You could retain 50% on Karl and add a 1st and Ottawa isn't taking that lmao

Ottawa Overhaul
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Sanderson isn't an offensive defenseman....He's more of a defensive guy. Doesn't think the game offensively all that well. Defensively though he's great with his positioning and being able to use his feet. Brodin doesn't help our PP at all which needs to improve if we're to get better. Vegas (Pietrangelo), Col (Makar), TB (Hedman/Sergachev), Pit (Letang)..... See the pattern? You need a go-to offensive defenseman. Sanderson maxes out at 50 points. As it is we don't really have a top end offensive defenseman. Just outside of Zub we don't really have any good defenseman defensively either....</div></div>
Actually that does make sense, but I do really like what Sanderson brings offensively. I think we can still use Chabot to quarterback the power play, but I think what Brodin brings is stabilazies our defense 5 on 5 and on the PK which hasn't been great at times. Sanderson is what i'd tier as a 2 way defender, but I do, like I said, think he brings some good offense as well. I think using Chabot less 5 on 5 and more for the power play could be a good move, if we where to bring in a more defensive defender this off season. However I do really like some of the points you make.

Another bad year and then 2 options
With the way this season went and having to forfeit a 1st (likely 2026) I can’t see the sens doing this in advance. Maybe at the deadline if things are looking good but definitely not in the summer!

I think that Steve Staios would rather have pick #5 - #7 and $10.6 million in cash plus the cap space than three seasons of Erik Karlsson.

Meh Johanson was a good player but that time has long gone. Guy skates like he has cement in his skates. Think Ottawa could spend 2m on a better player

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Dude.... If you think Ottawa is taking $6M of cap hit off your hands for a player that has less than 30 points? Never going to happen. If Staios does give that a shot? It will only be because they deem Norris out for the entire season. If they did deem him out for the season, Philly is retaining $2M and throwing in a top prospect or 1st round pick. If you will recall the price Briere wanted for taking Joseph and his rwmaining contract on? They wanted a 1st rounder or Tyler Boucher who was a 1st rounder.... Joseph's cap hit is $3.25M... So come on lets be realistic here.... If Ottawa is taking on Johansson at $6M a season.... It's going to cost Philly an absolute fortune.</div></div>
Johansson's cap hit would be only 2M. The preds are retaining 50% of it already.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Mantha has basically been a 4th line player the past couple of years.... decided to score a few goals to earn a contract. People see the character there. Mantha doesn't really play a playoff-style of game either,.. Tarasenko always produces, and look at Tarasenko's playoff stats.... The guy brings it, and he's physical and far more a leader than Mantha. Plus Tarasenko comes at a lower cap hit. Likely why Vegas passed, Ottawa wanted the 1st round pick.... Or they likely would've gone with the cvup champ and proven playoff performer.</div></div>
Looks like it was even less than what I predicted lol

We're not giving up the most valuable trade asset we've ever had for a UFA. That would be the stupidest idea any Ducks GM ever had.

Brady Tkachuk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Okay the Habs messed up taking KK over Tkachuk... Suzuki is not a 70 point player either..... never has been. Pinto has 13 points in 16 games as the 3rd line center... Pinto likely gets 2nd line minutes next year if Norris is on LTIR. Speaking of LTIR, You have benefitted from both Weber and Price being on LTIR so you didn't lose them per say you sure as hell used their cap space to the Habs advantage... Gallagher, Savard, Allen, etc.... Ottawa kept NO ONE not even the goaltender. Anderson is another player they could've moved and didn't.
Agree Montreal has some good young players and prospects. Still think they are fairly shallow in terms of talent. I mean Ottawa and Buffalo reallyu struggled. Ottawa got rid of the coach which was Ottawa's biggest problem. Not sure what is wrong with Buffalo but they could just as easily turn it around as well next season. I still think the Habs are 2-3 years away. Unless of course they really hit in trades and at the draft.</div></div>
I like Ottawa's chances next season as well, Buffalo still need better goaltending, I think Tampa is gonna fall hard but who knows they still have some great players. Suzuki is gonna hit 70 for sure this season he is at 59 with 22 games to go, he would have to go the rest of the way under .5 ppg to not hit 70 and right now he is at .98 ppg, so seriously doubt he falls that hard down the stretch. Habs don't have too much elite talent as of yet Zuke, CC, Dach and Slaf are about as close as they have and Dach in my mind is still a huge question mark due to injuries, and CC hasn't been consistent enough to get there yet. Hutson and Reinbacher both have potential to be elite one day but only time will tell on them. The thing I like about the Habs chances is they have a lot of top 6/top 4 talented players. Guys like right now for top 6 forwards heading into next year Habs have Zuke, CC, Slaf, Dach, Newhook, Roy and Anderson but that's without considering prospects that could make the jump like Beck, Mesar, Kapenen, and Farrell, plus whoever we get from this draft. As far ad top 4 D we have Matheson, Savard, Guhle, Harris and Struble, with Reinbacher, Hutson, Mailoux, engstrom, Konyushkov and Barron all having the ability to push for a roster spot next year (with the exception of Konyushkov cause he can't come over until 2026 but his talent is as high). It's the shear depth of talent, not elite talent but still very high end talent that has Habs fans and management believing they can and will fight for a playoff spot if they can remain healthy for the full season.
