Screw Paul Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Marner is as much a winger as Kane or Panarin. They may play wing, but the offense goes through them. You can just stop that lame argument right there. Because much like Kane, he's going to be one of the highest paid players in the league when he signs his deal.</div></div>
and Kane was a winger who signed for 10.5 million as a UFA.

Screw Paul Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>No one has yet to make a logical reason he should take less than 11.6
Which is where I believe he will sign.
THis is hockey. Players don't have to play second fiddle on the ice. They can be put on their own line. But that also means they are going to want paid.
The shelled out big money for JT last year. Come tell me you would rather pay JT 11 million a year than Marner. And you will see rather easily why he's going to get paid.</div></div>
Marner is a winger.
Rantanen and Point are both better FA's that likely won't sign for over 10.
No winger makes over 10.5 and def not in a RFA contract year.
Marners point skyrocketed playing with an elite C and JT's slightly increased (All JT's wingers have done this)
Marner gets more endorsement money in Toronto than any other team can offer him in terms of cap/endorsements total.
It's an easy concept to understand. Marner won't be back on Toronto over 10.5, but he'll almost certainly be back.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>We live in an age of extremism. He'll start the season with Matthews and they'll come out of the gate like gangbusters, Matthews will again have something stupid like 15 goals in his first 10 games and Nylander will have 15 points or something stupid and all of a sudden he'll be worth everything in the world and Marner will be the most overrated player in the league because he'll have 12 points in 10 games.
A guy has a stretch of 20 games where he plays well and he's a god and worth a kings ransom. Public perception is all about the flavor of the month and if you get hot, your value is about 2000% higher than it should be or a bad half season will make you garbage that isn't worth a 2nd rounder. Its stupid.
Nylander is a great player with his entire prime still ahead of him.
Pesce is a very good defender who's value is massively inflated right now.
Both fan bases should just stop talking to each other. Carolina keep Pesce, Leafs keep Nylander and everyone just stop it.</div></div>
Couldn't be truer, Nylander is fine and Pesce is a great player but they're not on the same planet skill or value wise.

The Nylander offers are getting ridiculous. 10 months ago he was equal to Marner in value and now you can't get anything that'll likely be in the top half of a lineup for him.

They're known anti-analytics and could see Zaitsev playing a shutdown role and think he's a net asset. Maybe they don't though, it's hard to tell.

41 points as a career high before this year and he's 27 and doesn't even have the "intangibles" that are so overpaid for. A gm would be fired instantly if he signed him for 6 million

The offense is alright but probably not the time to test if moore can play top competition. I agree that should be the fourth line though... They should play between 0-3 minutes this game.

Not even the same realm of Dman, and trading Nylander to keep zaitsev would get Dubas shot out of a cannon when he puts up 60+ points next year.

My lines for the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>
"The leafs are definitely a slightly more proficient offensive team, the real test will be if the leafs can play up to the bruins level defensively, given that the bruins were 3rd in goals against and the leafs were 20th. Keeping the bruins 3rd ranked powerplay off the ice would go a long way into trying to even the battle defensively." Personally, I would add, "Hopefully Gardiner isn't fishing his jock out of the rafters the entire series like last year."</div></div>
Agree, this should the best of the three series we've had so far, imo the most exciting series in the first round. Boston needs to pressure the right side and get Toronto to play their more grinding style and Toronto needs to keep the game fast and slow down the first line.

Can't see the Leafs moving any of the three this year tbh, but I doubt they more their chippiest player while being yelled at by fans every game for being too soft. Kadri probably stays a few more years and goes the year before his contract is done

How good is Cole Caufield
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>From the tape I've watched, he has easily the best shot I've seen of all the players projected to go in the first round. His release is lightning quick, he has a ton of power behind it, and he goes to all the right areas on the ice to score. I'm a Badger fan so I'll know more about him next year, but as of now I like him a lot and I wouldn't be surprised to see him drafted in the top 15, maybe even top 10. The knock is obviously his size which could cause him to slide to the Habs pick...
Edit: basically in my opinion he's a top 10 talent that may or may not be drafted where his talent would indicate based on his 5'7" frame</div></div>
Bing Bing. Top 10 talent that will probably go 15-20

Every year it happens, you'd think they weren't getting paid to see these trends. Barzal was arguably a top 5 player in his draft on draft day. Players go late/undrafted that have the skill of first rounders but size issues. Tyler Johnson, Marchessaults, Gourde the list goes on.

Rosen is getting games this year, and Sandin + Lil would get preseason and the start of the year. Not like we'll be in any other position than playing Boston again first round next year anyways. What other way would you set our D up without spending money? I see no other way unless you see Holl being better than anyone here.
Bracco has a lot of PP points, not sure he's much more than a 3rd liner. I also would see us keeping him, but people would complain Zaitsev isn't being taken for free (I think he might honestly)
