<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Julius_Freezer</b></div><div>are you braindead? A 1st and 2 2nds is what it took to get Chychrun from ARZ, since then his play has declined and his team friendly contract expires next season, I'd listen to an argument that there needs to be more for both of them since there's retention on both (could be a 3rd team involved to retain on Tarasenko instead) but to say that all of this isn't worth Chychrun alone is one of the most stupid things I've ever heard.</div></div>

A) I'm not sure where you see that his play has declined, he's been pretty darn good in Ottawa so far.

B) not all 1st round picks are the same. Ottawa traded a pick that was guaranteed to be between like 10-15, which is probably worth 2 of Vancouver's 1sts right now. So that offer for Chychrun alone is probably closer than both of them as the cost of Vlad is a 1st as well.

I honestly don't think I would accept that for Chychrun alone, not because the overall "value" isn't there, but because they can move him and get a single more impactful piece instead of 4 pieces unlikely to ever make any impact in the NHL, a late 1st next year (player won't make a real impact for 3 more years) and a late 2nd in 2026 who won't touch an NHL roster until 2029. Nevermind the cost of them using a retention spot.

Quality over quantity, especially when you're trading a top pair defenseman.

No way Chych ends up there, but I could see them looking at Vladdy if he'd go there (why wouldn't he right now)
