Askarov is their future, they may resign Saros but Saros sat behind Rinne for quite a bit before taking over and I think that’s what Nashvilles plan is with askarov. Always helps to have a good mentor.</div></div>

This is 100% NSH's current plan. Saros sat behind Rinne for 3-4 years before truly splitting the net with him for another 1-2. All in all a 5-6 year transition from Rinne to Saros. NSH is going to try to lock up Saros for that 5-6 years and then either trade him like how Markstrom is being dealt now or have Saros transition to back-up role when he is 34-35. Askarov takes over as starter around 25-26.

Detroit would have to offer probably 15OA+Danielson or ASP+a mid rd pick for them to consider.

If they are losing on goalie depth they will want to fix a different area of need which is a top 6 C or top 4 RHD prospect</div></div>

NSH would require an overpay to get Askarov. If either goalie gets moved it is going to be Saros more likely because they can't agree on contract stuff. But with Cossa in system for DET, I really don't think they need Askarov. Will Askarov likely be a better goalie? Yes. Will Cossa be a bad goalie worthy of replacing? No, and far from it.
