Making tough choices for the future

And funny how you don't see Frost as a good fit playing for Torts, but that Zegras would be.</div></div>
Jesus, you guys are brutal about the Reichel thing. I took the damn trade idea from a Hawks fan lmao
As for the Frost/Zegras thing, I've realized people grossly misunderstand Tortorella the last couple of years. He's been more than fine with players who don't defend particularly well and play with skill so long as they work hard (which Zegras does, I don't think he gets enough credit for that). Everyone thought he'd hate TK and Tippett, when in reality he absolutely loves both of them. With Frost in particular, he just has a weird bone to pick that I don't think anyone truly understands

He's... fine. I actually like him as a long term bottom pairing guy, but the problem is we already extended Seeler for that role and I don't think he's good enough to justify being a strong developmental partner for Drysdale. There's also an angle to this where I still think there's fairly untapped potential in Valimaki's game, so I don't consider this giving him away by any stretch

His contract page says he's expected to lose eligibility this upcoming season. Kind of changes the entire dynamic of the trade, if he is waiver eligible he's not even worth a 2nd at this point IMO, if he isn't then yeah I'd be looking for a Holtz swap or something like that

Is Turcotte waiver eligible next season? Sort of the difference between agreeing with you or thinking that this is a significant overpay

In theory I think the Flyers would love to add a prospect like Letourneau, but there's 0 chance they're drafting a guy committed to Boston College after the Gauthier fiasco

Oh I F with this lineup
I know Anaheim fans always say "Tyson or bust" on here regarding Zegras deals, but I think you pretty much need to make it work with any other player than Foerster. He's legitimately the 3rd most valuable asset in the entire organization at this point, just no way I'm trading him unless I'm getting a legit like top-25 player in the league in the deal coming back. I'd genuinely be willing to swap TK in his place before making a deal like that
I also don't love how Couturier ended this season, but I think we need to give him more time to get back into the swing of things and reduce his role moving forward. Dumping your Captain and a guy who can still be a good player for years to come for us for a 1st + 2nd + retention seems excessive

Bonk is just about dead even in terms of D+1 to Lindstein, but I'd prefer the big right shot player over the average sized left shot player. There's also the whole Michkov > Leonard thing, which isn't even close.
As for Detroit, yeah Danielson > Honzek (even though Danielson didn't have a great year) )by a fair margin and ASP > Drag by a country mile.

Offseason
Would be extremely disappointed with this outcome. For a team that just had a superstar Center prospect demand a trade and their star young Goalie leave due to criminal charges at the <em>beginning of a rebuild</em>, I'd really, really hope Briere would be more aggressive in trying to put this team on a better course for the future than the offseason you outlined here

Pushing to the Playoffs Finally
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Renegade_H</b></div><div>We can take Krebs for salary reasons if need be, but Flyers would probably want Kulich, Savoie, or Ostlund included.</div></div>
They should take an offer like this for TK in a heartbeat. I honestly think replacing Krebs with the guys you listed would make this an overpay by Buffalo. Adding a guy who slots into 3C immediately + plays a style that would work great in Philly, as well as adding a pick that can land one of Eiserman/Catton/Iginla/Buium/Helenius/Yakemchuk, while finally saving yourself the trouble of paying a RW a bit too much money in the early stages of a rebuild when you're already organizationally loaded at RW?
The only unfortunate part of this trade is the fact that I doubt Briere would actually do this, even though it'd be a really smart move for the future of the franchise

Cabbie's Mock v 2
Stealing this from a guy from SMAHT scounting, but I think the Hill I'll die on for this upcoming draft class is that Boisvert doesn't even deserve to sniff a top-15 spot.
"The odds Boisvert becomes a 2nd liner are pretty low...
0.70 non-PP P/GP and 27.21% of team goal involvement?
Well, in last 20 years ONLY Max Pacioretty has became a top 6 NHLer with such stats in USHL in draft year."
I think because he's a big, physical Center who has been on a lot of radars for awhile that a lot of people view him as a safe and easy pick, but when the data shows that little hope for him becoming an impact NHL player I think selecting him with a high 1st would be a terrible idea, especially when guys like Hage, Greentree, Jiricek and MBN are all available and track significantly better.
Also FTR: I don't think you're wrong that he could be a top-15 pick, I think there's a good chance he will be. I'm just saying my personal opinion is that he absolutely should not be

First crack at a top 10
I'm not even trying to be a dick but I'm just genuinely curious at this point: I've seen like ~5 people mock Boisvert to Philly and commented on all of them saying I think it'd be a horrific pick, guys with his DY statistical profile almost seldom to never end up being high end players. Why are people higher on him than guys like Helenius, Greentree, even Hage who had a considerably better season?

I think you're underrating Demidov. I get it's hard to find RHD and Centers and that it'd be tempting to take other guys before him, but he's the 2nd BPA by a pretty wide margin in this draft class.

Flyers 2024 Offseason
TK trade looks decent, but I would avoid taking Clifton back if possible and I'd guess Kulich will end up being a LW long term in the NHL. If we wanted a Center I'd target Ostlund instead
Florida will not let that offer sheet go unmatched, and honestly Philly would be making a huge mistake going any higher than that given the fact that there's a very real chance they regress pretty hard next season and would likely be giving away a top-12 pick in that case
Toronto trade is fine in value but the Flyers are looking to get bigger in size, I can't imagine Robertson is a guy they'll view as a fit
Lastly, the Ottawa trade is <em>way</em> off. Like, the Flyers are getting absolutely robbed blind in that deal, I'd be looking for at least triple the value coming back from the Flyers side if they were gonna move Frost.
I could see an offseason similarish to this going down (with the exception being the Frost trade), but a couple of minor things being different

Everything else aside, the fact that the adjective you used to describe him was "slow" tells me there's absolutely no shot whatsoever you've watched him play in any meaningful capacity and are probably basing your entire opinion off of JFresh cards. He's got a lot of flaws as a player, but skating isn't even close to one of them

After the collapse
I think TK might actually end up getting traded after all with how hard this collapse has been paired with how much he's been asking for. I think trading him is the right call but we'll see.
Ostlund isn't the piece for Laughton, I'd probably do that for a 2nd rounder
