t see significant rostered players returning to Ottawa.
I’d caution you against using words like “obviously”, specifically when well sourced insiders have the exact opposite view.</div></div>
Fair enough. Honestly, I have no idea how these trade talks start because I don't follow any of these rumors... It would be shocking to see Zadina being the roster player the Sens get back and frankly on par with Dorion total mismanagement

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>Some great points. But I think Detroit’s biggest issue is top end NHL talent. Harder to find that via draft and free agency. Adding two 40 goal scorers and a top four D man should make this team competitive today and moving forward.
Hanifin wants out of Calgary and the rumor mill is swirling? Is there any package Calgary could create to make this work? Would Wallinder be enough going the other way. Trying to be realistic. Conroe isn’t an idiot and you have to give to get. Edvidsson looks like a blue chip prospect and you’d need that to make a deal liek this work.
And yes as stated obviously dependent on ability to sign long term.</div></div>
If Steve is going to trade a Dman, it'll be Wallinder, who is very boom/bust. Wallinder has a top 2 ceiling, but also a Euro-only contract floor (a pretty wide variance). Johansson could be a piece going as well. Kubalik is just a throw-in (which I don't understand why everyone thinks DET is going to trade Kubalik, he's a goal scorer on a team that can't score goals). I would even throw in a 2nd rounder in 2023 to make a Wallinder/Johansson/Kubalik deal work, and even add the 3rd rounder for Vladar.
I just think if Conroy is going to move 2 of his best players, unless he has some magic in the bag, he might as well blow it all up, because they won't be a playoff team next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>Understood. My experience on this website is fans overvalue their own prospects. If I can get a top 4 dman that’s 26 and playing 20+ minutes a night and a 28 year old center who’s floor is 20 goals and scored 40 two years ago, I’m gonna go get em.
Keep in mind with your window analogy, that there’s two sides to that analogy. For example, Larkin’s in his prime now. Isn’t there an equal argument to be using that to its full potential. Especially with the war chest of picks and prospects.
Suppose Servelli is wrong and it is Begerren needed to make Debrincat deal? Do you make it. Or just hope he gets his 40 goal season before Larkin is on the wrong side of 30…
I’m not sure just asking</div></div>
Out of the pieces I'd be willing to trade to get DeBrincat; I'd do Berggren. He's a decent player; more than I think I realize, but other than his offensive capabilities he doesn't bring much else.
Mazur, for example, is a good goalscorer; but he's also defensively responsible. Also, more importantly, can throw around his body.
You don't get that from Berggren and you won't get that from DeBrincat.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>All fair. One question. Is there a middle ground? Do we have to sit and wait for picks? Or can we weaponize some assets to accelerate. The above roster - which in the description is described as unlikely. But even in this plan the Wings have a ton of premium picks and prospects. They’re not all going to hit and consistent losing takes its toll. If not this, what would you recommend they do to get more competitive next season? Or would you do nothing and let it slowly build? Respect that if so but I am just too impatient</div></div>
I certainly do think there's a middle ground, and we may be on it. Do I think it's wise to ship out Edvinsson? Hell no. I wouldn't even ship out Wallinder. Our prospects are fantastic, but more importantly, their roles for this team are clear. We lack grit? Mazur, Kasper, Soderblom. We're horrible defensively? Edvinsson is undoubtedly going to be one of the best defensive defenseman in the league.
Wallinder was projected to be a low floor-high ceiling guy (with some saying a higher ceiling than Edvinsson, which is just insane when considering that Edvinsson's ceiling is already huge), and he looks to be hitting.
Our goaltending stinks? Cossa didn't look great, but he found his stride. He'll likely be an elite starter in a few years.
We haven't assessed goal-scoring and that's about it.
If you're asking me, I'd rather take a slow approach; typically gives a longer window than forcing your hand.

I haven't kept myself updated enough on Johansson's progress to properly asses his current value so I wouldn't know... I thought maybe he is worth a 3rd?

Sens have zero interest in Zadina, you need to change him to Berggren or Kubalik

Not Hanifin though, as we have like 11 LHD under contract already including most of our top prospects (Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson are all LHD). In my opinion we are mucb better served going for a scorer with the resources we have</div></div>
Sign Hanifin. Sell Edvinsson for a forward (Byfield?)
(If they want to accelerate the rebuild).
That would turn some heads.

I'd prefer to see him on the 2nd line, even if he's not the best.
This team should not have high expectations anyways, so give this kid as many minutes as possible.</div></div>
That’s exactly why I’d rather see him in the AHL. Unless he is fat and away the best number 2 center on the team I’d rather see him get number 1 minutes in the AHL than 3rd or 4th in the NHL since I don’t think he is better than Copp this year (yet) if he proves everyone wrong in camp awesome that’s a great problem to have. I just want to have a contingency.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>What is the ask on the Cat trade in your mind? Is it Beggeren? If so, do the picks change?</div></div>
They would want Berggren as he would be a dip in production from Cat, but still a second year player that probably improves from a great rookie season. They save money and get immediate production, while also getting a guy with a bunch of team controlled years. Second would be Kubalik as he is a cheap 20G 40PT guy who is 26, but has more inconsistencies. Could be just immediate help, or a guy who gets a slight bump if he does well (WC he was a monster).
Depending on who the player is, the pick changes. Berggren would act as a 1st since he has only improved since being taken where he was. A 2nd and small piece would accompany him. Kubalik at MAX is a 2nd at the TDL, so the NYI would be involved and possibly another bigger third piece (depending on OTT wanting a pick to flip, a depth piece, another prospect, etc.).

Um, 2 Oilers fans commented on that thread. "Most"?
And a WIngs fan had this to say: "RNH is better than AA"

FWIW, I don't think that's an overpay, it's very likely what it would cost to get RNH out of Edmonton. And Edmonton wouldn't do it without a replacement 2C in place... the only guy available in free agency (that would be an upgrade) is Duchene and I'm not sure the Oilers could afford him. Of course Draisaitl could play 2C, but now you're in the same situation with only 3 good top-6 players - they need to add to their core, not make sideways moves.
Maybe I'll try making an EDM mock using the above assumptions when I get a moment.

When did RNH score 30 goals?
RNH is better than AA but I wouldn't give up a good prospect and 2 draft picks to get him. Draft picks are just to important Detroit is still rebuilding and when start trading picks and prospect for established players You end up in a never ending rebuild. I saw this today and the title says it all: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1129277">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1129277</a>
