Just sell the whole team, not the Ranger name to Quebec City. Then come up as the NY Rangers expansion team and pick all new players.

Jack Eichel trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>that’s unfortunate the sabres have a top 10 center under contract for 5 more seasons on their team. So disappointing.</div></div>
It's a shame. I feel bad for Eichel, the kids injury could be career ending. It's a tangled web with the CBA, surgery choices, Sabers medical staff and so on.
As a Rangers fan we could use a great young center who is under a decent contract. Eichel issue is something that needs time to work out right now.
I wish him (and the team) well.

They wanted a goon and got the best (Reavo). Buch was a just another cap causality (Hegelian, Zuccarello, Stepan, JT Miller and so on).
I don't see the Rangers jumping into uncertainty with Eichel at the moment. Sorry the Sabers are stuck with him.

Jack Eichel trade
Jack Eichel with or without the neck brace?
Seriously, The CBA explains the violations if Eichel gets the surgery he wants.
The Sabers can terminate him but wont. (He would become a free agent)
They won't go the route, instead suspend him without pay and fine him until he is cleared to play.
If he never gets clearance (due to surgical complications) Eichel loses over 50 million. Do you take that risk.
He could hold out of camp until a trade is done.
If he were to sit out the entire season he’d have more control next summer when his no-trade clause kicks in.
Summary of a Daily Goal Horn article.
Until this is all over, its just a waste of time with these Eichel trade scenarios (Rangers are not "that" stupid to do the trade)

Any GM willing to give draft picks for Eichel should make them conditional, Eichel must play 65% of the season.
Rangers should not deal unless there is clean heath sheet attached.

3. If Chytil is a 4th line center, than Im a ballerina.
4. Danault? This is a disaster waiting to happen. The guy is a good 3C, hes not a 2C. MTL has played 21 games in the playoffs, hes scored 4 points. Why are we signing him to play 2C?
I forgot, let me applaud you for being compliant, good luck resigning Zib, Fox, Kakko and Kravtsov the following year.</div></div>
Shasty is not getting 5M for his 1st RFA contract
Denault would fit in well with Laffy and is a better replacement at 2C then Strome (Strome will be traded at the 2022)
I think Denault would be a good C for the Rangers. Just a 2 C for the coming season.
I like Chytil and possibly him and Strome could alternate in 2021/2022 (he is progressing quickly to a possible 2C spot)
We do extend Fox in 2021/2022
2022/2023 is going to be a cap squeeze.. Someone has to go like Trouba, Kreider by buyout, local team trades might waive NTC/NMC.

Eichel for the hell of it
Let me start by saying I'm not accusing Eichel of being disgruntled (officially he has not said he wants out of Buffalo) . If the speculation is true, Eichel is a Sabers franchise captain, the Sabers organization did their best to surround him with talent but captain Eich can't seem to get it together and now wants to jump ship.....He also just had some serious surgery. What makes us Rangers fans think he will be any different on Broadway? I'll pass and maybe look at older experienced centers to mentor the young ones ... Giroux, Bergeron, (22/23) Krecji (21/22) who will be discount free agents soon!

Hopefully a blockbuster trade with Boston will rid the Rangers of Kreider. With Laff the Rangers now have no use for the cold/hot six million dollar power forward

A Possible Eichel Trade
At this point the NY Rangers rebuild is going better then Buffalo's rebuild. Rangers should not try to tweak what they have with Buffalo. IMO resigning Mika for a team freindly contract in 2022/2023 would be much better then bringing in Eichel.

Clarity on Eichel Situation
You need to create 10 million in cap space. Strome or Buchnevich, and DeAngelo or Smith (+ prospects and picks) would have to be part of the deal.
Mika has a full NTC, Smith may not modify to Buff..... I think the Rangers get this done in the off-season with 20 million free cap space.

Not giving anything to Tampa for Cirelli except the formal compensation (future 1st and 3rd). The Lightning is up ***** creek without a paddle. They don't even have the second buyout window option because no RFA's filed for arbitration. Yeah they got the cup but if they cant get out of the current cap situation by the start of the season, they might have to forfeit games until in compliance.

Sergy to NYR makes too much sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>So if the 5-6mil in bonuses happen they will not be penalized for that based on this current construction? They would need to be over 6.1125 in bonuses? Is that correct?</div></div>
After the allowed 7.5% cushion (6.1125 mil) With the current roster players (bonuses = 10.0625 mil) the current bonus cap hit is 3.95 million. We still can be charged 5-6 million total depending on which entry level players make the roster.
Answer is the Rangers will used up more then 6.1125 and will owe 4-6 million

Sergy to NYR makes too much sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Oh ya you are right. Saying 8m in bonuses. Ya Deangelo will need to be traded. My bad! Good catch!</div></div>
According to the collective bargaining agreement, teams are allowed a "performance bonus cushion" of 7.5% of the salary cap total. For an $81.5 million cap, that works out to $6.1125 million in bonuses that won't affect the cap. Anything they pay in performance bonuses over that amount counts against their salary-cap figure.
Lafrenière: $2.85 million, Igor Shesterkin: $2.85 million, Kaapo Kakko: $2.65 million, Adam Fox: $850,000, Filip Chytil: $350,000, Julien Gauthier: $300,000, Ryan Lindgren: $212,500.....Total: $10.0625 million
Subtract $6.1125 million from that total, which equals $3.95 million, and add that to the Rangers’ cap charge.
Now, there are other entry-level players who could make the roster......Morgan Barron: $850,000, Vitali Kravtsov: $850,000, Justin Richards: $500,000, K’Andre Miller: $300,000, Tarmo Reunanen: $132,500
Reality 5-6 million bonus total

Should be interesting to see how Tampa gets out of the cap mess they are in.
Players won't wave NTC/NMC's, Stamkos on LTIR possibly?
Hefty fines, forfeit games and they lose draft picks if they cant fix it.
Good luck signing RFA's Cirelli and Sergachev.

In reality the Rangers must leave a 5 mil dollar cushion for bonus penalties. Signing Sergachev would mean losing Deangelo.
Unfortunately the Shattenkirk buyout is a killer for this season.
