(WPG/NYR) - Trouba for Pionk & 1st round pick (#20 - WPG)
Was hoping to get a little more, but I'll take it for a player 1 year away from UFA.
Edit: from Freidman, no extension in place

Poink is not terrible, but the Rangers are getting Trouba at a bargain for sure. Surprised not another pick or player is involved.

Seriously Fletcher...WTF are you doing? You give up a 2nd and a 3rd to a cap strapped team for a guy with 1 year left on his contract...are you fking mental?

Philadelphia Flyers signed Kevin Hayes (7 Years / $7,142,857 AAV)
And it's 7 years. You gotta be kidding me, Chucky.
I feel like our team has been subjected to a hostile takeover.
Edit: After further thought, I'm totally fine with this deal. But man, the sticker shock certainly packed a punch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>biglite351</b></div><div>Gudas is garbage (dirty). Not the direction I want to go. however, went from $5.75M cap hit to $2.3M, that opens a good amount of space for actual quality.</div></div>
Solid 3rd pairing dman. For a great cap hit. Idc if he’s dirty....,bc he’s on my team now. :)

Makes no sense from the FLyers perspective. Gudas and Niskanen are basically equal so why take on $3.4 cap and remove a good locker room guy?

Jets get a free draft pick for a player that wasn’t going to stay. Flyers don’t give up a lot for a player that according to Friedman, Lebrun and John Shannon, has not committed to signing with Philly yet. Fair for both sides

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>As far as the contract itself, that's what you'd expect for a 3rd pair RD, but man, I do not see how this guy keeps getting signed. He's not very good.</div></div>
he keeps getting signed because he's a physical player willing to do the grunt work of being a defense man. That's what it boils down to. I like him as a depth guy, 7th man, put him in when you need to be a bit heavier in the game. Something teams like to add in the playoffs. Not only will he hit people, but he's 6'2 240 lbs and he'll scrap it up with you if you aren't careful.
So yeah, he's not winning any award for being the most skilled guy on the ice. But winning in the playoffs isn't always about being the most skilled. It's about taking care of things and doing what needs to be done. And he's a willing player at that.

Back to the signing. Good depth signing at low risk as it's only a 1 year contract. 3rd pairing guy and depth is what most teams look for ;) good signing in Dallas!!

Should have got Vancouver to retain a bit, Gudbranson is not worth 4mil a year from the looks of it, it is nice to have somebody to beat the other teams goons up but 4mil is a lot for an enforcer that Sullivan may or may not play(I.E Reaves)

It's going to be a dirty playoffs. It always was, but even more so with all the TDL acquisitions of extra big bodies hoping for one more contract
Almost all the best teams right now are sneaky dirty. All start brawls after the whistle. Refs are not, and will not be prepared to intervene until things slow down from injuries and suspensions.

They needed someone to keep teams honest. They got a guy who went toe to toe with wilson who tried to jump him and won.
People aren't looking at this trade right. The penguins won this trade. He'll help clean up some of the thuggery. They unloaded pearson which had to happen. I hope they bring in Angelo for the forward spot now.
Too worried about his defensive stats. He'll be fine. He has a lot more talent around him now.

I think Pittsburgh wins because Tanner was doing nothing for us. Gudbranson could improve greatly with the influence of Gonchar because the skills that Serg has Gudbranson needs. This is the key element and Pittsburgh had to add a D man.

Do they think they can beat Tampa/Colombus with one big move? Or do they stay patient, get playoff exp and reallu go all in next year.
