Description
The idea is to get two established players and then a high skilled player with upside. A player like Hoglander would benefit from playing alongside McDavid, Zadina as well. Frost has broken out but could use real linemates

$6 mil dump gets a 1st round pick in return. What do you think it actually takes to dump $20 mil?

That Monahan example is clearly an outlier lol. And Edmonton can bury him and afford it, or keep him up and afford it. They arent in the same position as Calgary was. A 1st is enough. Maybe a bit more, but not much more.

Edmonton paid a 2nd and a 3rd and moved back 3 places to move $3 mil in Kassian, leaf’s paid a 1st to dump $6.25 mil in Patrick Marleau. It’s very on par with cash being valuable on the league.

That was 1 year of Marleau, not 4 years. By that math it would cost ~3 1st round picks to dump Campbell.

I don't Campbell is a terrible goalie; more likely this year is an aberration and he's just an average goalie in some very high pressure markets.

He’s simply not a starter in the nhl. He’s had 3 seasons over 30 games and he’s 31. And yes, one year of Marleau was a 1st to dump, so dumping almost 3.5x the amount will cost much more

Those examples the teams were in an insane cap crunch. Edmonton can survive holding cambell.

Edmonton definitely declines the first 3 trades as they make the team worse.

The 4th trade makes the team better but I doubt they would pay that high a price (both the trade assets and the contract) for a guy who isn't better than McLeod at 5v5 and doesn't kill penalties (McLeod does).

Doubtful that San Jose is on Campbell's 21 team trade list.

Detroit passes, Not trading Zadina for a 5'9" Kailor Yamamoto. Yzerman likes bigger players.

And if Pius Suter is willing to take a 1x1 offer, He'd remain in Detroit try more like 3x3 or 3x3.5 instead.

I'm not sure the Oilers would decline the Zadina one. Cheaper, bigger winger, with a higher scoring ability. The other trades I would agree with. I also don't know why people are so quick to dump Campbell. Does no one understand how bad it would look to any other free agent that was thinking of signing here. Also, put who is making what money aside, a tandem of Skinner and Campbell making 7 million for the next two years is a positive for this team. No way I would be attaching a first to him just to sign a different 30 yo goalie that will back up Stu

Zadina isn't anywhere near as good at scoring as Yamamoto.

    Zadina v Yamamoto

And while he is bigger (who isn't?) he's also less physical.
