They say to him Mitch you have to go to a bottom feeder because we want a change. Mitch, well l will just play out this season and walk, you leafs can puck-off and get nothing for me.

Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>I don’t see how you think the timelines align. Ducks are ~ 3 years from realistically competing & Marner is in his prime now. I think the Ducks would be better to sign short term vet FAs, take their lumps and let promising young core develop. Maybe a few years from now - make a big trade but seems too early to me</div></div>
if they get him with an 8 year extension, while having a year left, then 3 years from now they'll have 6 years left of Marner, as he's 29-30 years old, which is a bit older than you'd like but guys like Marner aren't available often and getting him still in his prime most likely for a few years when they're competitive could be worthwhile

The Kings will be happy they have a 95m cap. Kings don't do the trade anyway for one year of Marner.

Trade for Draisatl
Oilers won't do that. Even if they know they're going to lose him in 2025 they shouldn't throw away a year where they could genuinely win the Stanley Cup unless someone blows them out of the water with an absurd offer

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>He’s had a good year, but hard to argue 2021-22 or 2022-23 weren’t down years (GAA >3.0, sv% of 0.901 & 0.894 & negative saves above expected) . Just personal opinion - very few goalies deserve term and aav > $3.0M; performance is too variable for 95-98% of nhl goalies.</div></div>
That’s very fair, I will say those two years our defense was a black hole, but 21 he was good, just hung out to dry at least once a game usually more
Last year, year he let in way to many softies

Nothing in for the Leafs in the Pens trade as the Leafs make a Cup run. Why does M NTC Kampf have Coyotes are any team with cap on his trade list?

The Leaf don't or need a 4m goalie especially Elvis. There are better cheaper goalies as UFAs.
Why would Marner waive to Coyotes especially in contract year.?

Get Good Again 2025
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Leafs can’t afford Binnington’s cap hit. Leafs don’t have the luxury of committing that much $ to goalie position. And it’s too much to spend on an inconsistent goalie anyway; good year in 2023 but coming off a few down years. Position is voodoo for 95% of nhl goalies</div></div>
I agree with you about the voodoo, and honestly the Blues might get poor goaltending results by keeping their same tandem. But I do think teams will poke around on Binnington after his performance this year, maybe not Leafs.

4 years of 5m of middling Rakell is a contract is a big negative for the Leafs. I know cap has to be returned to the Leafs but Rakell isn't it.

Marner yes or no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fil97</b></div><div>1. every team in the NHL has the assets to acquire Marner. every single NHL team.
2. rakell is not a dump, but either way take him out of the trade no big deal.
3. the main part of the deal is Broz and a 1st which is exactly what guentzel (same level player) was worth. not saying this is the trade or the right one but he isn't going to cost 1 dollar more than Guentzel.
4. 1st + good prospect that's it. can be broz or pickering (not yager lol).
please lets stop the narrative that he is going to go for 3 1st 100 prospects and macdsvid just cuz he plays in Toronto.</div></div>
Except that Marner is younger and better than Guentzel and Pittsburgh was a team that clearly had no chance at playoffs and had to sell. Toronto likely keeps Marner of they can't find a deal for him because they're bound to be in the playoffs again. Dubas got absolutely hosed in the Guentzel deal because he had no choice but to accept it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoryTheGreat</b></div><div>Can’t let Marner walk for nothing lol and I’d like to hear your plans for the leafs D? Seems like a lot of Dubas boot lickers on this site want more small puck movers on the blue line when it hasn’t worked for the last 8 years.</div></div>
Nonsense. Marner has a full NMC....let's have some logic to where he agree to a trade destination. And what teams that he might agree to traded too who has cap?
Look at the Leafs roster.....Bertuzzi, Domi, Samsonov, Jones, Benoit, Brodie, Tavares...all these players were signed by the Leafs without compensation going back to their previous.
Look at your roster your just posted. You signed UFAs, Lindholm, Pesce, Roy, Monahan, Stecher.....all signed without compensation, but somewhere the Leafs are entitled to compensation.
That's just homer selfish.
Regarding the the Leafs signing of UFA Dmen. It's just unwise to sign 30 year Dmen to long term contracts. Crazy to sign players who have peaked and likely will be the decline very soon. That has nothing to do with size....It's NHL playing ability.
