I'm not sure the Oilers would decline the Zadina one. Cheaper, bigger winger, with a higher scoring ability. The other trades I would agree with. I also don't know why people are so quick to dump Campbell. Does no one understand how bad it would look to any other free agent that was thinking of signing here. Also, put who is making what money aside, a tandem of Skinner and Campbell making 7 million for the next two years is a positive for this team. No way I would be attaching a first to him just to sign a different 30 yo goalie that will back up Stu

I like this roster but I think some of the moves are a little far fetched. Doubt the Oilers can convince Bouch to sign for 8 years. Also might be smarter for them on a long term deal to go like 4-5 years at a lower hit. I like the idea of shipping off Ceci to sign Severson. I also love the Konecny deal. Not sure there needs to be two high picks in that trade, just the first or the second might do it. My last gripe is that I don't think its smart or possible for the Oilers to attach assets to move out Campbell. Lots of reasons for this: other free agents will notice, a tandem of him and Stuart is still relatively cheap at 7 mil, and goalies do have a history of going to a new place and struggling in year one. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Campbell has been good enough, but I think we give it some patience and see where this tandem can take us over the next few seasons while Stuart is on a good deal. Really like the Lavoie idea and the D looks really nice to me.

I said your offer was "overtly unappetizing offer for the Blues", which it so very much is. AND there are no rumors. None. Meanwhile, as you accuse me for some unknown reason of overvaluing Blues players, a guy who <strong>publicly </strong>questioned if he can hack it in the NHL gets the basically "like a third (1st round pick)" treatment.
Funny stuff, man.</div></div>
"Overtly unappetizing" would suggest you think two first round picks and a young project player isn't enough and that you expect the equivalent of three-four first round picks. Never said Jesse was worth a 1st. Infact, he's likely somewhere between a 2 and 3. Add Barrie and you have around the value of three first round picks. Never meant rumors to mean real rumblings. I said in this hypothetical situation and then said rumors meaning the CapFriendly community buzzing about dealing him over the last few weeks. So, like I have repeated, keep over valuing your players and having no fun looking at realistic trade offers.

Just saying hypothetically. If they aren't looking to move him all these rumours are mute anyway. But if the blues are on the brink of a rebuild, first round picks and high-end prospects are exactly what teams want. But if you just want to start simple, the Oilers first round pick this year, their first round pick from last year, and a player that has a ton of raw skill but needs a new home are three appealing pieces. Gotta include Barrie to make the cap work from the Oilers side but he's also got value in being a hole filler for the blues and a future (easily) tradeable asset. Don't over value the blues players just because you're a fan. You aren't getting the equivalent of four first round picks for any player.

They’ve been just as rumoured in on Klingberg and a righty makes way more sense if the Oilers front office thinks Broberg is a keeper. Why continuously add to the left to hold back the prospects. We have no right shot prospects so go get a high end RHD to play with Nurse and bump down Ceci.

