Man, ideas really a virus :tearsofjoy I'll say the same thing to you that I did to the other guy that posted this Gaudreau to EDM trade: no one is paying you to take on Gaudreau's 4-year cap dump. If there were a team that'd take him at all, it isn't EDM.

Not strictly necessary to do so and, if they do decide to re-sign him, I can definitely imagine him giving them a discount.
Trades get agreed to on here all the time. If yours aren't, it's because you're either not being considerate enough of the others' POV or you're paying too much attention to the few fans from each fanbase that decline everything that doesn't overpay their team. Further, there's a distinct difference between getting "trashed" and getting "feedback". If you're getting trashed, it often means you've failed to account for something significant in your proposal. If you're getting trashed often, you ought to realise it can't <strong>always </strong>be everyone else that's wrong.

Apart from the fact that a trade can quite easily be made to open said space and, until further notice, Lehner is LTIR eligible which opens up sufficient space.

Hopeful lineup next year
Gotta be the bearer of bad news on this but nobody is taking Gaudreau's contract for 4 more years for free. You might be able to get away with moving Johansson for free, but his NTC might complicate that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>I think Sanheim is a nice fit for us next to Nurse if we get to move out Campbell in the trade and find a suitor for Ceci somewhere else. He would bring stability to Nurse's game, the only issue is the cap hit but if Campbell's contract is gone I feel like it could work. If we can grab him + one of Farabee/TK/Forrester or Tippet in the deal then I think it fills holes we would need to be filled. (We would move Nuge back to 2C in this scenario)</div></div>
I disagree. A.) I don't want to diminish the return from Drai (or McDavid in such a hypothetical) by attaching Campbell to him and B.) I don't see Sanheim as the solution that you seem to. I prioritize the addition of specific pieces to help the team extend and enhance its contention window in spite of losing a player of Drai's quality. I might be able to be convinced that a package including Bonk + Foerster + a 1st + another significant piece or two could be enough to part with Drai (assuming an extension is agreed upon), but I'm quite confident that there would be a more appealing package out there.

The Big Fish
Any Draisaitl trade that happens is <strong>definitely </strong>not gonna involve a multi-year cap dump and would likely have to include one of and likely both of future top-6 C and/or top-4 RD (Bonk covers this) coming back. I also very much doubt that EDM would make a Draisaitl trade that involves them adding to their cap. With that having been said, I don't know that PHI has the pieces EDM would be looking for.

Laine
EDM says no. Any interest in Texier would be for the purpose of replacing Foegele, which the team can only really afford to do if they move on from Kulak which would subsequently eliminate any interest they'd have in trading Broberg.

how did I do
That MIN trade is genuinely bad. Gaudreau has been downright awful this year and is locked up for 2.1mil for 4 more years. Beyond that, your reasoning for trading Lavoie doesn't make sense when you literally have Gaudreau filling the spot in the bottom-6 that Lavoie would be pursuing.
Further, Pionk isn't what I'd call "similar to Ceci".
On the whole, I'd much rather the team work on getting younger and faster. I'd do this by targeting UFAs like A. Carrier & Debrusk and maybe make a trade swapping Lavoie for a faster and more two-way young player in a similar situation (not certain as to who yet).

You're gonna have to pay to be rid of Gaudreau's contract and EDM isn't the team that'd ever consider taking him.

I think a return for Buch from BUF would look more like Rosen and a 1st with a + or - depending on the extension.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bheck14</b></div><div>Girard isnt even worth a first and a B+ plus prospect?</div></div>
Yes, that's absolutely my belief.
He's a consistent drag on on-ice results when compared to his team without much reason for it deployment-wise (whether D partners or circumstantial deployment). Further, the results of his D partners are consistently so much better when away from him that it's remarkable (<a href="https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20212022&thruseason=20232024&stype=2&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=y&v=t&playerid=8479398" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">NST WOWYs</a>). On top of this, he's 5'10, defends scoring areas poorly, and isn't even producing offense at an impressive rate at 5-on-5.
While this may be going too far for others to agree with, I see him as an outright liability and would need to be paid to take him on.

Broberg and Casey
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>Yes they do, Broberg isn't going to more valuable than a 2nd for us. He's going to be 23 by the start of next year and still in the AHL, if are goal is to win now I don't trust him on the bottom pairing. We can use that 2nd and flip it for an upgrade in the middle 6.</div></div>
Firstly, he's only in the AHL still because he's been behind a deep and absurdly healthy LD group. It's not some huge shortcoming on his part. Further, this is his 22 year old season; there's no harm in him being there. Our now-beloved Ekholm only made the NHL consistently at age 23.
Secondly, if you can't trust him on the 3rd pairing, where can you trust any rookie ever? Apart from maybe the 4th line, there aren't any roles on a team that are 'safer' for young players. Do you only intend to allow rookies to actually play when an injury arises? It's exactly this rigid mindset that holds teams back in my eyes. Young players need chances to play and show you who they are. In the event they're not up to the task, then you know a.) you can trade him without concern (3LD aren't hard to find at the deadline) and b.) if your valuation of him was already a low-2nd, then you're not gonna lose much in terms of asset value. The upside is you have a young 3LD and likely heir apparent to one of the LD slots ahead of him alongside an extra 1.75mil in cap space. The cost? Whatever difference in goal differential would exist between Broberg and Kulak's performance and a slight dip in his potential value as a trade asset (from a low-2nd down to a low-3rd or high-4th).
Lastly, the potential cap space difference between Kulak and Broberg is a valuable component of upgrading the positions most in need of it: 2RD and 2RW. Even if your hypothetical gives us an extra low-2nd to work with, we'd be hard-pressed to fit both upgrades into a full roster. Further, I don't think a low 2nd is going to be a piece that's enticing enough for another GM to send us a meaningful, low-cap hit upgrade to the middle-6.
