That said, I wouldn't do it. Timmins is ready, and I think the team will use the season to work both him and Byram into action (BB first but only for 9 games, then Timmins on a permanent basis). Barrie throws a wrench in the gears. Fun to think about though.</div></div>
I don't see how adding a 50-60 point Dman "throws a wrench in the gears". It just means that Timmins would get another year to marinate in the AHL with top pair and 1st PP/PK minutes, which might actually be better for his development than a sheltered role in the NHL.

Barrie might fancy his odds of riding out the flat cap while rebuilding his value a bit for a year or two with a team he knows well, and where he still has a residence, while also competing for a cup. If there's anyone who knows how to get the best out of him it's Bednar.

There is no way Colorado will be signing Barrie. If they do, the Kadri/Barrie trade would look worse than what it is right now.

12.5 % of winning the Laffy Lottery are better odds than the Leafs getting past the Bruins in the 1st Rd.

We can do the deal without Demko and Erikkson. We can add a 2021 2nd or a young player Tage Thompson or Pilut but beyond that we are at the tipping point

I don't think his progress has been as good as others in the 1st round of the 2017 draft, better then Foote but otherwise not as good as the others generally speaking. That said, hardly alarming as D guys take time. The kid just turned 21 so may need another year, but why not give him a chance next season?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>yep, I was actually going to propose him coming over as he and Marchenko before he was taken by columbus were on my 3c center list. For starters, he knows Matthews and Malgin which could influence his decision. Second this guy is an incredible center, He can win faceoffs regularly, can protect the puck to the point where u need to take a penalty to take it away, and in general is solid a center. With some Dubas magic I could honestly see him coming over and if we can move kerfoot, being a possible long term solution.</div></div>
Absolutely, look what he did with Lehtonen. No rumours of him coming to the Leafs, where all the attention lied to the Devils, Canadiens, Kings and Detroit. If he wants to make a name for himself, Toronto is the place to go.
