<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsfan2121</b></div><div>Why is it when someone leaves this team they become successful</div></div>
I assume this is about Stephenson, who I'm happy got a deserved all-star nom. That being said, he showed very little with the Caps with a grand total of 33 points in 168 games (for context Dowd has 95 in 284 with WSH while playing very similar minutes). Washington also already had two elite centers to play in their top 6, and Vegas needed literally anyone to play with Stone and Pacioretty. It sucks to think about what could have been, but important to keep in mind 1) almost all of the "should of kept!!!!" guys were ones that no one had any problem moving at the time and 2) for every Stephenson that left and turned out great there are 10 Madison Boweys and Brett Connollys and Christian Djooses that the team correctly moved on from.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>I definitely see where you're coming from on the Devils and Kraken. The Devils don't have much playoff experience on the roster and I don't know if I trust their goaltending to keep playing up to this level, but Meier is certainly a threat if he goes to NJ (Bratt probably is gone though, I'd think). Kraken to me just need some stable goaltending. I love Grubie, but he's cooked, and perhaps someone in the goalie market can help them out. (Varlamov maybe if NYI wants to move salary?)
Right now, I think Washington is built well for playoff time and the amount of depth + playoff experience makes me think they can surprise someone in the first round, they just need to get to the dance first. With BUF having the 3rd toughest schedule from here on out, FLA dealing with inconsistent goaltending, and NYI still seeming to be more of a two gun team on offense, I think WSH will just have to deal with PIT from behind to get into the playoffs. Hoping the All Star break can reset the team and give them a jump to try and get past NYR for 3rd in the division.</div></div>
I say this now - obviously things might change.
But I'd love to face the Devils in the first round. So certainly agree, hopefully the Caps can push NYR out of 3rd place.

I'd love Garland, but not at that price. Report from Fourth Period is that VAN will buy him out this summer if they can't trade him so his value isn't exactly super high.

Caps obviously hard pass. They probably wouldn't even do Mantha for Boeser straight up, let alone giving up a good bottom 6 center and very good defensive prospect. VAN would need to throw in a lot more to make that work.

Caps pass. They aren't spending a 1st on a below average defender, especially a left handed one, where they are stacked (Gus, Orlov, Fehervary, Alexeyev)/

Islanders getting Horvat really doesn't concern me. I still think they will miss the playoffs, despite this move. I am concerned about the growing rumors about Meier to the Devils.
I seriously think as of right now, Devils are not contenders. I know they are doing well in the standings, but I don't see them being built for the playoffs (I feel the same about the Kraken). Now if they get a guy like Meier, that does change slightly...

1. 3/4 of the top 4 in the west (Vegas, Winnipeg and Dallas)
2. Panthers I think this will be the point they’ll fall out of the playoff hunt and I’ll add the Islanders as well and then it’s just a three way race between Washington, Pittsburgh and Buffalo
3 and 4.Not gonna say anyone because I think these will be the final playoff teams

We are a very good team, if we're healthy. Should get Willy and Dowd out of the All Star break. After that it's just waitingon Carlson.
As for the trade. I don't hate it, but remove the 2nd or make it a late pick.

Stick to your moral compasses. The criticisms surrounding Mr. Hull are valid and have been for years and are going to re-emerge as he briefly enters our 24 hour news cycle. If it bothers you that the criticisms are being placed before the man, you're under no obligation to internalize it. Pay your respects as you will but recognize that there are those who will put those criticisms before the man. Likewise, there's no room to belittle someone paying their respects because of what Mr. Hull did.
Very few people make it through life unscathed. Most of us are good people with a few less-than-savory things to our names. A few of us are decent people tainted by rather scathing moments that the masses rightfully should bemoan. Very few of us are genuinely awful people. This is the human experience. Mr. Hull is neither just his accomplishments nor his failings.

Playoffs Playoffs who would have thought it in October
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>First of all, good lord that’s a mighty large contract for Jensen. I doubt any team will go anywhere near over 6 mil for a 32 year old, especially when Buffalo will have other important contracts coming up.
It is incredibly unlikely that Washington would move Jensen in the first place since it seems that they will push for a playoff spot and with Carlson out, Jensen is their best RD by a long shot. In the unlikely case Washington will sell him, it’ll almost certainly be for a 1st. With Buffalo’s 2nd being a middle of the road pick and Bloom being a bit of an uninspiring add (decent OHL production but I don’t see his ceiling being high enough for Washington to bite), I think Washington would get better offers and would likely force any prospective team to pay at least a 1st for his services.</div></div>
It's not 6.75 a year, that's the total of the 2 years, it's a bump from his 2.5m. And you might be right about the 1st. But think that's a decent offer for a him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsfan2121</b></div><div>guys would it be a good idea to upgarde over mojo?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsfan2121</b></div><div>Oshie has been deadweight</div></div>
I think MoJo has played exceptional, but having him be number 2 in goals for the Caps really really shows just how bad the "stars" have been and how, not even depth scoring, but top 6 scoring has been bad. So I am agreeing that we need to upgrade top 6 scoring, and play Sheary in bottom 6 (as perrystreet stated). Really hurts that Connor Brown is out because I believe he would have filled that top 6 scoring nicely.
We need much more out of Kuzy, Oshie, Orlov, Mantha (obviously), and Hathaway (I know he is a 4th liner, but still).
I think this all-star break is coming at a perfect time. We are sliding (as we always do in January), and this downtime is very important as all the lingering injuries will hopefully be addressed and the team can reset (mentally and physically).
Really hoping they can pull off a W against CBJ...big game tomorrow.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>Adam Henrique's reaction is very telling. Whatever Z said had him shocked.</div></div>
That's what stood out to me, too. Normally in a scrum, you'd expect to see very different body language. Henrique and MacTavish both looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. I mean, it could simply have been a "Here we go again" reaction, but it definitely seemed like a line was crossed. Zegras picked up the extra ten, too. Again, maybe that's for the extra lumber on the guy on the ground, but might be another hint that the interaction was not typical chirping in a scrum.
