Big off season s-wings Perfetti
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Unfortunately I don't the Jets and Wings are good trading partners. It doesn't make sense to make a lateral move for a similar forward as that doesn't push the Jets forward, they need to start filling holes like RHD and 2C to build a more complete team.</div></div>
Think this is a fair and reasonable take

Best Case Scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Value wise, I think that's a pretty good haul for Winnipeg for Perfetti, but I think the Jets would want a similar aged, similarly talented, already playing in the NHL player back for Perfetti.</div></div>
I hear you, just don't know what else the caps have that they're willing to give up that fits that. Iorio can play in the NHL right now - he looked solid in the limited minutes he played at the end of the season - but he's stuck behind Carlson, Jensen, TVR, and Bear on the depth chart. He's going to be a good middle pair defenseman, but he can already hold his own on the bottom pair. I think a full year in the NHL next season would be great for him, just don't think he's gonna get that in DC. If Winnipeg sees Iorio as a young right-now piece, maybe the trade works? But if the Jets want a forward, it's tough to find something that fits the bill you described from the caps.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>I think the Jets would be interested in both configurations, although they would likely want to keep Pionk, since he and DeMelo are the Jets only 2 RH shots on defense and DeMelo may leave.
But both packages are workable I'd imagine, it's just hard to see what else would/could be added.</div></div>
Perfetti because the islanders have to find youth and one winger is not going to effect their odds of contention

Maybe this guy from Dauphin (Pulock) will want to come to Winnipeg, as opposed to the other guy from Dauphin (Trotz) who said no. I'm with you, I doubt he would waive.

Perfetti
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Yes, I would just keep Perfetti. Barron simply isn't better than any of Winnipeg's in house options.
While you can say both players struggled at times as all young players do. In think it's disingenuous for you claim that a young player that put up 19 goals playing regularly for most of the year in the top 6 on a team with a very good top 6, struggled as much as a a defenseman that couldn't consistently crack the lineup of a very bad defense.
Those are two very different levels of struggle.
If Perfetti was a Canadien, would you make the same deal for Barron?</div></div>
I am in the minority of MTL fans in feeling that Barron did not really struggle. He was MTL's 4th most used defence at 5v5 on average and he posted a 50% GF in that usage (which is a pass on a rebuilding team IMO).
He's not much a penalty killer and he had limited powerplay ice time on the 2nd unit, I assume MTL wanted him to improve his game defensively (specifically on the penalty kill) which is why they assigned him to Laval, but for the mistakes he makes he brings enough good to balance it out and that should improve with time. This was the last year before Barron required waivers so I think they just took the opportunity to develop him down there. Ultimately, the emergence of Struble is what pushed Xhekaj to Laval for a stint, but Xhekaj is simply better than Barron so eventually they changed spots.
But Struble had easier usage than Barron and he had worse results with a 47.76% GF, so I don't think it's fair to say he couldn't crack the line up... he was better than Struble and when he was in the lineup he played the majority of his minutes in the top 4.
Regarding trading Perfetti if I was the jets - i would say no not necessarily. But I would be trading a forward for a defenseman because of what they have in the system. I personally think Barron would be a good fit in WPG on the 3rd pair with the potential to grow into a top 4 role as he develops more consistency. He won't necessarily make you better right away but he gives you an internal solution to the aging and expiring contracts defence.
If you aren't interested I can understand (as WPG is probably wanting to get better now and doesn't really care about the future), my personal stance would be to keep Barron around anyways unless a really good offer is out there.

I think you're right though, Perfetti should only be moved for a Pulock type to solidify that dcore and he's good enough he should be able to get you a younger player that fits that role

Provorov isn't a good fit for Winnipeg, as they need right side defenseman. Next year, they currently have Pionk and Schmidt as NHL RD under contract (plus some prospects).

Only Way Marner Waives his NMC
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>It will be interesting to see how that one works out. I can't see the Leafs walking away or moving Marner and I think it's a virtual guarantee he will be looking for more than Nylander, so very interesting as an outsider.
Do you really think they would consider moving Marner?</div></div>
I would have moved him before the nmc kicked in for sure. I.dont think they have a choice anymore. The team is constructed badly and there are some real ego issues on the team. Dubas really screws up with those big contracts right away too. It really seems like he is only there for the money. I'm not putting it all on him though and I would be OK with blowing up the team.
It is all my fault, I got his jersey and that is usually the kiss of death for a player. He will be the seventh player who's jersey I got then they got traded. 😔

It is over
I agree with Monahan and Toffoli not coming back, as they are probably priced out of the Jets budget. That said, Monahan has done his job well in his time here.
I think Dillon is gone, with the Jets moving Samberg up to 2LD and either Heinola/Stanley to 3LD.
This offseason they're going to have to either re-sign or move Ehlers, as he is too big of a piece to enter his last season with his long term future in doubt.
Edit: They will also have to decide whether or not to pick up the team option on Bowness (unless he decides to retire).

perfetti to round out the top six
Harris has zero value for the jets due to the logjam, and with that contract he would be considered a negative for WPG. A perfetti package would start with Roy or Guhle as the beginning.

Hawks obviously decline. Even without any retention, that offer isn't close. Hawks aren't looking to trade Jones, so assuming Jones would even waive for Montreal, yes, the Habs definitely add.

Bombshell on Draft Day
This is the kind of deal that gets GMs fired
As fun as it might be for the Devils to acquire Marner that would screw our salary cap situation for years to come, Marino is on a team friendly deal, and Mercer is about to sign a (hopefully team friendly) bridge deal, plus L. Hughes and Holtz ELC are up soon and they will need new contracts which we wont be able to afford if we go out and get Marner
Dont really have a need or use for Liljegren
Our pick is Top 10 so we can always just use it to acquire a better goaltender or better LHD or use it to restock the pipeline
So as you hopefully see its not really worth it for us to mortgage the future just for a short term boost.

Winnipeg's only interest in moving Iafallo is for cap space, which is why it needs to be for futures.</div></div>
Thanks for the insight. I know it won't be easy to move him, and I believe Buffalo will become desperate as soon as 25-26. B/O certainly on the table.
