<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Let's stop the fantasy that NMC can be moved. He isn't leaving......well maybe he might to agree to Florida or Tampa who don't have the cap.
Almost the same with N MTC Mrzarek.</div></div>
Mrazek is only a 10 team, not a huge issue there in an offseason.
Muzzin may be harder or not even in their intentions, but there are very few times where a player would refuse trading at all when asked by a team. He likely just controls where he goes with a NTC rather than forces his hand to stay where he's not wanted. The return would be hindered but doubtful that it's a situation where they have no choice.
Obviously, there's no telling what a team's offseason will look like especially with none of us having the inside track to our management's brain. With Sandin+ Rielly looking like the long-term LD there's reason to suspect something like this and the team clearly needs to find cap space.

Redoing the offseason
That OEL trade really hurts long-term for the team. Would've been a lot easier in hindsight (and honestly even without) to bite the bullet on those contracts for the year and have cap space for play this offseason. At least Garland is a player though.
Dermott for Schenn + pick might still be a play for the Leafs if they can't find a good fit for a top 4 guy that could work for canucks in the longer run.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Definitely. I didn’t know you don’t want Kerfoot… if those guys are ready, they makes it even easier to sign Campbell. You will just have to hope your young guys can do well in those lines, which I think it will be fine. And like you suggested, I would also use Robertson as trade bait for a top 4 right shot defence man. This leafs team could actually be quite decent coming into next year.. I think Mikheyev may want to stay, and I think you may be able to afford him depending on how much he wants, and if he keeps this scoring rampage going on! It will be interesting to see what he does, but if he plays his cards right, it could be a good team!</div></div>
Definitely lots of variables with young guys. Kerfoot is probably just a depth luxury the team can't afford next season. Mik asked out last year for ice time issues, which though have increased I definitely see the hoping for a bigger role with a team next year. I like the player, so wouldn't be opposed to resign at a low #.
Also, hoping the Oilers can figure out the depth issue over there. The core is insane and it's almost annoying to watch even from the outside how they haven't put it together. A few tweaks to the depth, plus a goalie could make that team a dreadful matchup for 7.

trade
I'm a big Chychrun guy but that deal could be historically bad for Florida. Lundell is going to be a studdd. The first is likely late but still a first, while also giving up a top G prospect. You'd better hope you win one short-term with that kinda blowup potential.
Chariot I personally think there are a lot of better cheaper options as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Your plan definitely is good, but I would tweak a few things. I too believe Muzzin, Mrazek, and Ritchie need to go. I would try my best to trade them. You would have just south of 12 million. (11,925,000M). According to many users, and Betman himself, he has claimed a while back that the cap is supposed to go up by one million. If Sandin can play on that second pair, you guys should be fine with your resigns. So you would have (12,925,000M) in cap if it’s true and the cap goes up. With that money, you guys should be able to get most of your resigns done. If you can’t resign Campbell, depending on how much he wants, there is also cheap options out there (Vanecek 3M, Allen 2.875M, Georgiev 2M, etc). Vanecek, and Georgiev’s contracts are guesses as I don’t know what they would get… the exact amount. They can still be competitive if they play their cards right. Especially if they get rid of Holl and get an upgrade for the top 4. I think unless Campbell wants under 4M, you are screwed with signing him, but there are plenty other guys just in case!</div></div>
Yeah, I agree with most of that. Campbell seems like the type to take the hometown price after his lengthy career trajectory in finding a fit. Sandin should be a lock for 2LD next year, worst case it would be a deadline replacement there imo. I think 5m should be the middle ground target for both Leafs and Campbell, especially as you expect his numbers to regress a tad towards the end of the year (as seen in his last few games). The risk on a 30 Y/O is normally pretty significant so obviously, there's a number that their situation dictates that unfortunately, you'd have to say bye at (Like in the case of Hyman heading over there)
The outlook was more for this season, while for the next, hopefully some of Knies/Amirov/Steeves/hosang being able to fill roles next year for Mik/Kerfoot/ritchie while Sandin + Woll/Kallgren take over rolls for Muzzin/Mrazek

I'd prefer Holl for sure, could depend on their wants in SEA. The problem with Coleman is everyone wants him now and it's unlikely he'll go cheap or be worth his value at this point. Might be better looking at a trade for Miles wood or looking for the next Coleman/Hyman with our cap situation

I'm hoping Holl but I'd guess it's Dermott going to SEA honestly. Coleman probably won't come here or for that and Bogo is not coming back. Hopefully, a Kerfoot and Hyman trade before free agency rolls around.

