Yet another Zegras suggestion
<a href="/users/Coachchippy" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Coachchippy</a> really wants to see Zegras in NY.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rags21</b></div><div>Why do NYR fans want Zegras? Mika is wayyyyyyy better</div></div>
It might have something to do with the NYR being Zegras' team growing up, and the fact that he's a really good player.
While I do think this is an interesting offer, I'm not sure either team wants to make this deal.

Good signing for Calgary. A realistic price for Backlund.
He for sure could of got more on the open market.

You can be a pest and be a good player, like for example his dad. Brendan Lemieux will never be his dad.
What a waste of a draft pick.

I assume his parents like him, but you never know.
This guy is just off, and I believe Brady Tkachuk when he says that even his own teammates don't like him.
He is about to suit up for his 3rd team in 2023 alone.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't finish the season in Carolina.

I couldn't ignore this - Windjammer - fast enough and it happened a long time ago.
Ridiculous takes on trades and opinions.
For someone to call Jarnkrok a waiver player, I just don't know. I'm sure Jarnkrok has no interest in going to Winnipeg, like most players.
I hope Toronto keeps him, there is real value in Jarnkrok.

Do you mean the picture controversy?
Glad to see that this guy is gone, AGAIN. But, I still don't understand what goes through Columbus' head when they are trying to fill their head coaching vacancy, and they land on Babcock.
Whose decision was this, and who needs to be fired?
Do the Blue Jackets not have any internal hires or former players that they can consider for this role? Or maybe a former coach with a good track record?

Should Jaromir Jagr be allowed to own and play for the same hockey team?
I actually think this is a great story.
He's born in Kladno.
This is a story of living your dream, and this is what Jaromir Jagr does. Coming home to give back to the community that helped raise you. I have always liked Jagr. If people remember him in the NHL as a player, he was dominant.
He has a HOF career in the NHL and goes home to buy a team where he is born. This is what movies are made of. We would ALL do this, if we could.
I find it hard to believe Jaromir Jagr would do anything to tarnish his career and the regard his fans hold for him by 'fixing' games.
As for the fact that he's still playing, I LOVE it. Good for him. It's natural for a player's play to drop off at 51, if you're comparing him to when he played in his 20's.

Nick Kypreos proposing trading Tavares and eating half of his salary
I have no clue what this guy - Juice - is trying to say in this thread. READ the posts and what people are writing.
Do people actually realize how much money this team generates annually? I know that they operate at the highest CAP, they should be operating at the highest CAP!
I read his post and ignored him immediately. Life is short, folks.
I could care less what someone has to say that has a Mitch Marner picture as their avatar, and who probably works for either Bell or Rogers.
I don't care if you don't agree with what I have to say, feel free to ignore me.

This team is majority owned by two Telecommunications GIANTS, 75% combined ownership between Bell and Rogers (37.5% each respectively).
Basically, this means they don't really care what happens on the ice with this team, like for instance, WIN. The only thing all these money-hungry corporations care about is, in fact, your money.
Now, if Toronto actually does WIN something, even better; sprinkles, cherries, any topping you want on top of that sundae. You just helped the corporation make more money; they like you, for now.
I'm sure Bell and Rogers don't care who is a Leafs fan when they send out their monthly cable bills.
Most people have been watching this movie long enough, they start to wonder, is anything going to change?
A lot of fans get on board with it, because you know, they don't want to go against 'their' team. Last time I checked, this team doesn't pay the average fan for their obedience.
I don't feel sad for the Leafs fans that are born after the year 2000, and have essentially been spoiled. These fans no nothing of heartache.
I feel sad for the Leafs fans that were born in 1968, 1969, 1970, and so on, who have been grinding, year after year, hoping this team would get it together.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before these two are signed to deals that everyone involved can be happy with.

Auston Matthews - 12.7m x 3
William Nylander - 9m x 8
Marner - 11m x 5
JT - 1m x 2 (pls john)
Drop ur predictions below!</div></div>
As a Leafs fan, do you really want to sign Nylander to this deal? He would be 35 years old in the final year of this deal, almost 36, making that much $.
I think Tavares' next contract will be in the range of $3.5 million AAV or lower.
We ALL know what Matthews' signed for.
As for Marner, could you imagine if he has a higher AAV for the 2025-26 season than McDavid? That is funny to think about.

I appreciate your name <a href="/users/Finski" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Finski</a>.
But, I would prefer a Dimeski.
This Angus Crookshank handle is a beauty.
I always liked the name Jody Shelley when he played.
Arber Xhekaj, there is something about this guy and his name. Anytime you can stitch an 'X' on the back of a jersey is a win for the league.

To Arizona 50% retained with Jarnkrok for Crouse, McBain and picks?
Arizona would then retain 50 and send him to Boston or some team in need for a haul.
I doubt Tavares would waive his NMC in any scenario.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GM_SZK</b></div><div>Woo I love this far fetched scenario though…

Hey,
You,
Guy,
Cut this out. Tavares isn't going anywhere.
Not to mention you have Domi playing 2C.
So, you trade Tavares and slot Domi in his place?
How about a line with Domi, Tavares, and Marner? or Domi, Tavares, and Bertuzzi?
Or, maybe lets slot Domi on the 3rd line and make this team that much deeper.

He is definitely and underrated player.
I wouldn't want to go over 6 years. I can see a 5 or 6 year deal. In the range of $7 million AAV or just over that range.
But, an open market FA, a team realistically could give him 7 years and over $8 million AAV.

I can see Toronto re-signing both Bertuzzi and Domi.
I like Toews, but this is a MONSTER contract to give him. I wouldn't give him that much $ or that much term.
However, a team on the open market, he could very well get something like this.

Realistic Trade
This is not a good deal for Toronto. The Islanders would win this trade. There is value in Dobson, no doubt.
But, Pageau makes too much $ for a 3rd liner, who is signed for the next 3 years. I think the only way Pageau is traded from the Islanders now is if there is some sort of retention involved.
Toronto can get a better return than this for these two.
