Taylor Hall at Trade Deadline
I don't think this makes sense for Sharks until they make sure he resigns and in that case, I dont think Sharks will have the capspace

Yeah, I remember that before he went to NLA, he had struggles with his D-zone game (which is not suprising for a 21-year old shooter), but on WC this year, I was suprised how he matured. Hope he makes impact.

Roster to start the POs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slepler</b></div><div>definitely you are right about the seattle issue. I hadnt thought about it, but it's obviously a key condition. woops :-)
I thinkg they could use another top 4 Dman actually. Their top 3 have too much age and injury risks to have such a soft bottom 4. I would loveto add a more prime age Dman who can eat up 22-25 mins of good 2-way play. This way injuries dont sink them and they arent relying on very risky options for such a key spot.
That said, the expansion draft makes it impossible to pick up another top 4 Dman for the long term. Right you are...</div></div>
I think giving Vlasic to Seattle and adding some UFA dman afterwards could work but he might have no trade clause for this case. Its definitely gonna be interesting :D

Roster to start the POs
Even if you say it is for fun, it has lot of errors. Sharks mostly need top 6 RW, not another overpayed Dman and middle 6 forward (who is from division rival so it makes the trade impossible), therefore sending away 2 arguably best prospects makes no sense. And Seattle expansion would hurt this team - that brings interesting question, if SJS wants to protect everybody, can they make Burns RW and protect 7F - Couture, Burns, Hertl, Kane, Meier, Labanc, Toffoli, 3D - Vlasic, Karlsson, Trouba, 1G - Jones?

It seems to me that after this season, Sharks will sign only two of Dillon/Heed/Simek (if they dont trade Dillon to make capspace)

I cant describe my disappointment as a Sharks fan... If someone would deserve this money on Sharks team, it is him, but Doug Wilson put his faith in Karlsson (and overpayed him in order to sign him before UFA market).

Lablanc's new deal might end up there, but it seems to me that in order to resign Pavelski, the Sharks may have to give up Vlasic.</div></div>
I see where you are going, problem is Kane, he has too much money for his point production, thats reason why can Meier want big load, but if you compare Meier and Labanc in their NHL careers, you see they have very similar numbers, in fact Meier has same nuber only because of last season, where he was given more ice time and spot on first line (yeah, unlike Labanc, he is first round pick). Im just afraid that if he wants 5-6 million as bridge, Labanc will want the same and one of them (Labanc) will have to leave

This is wet dream, Labanc gets at least 3 million on a bridge deal, Meier might accept that but only for 2 years, Pavelski will want at least thr same money he had (6 million) and Karlsson is not resigning in SJS I think. Many people will tell you that you didn´t gave him enough money, but If there wouldn´t be Doughty´s contract, he would accept that in a moment, but the rumours say his wife wants back to Canada.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Dominik Kubalik (1 Year / $1,775,000 AAV)
Just so everyone knows, he is 23 not 26, I can compare him to Vrana from Wsh - they both have great hands, Vrana is faster, Kubalik better physically and more complex, not a bottom six player, middle 6 definitely, the question is whether he can adapt to american hockey

Pack the D
Paying 37 million to 4 dman is not the best idea, especially when only Karlsson is under 30 (and complication to protect them all in expansion draft).
Forward group is weak af, not to mention if you need to resign 4 elc after 2 years, no way they would fit under cap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vols94</b></div><div>I dont see a scenario where Wilson signs both Pavelski and Karlsson. not that its not possible but I dont think that is his plan,</div></div>
I think it is highly unlikely that Erik Karlsson resigns in SJS ... my first sentence in first paragraph :D I agree with you that resigning Karlsson is unlikely but not because of Pavelski, I believe Wilson will try to sign Panarin/Duchene/Skinner and then trade Labanc for some top 4 d-man to replace Karlsson. But he has not good history with UFA signings, unlike trades, which he wins most of the time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>Yeah, I think the Sharks would be better off not signing Karlsson. That's just too much money wrapped up in 3 players, and you're going to be looking at Burns, Vlasic, and Karlsson on hefty contracts until their late 30s, which isn't really ideal. You also are over the cap with no forwards as extra skaters.</div></div>
Yeah I know, thats why i mentioned moving Dillon as well in last paragraph

Going forward after winning Stanley Cup
Im not sure that Sharks will start slow rebuild if they win the cup, Wilson will want another, but I think it is necessary especially on blue line.
I think both Meier and Labanc will get bridge contracts, because that just how Wilson does it (like in case of Hertl/Tierney/Sorensen/Donskoi) - maybe Meier might get long term, but it depends on UFA signings and trades. Imo Pavelski gets more term and less money to make cap work.
Agree with letting Nyquist go, not worth the money he might ask (especially with that condotional pick for resigning).
Vlasic, Burns and Simek are definitely not going anywhere. If someone is gone, it will be Braun. I would trade Dell and M. Karlsson as well. Moving Dillon depends on money he will ask (3-3,5 is acceptable but makes things complicated to sign UFA). Resigning E. Karlsson might be risk, he has injury history and according to rumours wants at least 11 million, but definitely top player with his skating, hands and vision. Just needs better partner to do the physical work (like Simek lifted Burns).
Im curious which youngster will get a chance, i excpect Gambrell and maybe another signing in Europe (bottom 6 guy). I would like to see Francouz from Colorado as a backup, he is not really proven but that will make him cheaper, I heard that he wants one way contract so that might be something to make him want to come to SJS - low risk, high reward and if it doesnt work, there will be time to get better backup during season.
Nice thoughts, looking forward on that Karlsson topic.

Well they will not have Karlsson quality player to replace him but he did not work for them, look at their goalie numbers, their defence is gone... They played best hockey when Karlsson was injured and Burns played with Simek so no need to add Risto
