They could get three Sean Monahans and it wouldn't justify moving that 1st. Totally untouchable after another DJ Smith start to the season.

2018 re-draft
Brady Tkachuk is definitely Better than Hughes, and I'd argue his physical edge puts him over Svechnikov, but it's pretty close either way. Dahlin is definitely still 1st overall.

There's a pretty obvious "why not" for Calgary.
I don't think anyone bites on Formenton tbh.

We need to trade Alex DeBrincat for a RHD, no one else</div></div>
I know contracts are a factor, but I'd still take Cat. The goals are gonna come, he gets chances and he works hard. Batherson has struggled this season too, and when he's off he might as well be in the press box. He's so talented, but his lack of consistent effort night over night is brutal, I don't know how he hasn't taken more **** for it this season.

The other 2 untouchables I'd say are Tkachuk and Sanderson, with Stu are the 3 key players in the rebuild
Norris, Batherson and Chabot are also very unlikely to get moved but not as untouchable
The only significant player the Sens can afford to move is Alex DeBrincat</div></div>
I know he's on a great deal, but I'd trade Batherson for a top 4 D in a heartbeat.

Off your rocker if you think Ottawa has any business trading Stützle. Point per game player at 20, he's not even close to at his peak.

Horrible deal for Ottawa. They give up a top pair defensive RHD for an extra D, a nothing pick and a bottom six forward

Is Ryan Whitney an idiot or a genius
Ryan Whitney is absolutely an idiot. You don't even need him to open his gob to tell that he's a cement head, you just need to look into his dead eyes to tell there's no higher level thought happening there.
That said, if Boston can clear the cap space (big if right now) they have absolutely no reason not to be in on Kane. There's no tomorrow for this group, they should be in on anyone who might help them win.

Wish Orlov was RD but Washington going to find a way to keep him, they have to</div></div>
I think either would be fine to play the offside tbh. Orlov played the right side early in his career I believe, when he played with Brooks Orpik and Nate Schmidt. And Gavrikov's game would compliment the Sens two top LD, even if he's playing off hand.
Also adding a big minute LD could let you experiment with Jake and Thomas together. I really want to see how Sanderson-Chabot would work.
Ideally, yeah you'd find a big body RHD who can soak up minutes like Zub, but for this post there are three guys in the whole league who are Russian, Ottawa has two of them and one of them is the guy you're looking to replace. The other one is Ilya Lyubushkin

Value of Karlsson
Lmao that's nearly as much as Ottawa got for him in his prime. He's 32, even if he's having a monster season he's on the wrong side of 30, and it's not like his insane injury has just disappeared because he's playing insanely well. Ottawa doesn't do Karl for Sanderson straight up.

Sure, but Zach Ostapchuk + a 2nd in the 35ish range is very much in that zone. Maybe Ottawa chucks in another pick or something, but as a base for a deal it's valid imo.

Getting Zub Some Russians
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>Two-way "reliability" centers - that part of the pipeline basically consists of Voronkov and that's kind of it (unless one still counts Sillinger as a prospect). Thus why I mentioned Grieg. We're full to busting on wingers on either side (some of which are also transition guys like Gaudreau and KJ), we've got plenty of prospect blueliners developing, and we've got a few very nice nuclear-boom-or-bust folks mixed in (*cough*cough*dumais*cough*). But we're a bit short on Quality Worker Bee and/or physical space-defining centers. (Hence also why we've had some interest in Horvat, despite the timing of acquiring him being potentially awkward and the extension price possibly being out of reach.)
We're also possibly a tad short on goaltending prospects behind Tarasov, but I can't imagine a goaltending prospect being considered an adequate substitute.</div></div>
Zach Ostapchuk fits into that mold. 19, 6'3 205. Big two way C with good skating and pretty soft hands. Had pretty pedestrian offensive production in the regular season last year, but he more than made up for it by being a double point a game player in the playoffs. Off to a rocking start this year. Doesn't have the top 6 upside that Greig has, but he's got a better NHL frame. I think he will be that kind stereotypical 3C. Size, faceoffs, PK1, some PP2. Play against top lines.

They f*cked up so bad by not signing him to 8 years. You trade anyone not names Oettenger or Heiskanen to make that work. On pace for 70 goals, 133 points 21 games into the season. Gonna make like 15mil at the end of this vs the 9mil ish they could have had him for those 4 years

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>Ottawa doesn't have the "mid-to-late 1st" that we've been asking for for Gavrikov in the event we can't resign him (that 1st is, ah, considerably higher :) ), so the only likely available route is an equivalent-value prospect at a position and/or with a skillset we need. Which would make it difficult to come up with an agreement. Personally I think it works for the Jackets if Grieg is offered straight up, but that could easily be seen as a Bad Idea.</div></div>
Despite Ottawa's off season, their 2nd is somehow tracking to be pretty close to a late 1st in value (Thanks DJ). Ottawa Definitely has the assets to bridge that gap, but certainly not Greig imo.
What would CBJ be looking for in terms of prospects?

Jack Capuano is perfectly capable of being the tank commander. I can't listen to another 62 games of DJ Smith talking about how good our chances were and how good the other goalie was.