I keep telling people, you can't just pile up a bunch of stuff they don't want for a ornerstone player that is crazy difficult and expensive to replace. It's not a suitable teardown trade or a suitable trying to compete trade. It's half of both and not good enough for either.</div></div>
So you’re telling me a team looking to move on from a “corner stone” player wouldn’t be interested in a first round pick, a world juniors caliber prospect, and project player that for a retooling team might break out and help a quicker rebuild. It’s basically two first round picks and like a 3rd. look at the recent packages for players. Eichel didn’t return this much for the Sabres.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>He's not saying he puts Jesse's value at a 2nd or 3rd, he's saying he puts Jesse at a 4th. It was rumored that Holland was asking for a 2nd for Jesse this offseason (at the draft, specifically), but couldn't get one. As he said, Jesse is an interesting candidate to take a flyer on, if he can be successfully rehabbed he could be a good 2nd line RW for the Ducks, I would wonder how well he would do on a line with McTavish and Bedard (should we get him)
The biggest stumbling block is the extra year of Barrie, and the Ducks really not wanting a player like him. we desperately need to overhaul our defense next season with defensively minded guys, and Barrie occupying a spot that we could put a big beastie is going to hurt our overall defense.
Now, if we keep Helleson in the AHL to start the year, let Barrie teach Drysdale and Zellweger how to score off the faceoff on a PP, and ship Barrie off next TDL with retention, its maybe not the end of the world. Maybe he can get Vaakainen working properly, or maybe we leave him working with Benoit, who seems to have worked well with Klingberg this season. There's a lot of variables, including a new coach to consider.
All that said, bumping the 2nd to the 23 1st probably gets the deal done.</div></div>
And I'm saying Jesse's value is atleast a 3rd. I think you're on the right track and were on the same page with Barrie. I think he does have value to the Ducks. Even with one more year on his deal the Ducks aren't looking to be Stanley Cup contenders right away next season and they likely lose Klingberg, Kulikov and Shattenkirk. Like you said, Barrie would be a great PP teacher for Zellweger and Drysdale for one year and they can move him. He is an asset and I agree that if there is a 1st in there it likely gets done. I'll change it up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>With all the talk around poolparty being a non-tender candidate, the most I see the Ducks giving up is a 4th. The Oilers couldnt get a second at the draft and his value has surely gone down since then. I'm a fan of JP and have been since before the Oilers drafted him, I would take a flier on him but he doesnt have much current value.
Barrie doesnt have any value to the last place Ducks with 3 regulation wins. He is 100% a cap dump to us, he may have value to a contender but not to us.
"Flipping" assumes too much risk, if Barrie is that easy to trade Edmonton can do it and add his return into this trade.
And even if the Ducks were to take him to flip him he still wouldnt have any positive value in a trade to ANA, so they would still need to be compensated for taking him</div></div>
If you can flip a player for picks, he clearly has value... anyway, like I said, I don't think it takes much more than I have there to get the deal done. The guy is a pending UFA. Jesse being a non-tender candidate also means very little. I haven't read or seen anyone talk about it being a reason the Oilers havent moved Jesse. He knows hes not worth his tender offer right now and doesn't have a leg to stand on to hold out. Just sign the player before hand. Also, say you put his value at a 2nd or 3rd round pick, add a first instead of a second and a 1st, Jesse (3rd round pick value) and barrie with a 4th is enough to get the deal done in all likelihood.

Way off in value for ANA there</div></div>
Fair points. I think Jesse has more value that you give him credit for. That's where I would start negotiations and if the Ducks asked for a 1st then I'd do it. I also don't think this deal is "far" off in value but I can see where you're coming from. I just think Barrie also still has value other than just being a cap dump. Guy is top 10 in defenceman points and could be flipped to another team for more assets for the ducks too

Fair point. Just in my brain that works out to Parayko and a 5th for JP, Foegele, Barrie, Broberg, Wanner, Savoie, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. That's alot. I do love the idea of Parayko to Edmonton but I think just Barrie and Jesse going the other way with a pick and prosect is probably fine. I also wouldn't add Broberg in that deal. With Broberg the left side is set for the next 5 years. We need the Right shot dman at a different cost. What would you think of:
EDM gets:
Parayko
STL gets:
Barrie

That seams like a lot of things to get rid of and do just so you can get Parayko. There are pending UFA dmen out there that would come at a much lower cost that you can get teams to retain on so you also don't have to trade Foegele.

Honestly just don't see the Oilers dumping Campbell anywhere. He's had a rough start but has been playing better as of late. With Skinner now signed for the next three years at 2.6 million, if you like your tandem, having them locked in for 7.6 million is not an issue. Especially not an issue to give up multiple high-end picks to get out of. Over the next few offseasons there is lots of buyout money coming off and other places where the oilers can shed salary.

Arizona has been pretty open that they want two firsts and a prospect for Chycrun. Not 6 first round picks plus two seconds and more. Like Barrie and Janmark aren't cap dumps, they're decent players. This proposal is absolutely insane. Even Chiarelli would spit out his coffee if this came across his desk.

Haha fair. I'm not entirely sure where the value lies exactly, but the trade does make a little sense. If the Oilers have to add a little then I could see it happening. Zadina is another top pick that hasnt quite lived up to the hype he had as an elite one shot scorer. Jesse much of the same disappointment. Only two years of age separate the two. But your opinion of not liking JP is fair. Most of the Edmonton faithful would like to see Jesse stay because he is a fairly elite defensive forward if you dive into his possession numbers and expected goals, but I also understand the frustration behind his in ability to put points on the board playing with some of the best centerman you can have.
