Dreger is reporting that Toronto will name their new head coach on Tuesday, which in my eyes all but confirms that Berube is the guy. Contracts are all finished up, and the announcement will occur after the long weekend.
Welcome to Toronto, Craig!

Big Mac is only 30, is a solid physical presence, can play forward and defense, and is a solid veteran to keep around. Fully buriable cap hit, so this is really not a huge deal.
Good signing

Look Here - Another Marner to Nashville Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Why wouldn't Korczak be on Vegas's roster next season? Martinez and 5.3 contract will be gone. If he's an NHLer at 1.2m, as you indicate, why Vegas trade him
A "willingness to resign". No, it has to be signed contract. Marner right now is just fair value at best with 11m contract. There is no benefit trading good assets just to resign Marner.Just as good value can be as UFAs this season or next. Isn't that the reason you traded Marner.....better value for 11m.</div></div>
Hanifin - Pietrangelo
McNabb - Theodore
Hague - Whitecloud
Hutton
Korczak
And if the Leafs trade Marner prior to July 1st (at the draft per say), it can't officially come with an extension. There can be a handshake deal, but it can't be official. That's the whole point I was trying to make. You seem to forget how good Marner is. The fact he's a pending UFA won't change anything, Marner is a superstar and if you want him then you're paying the premium. That's not a player you move just for the sake of moving.

Look Here - Another Marner to Nashville Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Can't see Vegas trading a young NHL Dmen for a young NHL winger.
Age old question. Why does Marner waive to Nashville in contract year? Of course why does Nashville do the trade. Keep Saros, a former 1st rounder and have 5m in cap</div></div>
Korczak is a very good young defender. The issue is that he is Vegas' 8D next season and loses his waiver exemption. They are tight on cap space and are losing a bunch of forwards this offseason, primarily wingers. Robertson would get a legit shot there and would be a very savvy pickup. Meanwhile, Korczak is a physical defensive defenseman who shoots right and has an immediate role in Toronto. This trade actually makes a lot of sense.
Also, the obvious stipulation in the Marner deal is that Marner would indicate a willingness to re-sign in Nashville. Sure, they can keep Saros and their 5 mil, but what good is that? Who are they adding for 5m that makes an impact like Marner does? Plus, they've got Askarov. Maybe he gets included in the trade instead

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>If you are all looking for a name most fan won't know who is going to impact the Leafs next year the answer is Jacob Quillan. He is higher on the center depth chart than Minten (not as high of potential but closer to reaching his).
I'd be shocked if he didn't get some games in the NHL and wouldn't be surprised if he got a job out of camp or earned a place on the roster during the season.
Out of the names you provided, Webber will be the 7-9th D so likely to get games. Niemla could honestly be traded, he isn't going to be a stud and even if he hit his potential today he's at best a Lili replacement if Lili flops. But he could get games if he's in the organization.</div></div>
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5027491">100000% agree</a>
People don't understand how good Quillan is and how close he is to being an NHL player. The intensity he plays him will bring him places. Really solid natural center who doesn't male overly flashy plays but does everything right. Excites to see what he does over the summer, hopefully he gets a legit chance in the preseason 🤞

Mattinen may get a look, I feel like he will be callup option number one. Hell, he may even be apart of our plans at 3RD.
I'd love to see Niemela get games. I'm such a big fan of his, he has been excellent with the Marlies every step of the way. Kokkonen received high praise under Keefe, but LD is a complete log jam. I think Webber would fill in as an LD replacement before Kokkonen. Chadwick will probably not touch NHL ice next season, and same goes for Villeneuve who was very disappointing this season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Z0ra</b></div><div>Your analysis on Stiga is correct, but he is in my opinion a top 10 player in this draft. Though I don't see the Stankoven comp, he's more Eklund if anything. Unreal defensively and finds the open area offensively. And the best skater in the draft. Stankoven normally tends to squeeze by defenders whereas Stiga doesn't.</div></div>
I agree about him being a top 10 talent. People don't understand how good Stiga is. The Stankoven comp is more to do with his excellent motor and tenacity despite his misleading smaller frame. Doesn't really have a shot like Stankoven does.
Regardless, the team that walks away with Stiga is going to be VERY happy. It's a little scary that his draft team will likely be an already competitive team

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #6: The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup
Not going to lie, I'm curious to see what it will be like in New Jersey if Keefe gets hired. He's a solid coach, but he leans a lot on low-maintainance 2 way guy. Really likes his defensive specialists. Has a harder time incorporating younger guys into the lineup and struggles hard with less than average skaters. There aren't a lot of David Kampfs or Alex Kerfoots on NJs roster.
I've got a feeling that Haula and Palat are in for good seasons if Keefe gets in. Holtz will not get the playing time he deserves, Clarke will be a scratch, Meier will suffer, and Siegenthaler - Marino is going to get a lot of ice time.
Really curious how his structure will apply to a team that can afford to have a deeper forward group. I think he is going to love that blue line
