time to groom Marner and JTs replacement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Lol who is replacing Marner?</div></div>
I'm not the OP, nor a Leafs fan, but I would assume he is referring to OHL MVP Easton Cowan. May be a bit of a rich projection though...

Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion Part 7 - Shambles
A lot of call ups today since the Marlies lost this week, I wonder if it will impact the lineup. (Doubtful)
Matthews is out, hopefully the boys can step up tonight again.

He had a Todd Gill type rush once or twice, like out of no where...he is still a project but I see a way better version now then in camp when he was awful

I see something in Knies I haven’t seen in a Leaf for many moons. That goal (credit to Tavares as well) was just old skool simple hockey…especially OT hockey…no tic tac toe needed
But ya Knies has a very high ceiling imo, just needs a couple of years to fill out and learn the game a little and you got a true power forward big game guy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>It doesn't look like the chase to the record is going to be as fast as he thought. He'll stay in Washington in his attempt. Matthews scores goals. Could he get 100 assists? Doubtful. But if he played with McDavid, I bet he scores over a goal a game.</div></div>
Well let me stop all the crazy stuff…
ya not 100 assists but he is a great passer and could and should have more assists. I like him with Domi but the other side needs an upgrade from Bertuzzi. Not too impressed with him aside for a game or two around his birthday.
Big game tomorrow! I was impressed with the way they hung in there the last game, haven’t seen that in a while and some.

Leafs wo marner
No thanks to 33 year old Schenn for four years.....even Parayko for six years is iffy.
Leafs spend aren't spending on 6m on a goalie....especially if means trading Minten and a 1st away.
Another totally impractical 20 man roster with just six NHL Dmen.

Can we stop kidding ourselves with Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Can we also stop trading Liljegren? He's a top 4 defenceman on a playoff team. He's the 2nd best defenceman on the Leafs. He's not a problem.</div></div>
I agree, I am merely looking at different options. This idea gives a good young defenseman that did very well in Arizona now Utah.
Liljegren is still fairly young and many defensemen ripen around around age 27 so Liljegren still has a ceiling to potentially reach. At around 2.9 million that is a good number for him.
My trade gave an option, but I would also hate to trade Liljegren unless we got another very good defender in return.

Game 3 0/5
Basically the one time they got a PP goal past them was through a lucky pass to JT and Ullmark not Swayman was in net.
Will wait and see but unless BOS all of a sudden starts slipping bad 2 or 3 total PP goals probs to be expected
If somehow we go 5/25 by the end its okay what happened lul</div></div>
It's more-so the reset of 5 days and the rest he got could make the difference... And he wasn't healthy G3...
If we go 5/25 by the end of the series... Leafs will win the series which is crazy to think about

Lines for Game 6
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>The thing is though, whatever line Matthews is on, he's the target. He's never getting easier matchups. Could mean good things for the other two lines but it hurts Matthews who's not 100%</div></div>
I think I'd rather have Coyle/Marchand on Matthews+Holmberg+Robertson than Coyle on Matthews+Domi+Bert
And Robertson+Matthews has worked effortlessly in the past
And we know Holmberg can get Marchand to take stupid penalties...

Yep
Reminds me of the Pitt game and is one of the reasons I argue for TOR to explore bringing back Domi as JT's eventual top 6 C replacement. He should not cost a lot and when you surround him with the right players he thrives. Its just the stupid penalties and defese that get us going but above point stands.
If you can get him on a Paul deal added bonus

Either way, it was heck of a game. It makes you wonder why the Leafs can't play like that more often. Kinda like their winning streak in the west road trip without Reilly. Just go for it.

I hope so, I thought Tavares scored there. It was funny watching Pastrnak pushing around but emphatically refusing to fight Knies. You can read Knies’ lips saying, “You want to go? I didn’t think so!”

Again its playoffs we need to stop blaming the refs and going ugh soft, dive, etc.
TOR has taken enough offensive zone penalties to kill momentum numerous times
Enough is enough play smarter.

Maybe just settle for a new coach this offseason</div></div>
Im kind of in agreement and also contract year fever is a thing
Like last time he had a contract year fever 94 points and in playoffs scored a crazy penalty shot goal and blocked a bunch of Marchand shots with his face
Unless someone offers a stupid good deal that is basically a Leafs robbery just keep and see especially under a new system. Cause who knows maybe we see 35 goals and 85 assists
Maybe Berube, Sullivan, whoever can fix things

Whats the definition of insanity again lol?
All jokes aside, I agree the door isn’t completely closed on a comeback. But there’s no reason to expect it in the slightest. Best to go into it expecting a loss and if they can give us 3 wins, then great!