Reading everything going on with Jones and other trade targets that is a much much lower price. I also assume an extension would be in talks for any trade of big-name guys at this point and Rielly already being linked to LA.

Yeah read it on twitter too, could be initial talk that's way inflated or even false rumors. Taking away Debrincat that's still an awful deal and Chicago wouldn't do it I'd assume. There's always crazy talk like that until the actual trade goes down and it's nowhere near.
If somehow the trade is huge like that though, Rielly will be out the door, and the return absolutely would be higher than expected to the "consolation price team"

I fully agree, but the public perception is also not what their value likely is between gms. I still think Jones will fetch more (undeservingly), but Rielly will have much more than a 1st in value coming to the leafs.
Jones sort of has the Doughty value where expectation and past performance, making people who don't watch him think his value is where he would be projected to be on the same trajectory. Jones had all the hype and fell off hard without many noticing

Risto makes no sense for the Leafs, more of what they have and none of what they need.
He'll fetch something from a team that doesn't acknowledge is defensive inefficiency, but can't see the analytic Dubas having a high opinion on him.

Overpaying
PIT got a good player with a high upside. He didn't fit with the Leafs as our RW is top-heavy and he's making too much for a 3L winger on our team.
The draft is really deep, making the 1st probably a tad high value for Kapanen. Hallander is good for the Leafs as he's not a small forward (needs to bulk a bit) who can play more of a two-way game cheaper down the line for the Leafs.
Turning him into a 3LW in a year or 2 replaces Kapanen's role while adding a 1st.
Rodrigues could also resign as depth (under QO).

Dubas would be fired had he moved any of the 3 for him.
Sandin has highest potential by far
Kapanen close after in value
Johnsson last, still way too high of a price
Sandin is the leafs Kravstov, you can imagine that being ridiculous to give for a backup (Even with potential)

Hopeful Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>The thing is the whole reason we'd trade Dumba, Brodin, and Zucker in the first place is because we already have too many D and too many wingers. We currently have five top 4 D with Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba, and Soucy so that's why there are all of these Brodin/Dumba rumors. Those two in particular probably have the most trade value of any of our players, which adds fuel to the rumor mill. Trading one of them for younger D doesn't make much sense since we would still have four top 4 D and we have a few promising D prospects budding in Iowa (RD in particular, but Soucy would replace whoever we trade as he can play both sides very well on the 2nd pairing). We also currently have Zucker, Zuccarello, Parise, and Fiala as our top 6 wingers but we will need a spot for Kaprizov next year, so one of them will likely be moved. Parise and Zuccarello likely have negative value in a trade and Fiala is our most skilled forward, so that basically leaves Zucker as the odd man out. Replacing him with a Kapanen or Johnsson doesn't solve any issues, we'd still need a spot for the best winger outside of the NHL next year if we targeted Kapanen/Johnsson in a Toronto trade.
The Wild's #1 bolded and underlined need is talented center prospects/young centers. Any trade we make should target a young center (not saying we'd get any of these guys but examples would include Suzuki, Krebs, Heponiemi, Texier, etc.). Toronto doesn't have any prospects like that and the one player they have that fits that bill (Matthews) would get Dubas fired if he traded (and rightfully so unless it's for like McDavid). long story short, I don't see a fit between Toronto and the Wild as trade partners. The Wild have a lot of enticing pieces for Toronto, but Toronto has nothing that would fill our needs.</div></div>
Absolutely fair, I am a big fan of Kaprizov as well. I do think the team should be looking at getting younger though over positional needs and making other moves to boot. In a vacuum this may not make sense but with surrounding deals it could. Kerfoot could be had instead of Johnsson if they are looking more for a C.
Leafs arguably already have 4 capable top 4 dman as well. IMO you can't have too many good players in a position. (IE: Leafs with Mitch willy Kap on RW)
