<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsfanMathews</b></div><div>Just curious would you rather have Hall and his 4mil cap hit (retention) playing on the 2nd line or Andersen and his cap hit sitting on the bench, only getting in if Campbell can’t play?
I think the LAK deal is fine, Iafallo is awesome. How would you change it?</div></div>
And at the same time, having Hutch and Forsberg as your back-up duo is scary.

I wouldn't acquire Hall in the first place tbh. Hertl to me is more valuable and is a bigger body. I don't see why a team would acquire Freddie because of his health struggles, and it would be a wasted assets for us to package first round picks to dumb is contract you know, id way rather see him on LTIR. Abruzzese is considered an A prospect now (lower-end A), so I wouldn't deal him to get Iaffalo for two months of services. Hirvonen and a second would be what I would offer.

Best Deadline Approach
Deals are fair. Maybe take out the third going from Buffalo to Toronto and ask for 50% retention so the Leafs can sign another LD for depth purposes, and at that point they won't be screwed under the cap if Thornton and Spezza get hurt all the sudden we have we need to play with 11 forwards lol.

That's the adequate price for a guy you can resign in three months. What is Mike Rielly gonna do between today and May11 for Ottawa? Play your young defence man and continue to develop Artem Zub because he is a hidden gem.

Too much going to NJD and CHI. Zadorov is a rental for two months, so the Leafs wouldn't wanna dish a second for a guy to play 12 minutes a nights. NJD is fleecing the Leafs with this deal.

Abramov is the Leafs #7 prospect who is considered a B level prospect. He lit up the Q last season, and was impressive for Russia WJC.

Too much going to BUF and LAK. These deals don't make sense in a way because you are dealing our goalie and acquiring a goalie at or under Hutchinson's calibre.

You probably need to add a C prospect or a third to the CBJ deal. CBJ would consider because it would allow them to limbo out of the expansion dilemma with Merzlikans and Korpisalo.

You need more to get Foligno for sure. B prospect like Hirvonen and Kerfoot for Foligno, and relatively the same to get Jenner. Probably need a bit more to get Mike Rielly.

That's a lot to get Foligno. Brabanov + a 2nd or equivalent should be the price point for Foligno's 2 months of service

Leafs probably accept. Good move for Buffalo too. You could probably get more for Montour tho.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Dermott has been good this year. His advance numbers are as good and better than Oleksiak. And that is with him having Bogosian as a partner. Who does Oleksiak play with? One of the best defenceman in the game. So how do you think he'll do with a worse partner? Better than Dermott? Highly unlikely. As you can see, I am using a lot of reasoning.</div></div>
I am not necessarily looking at this season. Dallas has been in disarray and they are probably the biggest disappointment so far this season. Oleksiak was a beast in the bubble last year, and it caught my eye and many others. Dermott and Bogo have paired really well together, but it also helps that the Leafs don't give up many goals anymore, and don't concede much zone time like in past years when Dermott was a sub-par defender.

I like Oleksiak, but that's a lot to give up for him. A 2nd and maybe Barabanov because they need forwards, or a mid-lower tier prospect. We get Oleksiak for two months, so the Leafs wouldn't toss Liljegren in that deal.

If you've ever played hockey you understand its harder to play against bigger defensemen than a smaller one. You are just commenting to argue but you have 0 reasoning behind you're motive. Oleksiak is better than Dermott, and he is big and plays physical which helps because the Leafs are a softer team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Another laughton trade, with no reason for PHI to accept.
I'll say it again, if the Leafs are looking to upgrade, you have to at least offer quality. If you truly believe you'll have a good playoffs, (and all signs point to yes), then your draft picks will be low.
Offers of mid level prospects, or AHL/NHL tweeners like andersen, barabanov, engvall, brooks, rosen, etc... and low picks in rounds 3 or 4, 2 SEASONS AWAY, is not quality. Its like the ghost of Jeremey Bracco over and over
Im not saying you have to overpay but the offers are so unequal....</div></div>
Fair point. Kokkanen is a third equivalent. If Laughton was on contract for more than this season then things would be different. Keep in mind that Philly could always sign him as a UFA in the summer, and come out with two decent assets. But your point is fair, Leafs would probably need to dish a second to get him.

You just said SJ wouldn't do that because they need more..... where did I overpay. Sure SJ can decline, they have a weak prospect pool and are going no where with a plethora of bad contracts. Lose Hertl in summer 22' for nothing and keep coming last, orrrrrr trade him for assets who will contribute to the team a few years down the road. Not like SJ will be competitive this year or the next.

Pointless for both sides. Mcleod wouldn't neccasarliy even make the team, and we would become thin at defence because of that deal.

Realize that you could also flip Kerfoot in the offseason or next deadline if need be. I personally think he would be a good fit on CHI. Speedy, plays big and physical for his small size. Good penalty killer too, and a smart player. If we was paid 2mil or less he would be worth so much more. He is just in that "over paid" bracket during a time when salary cap is tight.

CHI is good deal. Gibson would be nice. Mangiapane for that price is pointless, kind of a moot point for both sides because Calgary wouldn't want to deal Valimaki and Mangiapane unless the deals are adequate, but the Leafs wouldn't deal Amirov for those two.
