new ideas for MN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SpiderSpiderSpider28</b></div><div>Philly wouldn't do that, Lambos hasn't progressed great, I can't imagine anyone in Philly's FO could be high on Khusnutdinov after watching him religously all year, and 20th OA just doesn't make the trade worth it for a guy who has been extremely promising this season.
Funny enough: I could see Philly be willing to make a similar swap with Laughton and the Florida pick with Minnesota, but they'd almost certainly have to add another piece into the mix</div></div>
Ya I wouldn't do it as Philly and didn't really expect a positive reception to that one, but wanted to see if from MNs side.
Lambos and Khus could be re-worked, but if Forester is basically off the table, then there's probably not an overlap to be found.

The Roy trade would most likely be cool with the Habs but this is a deep draft in the lottery and if a team were to move out of it, its probably a poor decision.</div></div>
I don't think Philly moves him either, but just a fun mock trade.
Not sure I follow anything with your second point. What do the Habs have to do with anything?

Fan Opinions on Possible Players
Hard to say what it would take for Rossi. I do think Guerin is taking calls on him this summer, but with another year of 14.7M in dead cap and Rossi having 1 more on his ELC, there's no urgency or incentive.
My best guess is that he'd be looking for a young d-man or a termed scoring winger, but who knows.

That's what the team has indicated, yes.
He had both hip and back surgery within the last month or two, but is expected to be ready for camp and plans to play, so I guess we'll see.

You're way too light on Walker, and NJ declines. In terms of value, Mercer would kick back a 1st no problem. Not sure you can say the same about Gus.

Hello
I would accept that if I was Guerin, but tbh Spurgeon is coming off hip and back surgery. I'd be skeptical if anyone is willing to trade for him until he strings together at least a month of good hockey.

Ya I just meant as the base of a trade - there would need to be some balancing for sure and the kickers are tough to predict, so you can tweak the dials up or down to preference.

I don't personally think the Wild should do it, but I have wondered about a package involving PIT 2024 1st and Rossi.
IMO, there are some not terribly farfetched reasons on why it could materialize:
1) Rumblings that Rossi may be shopped
2) Guerin history dealing with PIT
3) Dubas' proclivity towards analytics profile players
4) The fit itself - a young, ready-now C vs. draft pick
5) MNs need to eventually backfill Spurgeon / strong draft cycle on defenseman
I don't think MN would do Rossi for 9th straight up, but I wouldn't be shocked if rumors were to heat up closer to the draft.

Last Year of Cap Hell - Aggressive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Would the Wild consider a deal around a Severson for Spurgeon? Maybe add Rossi and we add KJ with picks being swapped to even it out?</div></div>
In terms of realism, no. That's a complicated deal for both sides for a number of different reasons, so I can't really see how anything like that would actually materialize.
On paper and for this website, it'd be a fun idea to explore and see if you can get the balance right.

Last Year of Cap Hell - Aggressive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Side question: at what point do you think it’s fair to consider firing the GM instead?
He’s the one responsible for the terrible cap issues and he’s already fired and hired coaches and nothing has changed. I feel like a fresh view on things might be the way to go</div></div>
Guerin still has some leash with the owner. He signed a multi-year extension this past summer and will almost certainly get a couple of seasons without the dead cap to prove his "plan."
If I'm trying to forecast out any events that could really ramp up the pressure, I think two standout to me:
1) If he does trade Rossi. Big decision that would no doubt raise eyebrows in the fanbase, so the return would be critical in the court of public opinion.
2) Kaprizov. NMC for these last 2 years of his deal. If he doesn't get an extension and there's a looming threat of him walking as a UFA, things will be tense.

Right I mean Boldy only has more goals and points than Necas this year with less games played, but there's definitely no argument whatsoever.
And nevermind that Boldy significantly outproduced Necas over the same age span, because Necas was the only person on the planet impacted by COVID. So that really wouldn't be a fair argument.
Good call man, my bad.

Don't want to move Boldy, that's fine, but let's be clear. Necas is a CLEAR upgrade</div></div>
Correct, MN will happily keep the better and more-productive player who actually has a deal on the books vs. your hypothetical 8-year that doesn't exist.

Losing the dead weight
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>Good thought. I suppose it depends on whether he looks like he belongs in those first 9 before the ELC starts ticking. We all know how that usually goes, but the fact that they signed him after only one year of junior after getting drafted tells me they might have that type of plan. And everyone would rather see him and/or the other kids than a re-tread like Mojo on the second line. I'm not too worried either way, next year is another year of waiting time before the cap room finally comes back.</div></div>
Yeah and realistically, optimizing the ELC isn't the end all be all. If burning a year means a better development path, I'd strongly consider it. You can always send him back to the WHL later in the year, if it isn't working as well as you'd like. Though I do imagine we'll have a pretty good idea one way or another after camp, preseason, 9 games, etc.
And you're right about next year being another lame duck, let's all wait for the dead cap to expire season.

Boldy has 160 points in 193 career games (.82 ppg), which covers his 20-22 yo seasons. Necas had 119 in 202 games over that same span (.58 ppg). And Boldy is signed long term.
Boldy has more value. Which, it's fine if that's your ask, but obviously MN isn't doing that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>Agreed, just send them through waivers. Or Mojo could be traded fairly easily, I'd think.
And I don't think Flower would need to be paid 3.5 again. 2M or so, is my thinking. Otherwise this looks alright. I really do wonder whether Heidt makes a push for the team, especially if Mojo/Freddy are jettisoned.</div></div>
Yeah the issue with Mojo is that they won't actually waive him. I think if he was given the ultimatum of "AHL or trade", he would waive the NTC, but Guerin isn't gonna do that. Even if it works on paper and in theory.
Heidt probably won't be ready IMHO, but it will be fun to see if he can get his 9 games and what he does with them.
Tbh, one thought I had with Heidt (if he does impress but maybe not quite full-time) is if they'd ever consider something like what Anaheim is doing with Carlsson - a deliberately reduced schedule. You obviously want him playing, but I do wonder if 40-45 NHL games is better than 68 WHL games for a guy like him.

No need to buy Mojo or Gaudreau out. Just waive em to Iowa.
Gaudreau especially, it's no difference in the cap hit beyond the first year, but it's twice as long with a buyout.

Yeah there's been some rumblings. The main beat reporter for the Wild, Michael Russo, has on several occasions speculated that he thinks the Wild would consider shopping him this summer.
Who knows how much stock to put in that, but that's where the rumors are stemming from.

Ghule is already our best defensive dman and will be on our top pairing for a very long time. I appreciate that you're actually putting together a serious offer, but MN still says no. There's no reason to do it - he's a great player, young and has term.
My best guess would be that it take both Guhle and the MTL 2024 1st, and probably more still.
I don't see a package that works for both.
