No trades just what I expect the team to look like
There is a 0.00000% chance that the Leafs will either trade or send down Holl so they can play Sandin (or anyone else) on his offside.
If Sandin signs he sits. Sandin knows that. Dubas and Keefe know that.

Dubas is not signing Sandin at this time because no cap space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>If Sandin was asking for anything under 2 mill he would be signed rn. Multiple sports reporters have said they have heard Sandin wants more than Liligren. Amount is not known but let's be honest if it was anything under 2 as mentioned he would be signed rn</div></div>
Again, this is based on nothing. We have good reason to believe that Dubas wanted them for the same amount because he essentially said so in an interview on July 6th. As he is not signed the assumption is that wants more.
But no, multiple sports reporters have not heard what Sandin is asking for. Multiple reporters have assumed that is the case. But leaks are rare with Dubas, and same thing goes for Sandin's agent. If Fox, who gave multiple direct quotes was told about dollar figures why didn't he report them? Because Gross likely didn't say a word more than what Fox reported.
Negotiations for contracts usually iron out a whole bunch of things before they get to things like term and AAV. There is a solid possibility that they haven't discussed those yet. If Sandin has, for instance asked for a trade in months past, or if Sandin wants Dubas to agree to trade him if he not getting more ice time, and if Dubas won't agree to that then there is no sense getting to term or AAV.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>Like if Dubas offered 2.6 x 3 years Sandin would not care if he barely played for a year as he would be getting paid more than he should</div>
You have no idea if that is true, and it would be extremely rare for a young pro athlete to think this way. We know that Sandin was the first to take no performance bonuses on his ELC because he felt it would help him get ice time sooner. It is known that Sandin has repeatedly been extremely pissed off about being sat and his lack of opportunities here - both in January 21 in the playoffs of 22.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>and when an injury occurs he would get his opportunity to keep his spot.</div>
When covering for injuries, especially under Keefe, you cover for injuries. Nothing more. Keefe won't care if Sandin dramatically outplayed the player he was replacing. That is not how he functions. Rielly didn't miss a game last year. Gio basically only missed games when being sat by Seattle before the trade. Muzzin played the first 30 games of the season, before missing one game and later suffering injuries. Those are the Leafs' 3 LDs. You would need to be a complete fool to risk your future on hoping for injuries. Sandin appears to not be such a fool.
Sandin is probably doing the right thing for his career. He should be refusing to sign into a situation that will harm his development. Hopefully he has asked for a trade. If he has and Dubas won't agree he should play in Europe and tell Dubas that he doesn't want to hear from him until it is to tell him where he has been traded too. You can say that Dubas has all the cards, but not really. Dubas needs his team to succeed this year. He knows he is less likely to do so with an asset playing in Europe than he would be an improved lineup from the asset(s) returned trading Sandin.
Is that what Sandin is doing? No idea, just like you have none.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">On 32 Thoughts Friedman says the Leafs aren't going to be able to get Sandin signed at the same number as Liljegren. In general Chris Johnston and Luke Fox have also said Sandin is valuing himself more than the 1.4 mill Dubas has offered. While it might not be 2.6 Sandin is still asking for more than he should and we're probs in for a long negotiation
As if he said I want 1.5 x 2years he's signed rn</div></div>
They don't know what Sandin has asked for. They can speculate that it must be more than what Liljegren signed for, as that would generally make sense as these disputes are usually over money. But that doesn't mean this one is. You have no basis to say that Sandin is asking for 3 x 2.6M. Nor do you have any idea if he would be willing to sign for a much lower amount on a different team than he would be willing to sign for the Leafs. If this is about opportunity (something that Sandin has been about throughout his entire career including when he signed his ELC with no performance bonuses) then he has every reason to refuse to re-sign with the Leafs no matter what they offer him.

Did you even check the 2018-2019 Leafs</div></div>
Dermott played almost all of that season on the left with Oz as his partner. He played some games on the right towards the end of the season when partnered with Gardiner. But, yes, it was a different coach. Babs was also fine playing Sandin on the right during the 2019 camp and pre-season. Keefe is not Babs.

Nope.
Friedman: "I think they wanted to get him for the same number as Liljegren. You know, it's not happening. If you take a look at the contract that Boqvist signed which was 2.6M (x3), I think Sandin is going to see himself a lot closer to that than he is to Liljegren. So we will see where this goes."
Pure speculation from start to finish. Friedman, Fox, you, me - all have no idea at all what Sandin has asked for.

It didn't really work out. Keefe reduced his ice time significantly on the games he played on his off-side and he was traded within months.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T0R</b></div><div>He will get an opportunity very soon after Muzz is traded either now or next season. As for what would need to be added i’d say Iafallo & Leafs add on a 4th, Sandin has big upside as a LD defensemen who plays bigger than his size & moves the puck exceptionally well but i hate to say it, he won’t sign for 1.2 cause if he would he 100% would be signed already in Toronto, Iafallo is a 35-40 point guy who deserves better than the 3rd line</div></div>
Sandin will not get an opportunity after Muzzin is traded (which probably won't happen anyway), just as Sandin did not get an opportunity when Muzzin was injured in February.

The problem with offersheeting him is you probably need to go with 3 - 4M to not have the Leafs match. So, I think that there is likely a deal that can be made. What exactly it is, I don't know, but it likely won't be sky high to get this D who has been blocked and burried by his team and will flourish on a team that will actually give him an opportunity.
