Description
This is Campbell’s team now, no debate about it. So why have a 5mil backup. More than likely Andersen doesn’t get traded, word is some players would be upset if he is dealt. Obviously this is wishful thinking but if they can trade Hall for Andersen, I really like the look of this team. More than likely there are better offers for Hall than this one. Andersen is there simply for money in money out, basically Karl and a 1st.
Simmonds doesn’t look the same coming back from injury yet. Would be comfortable with him and Jumbo swapping in and out.

Even if they can’t get Hall and keep Andersen, Iafallo and Reilly are my top additions.

Forsberg is rocking a .920 and although I don’t love Hutch, he has played much better this year. But again no need for him if no Andersen deal.

But at the end of the day, if the Leafs don’t make any additions I still like the internal options (Robertson, Galy, Sandin, Liljegren) as there deadline additions. But the powerplay has to get going.

Ottawa declines. We have no use for those two prospects. Rather resign Reilly for another year or two.

Andersen NTC would be a problem. Plus it’s not a good idea for Toronto to trade him unless they find another reliable goalie.

I honestly don’t see him being traded either, just seems like a waste of cap space with Campbell taking over

Who would have thought that at the start of the year. That’s fair

Too much going to BUF and LAK. These deals don't make sense in a way because you are dealing our goalie and acquiring a goalie at or under Hutchinson's calibre.

Abramov is the Leafs #7 prospect who is considered a B level prospect. He lit up the Q last season, and was impressive for Russia WJC.

Just curious would you rather have Hall and his 4mil cap hit (retention) playing on the 2nd line or Andersen and his cap hit sitting on the bench, only getting in if Campbell can’t play?

I think the LAK deal is fine, Iafallo is awesome. How would you change it?

I wouldn't acquire Hall in the first place tbh. Hertl to me is more valuable and is a bigger body. I don't see why a team would acquire Freddie because of his health struggles, and it would be a wasted assets for us to package first round picks to dumb is contract you know, id way rather see him on LTIR. Abruzzese is considered an A prospect now (lower-end A), so I wouldn't deal him to get Iaffalo for two months of services. Hirvonen and a second would be what I would offer.

And at the same time, having Hutch and Forsberg as your back-up duo is scary.

IMO Hirvonen has the higher upside. Abruzzese looks good but again lost an entire year to injury and the fact Harvard cancelled there season. Losing a year of hockey hurts. Would love Hertle but SJS are back in the race, don’t see them moving him, also a big part of there team. Unless Freddy goes on LTIR, I don’t like him as a backup, just a waste of cap space to me.
