There has def been rumblings of a TK trade. Chuck would probably trade him for a analytical black-hole 4th liner lol.
I'm of the opinion that this team needs a rebuild, but since they have committed to "retool", God only knows what short-sighted moves Chuck is going to make.

It's definitely dropped in the past two years. I am still very high on him, so my biased belief is a 1st rounder and a top prospect minimum. But his contract term may lower that value.

Not too familiar with Harkins tbh. But with TK's long contract term, that may be a reasonable offer. Problem is, that NYR 1st rounder is gonna be late 20's.

What is going on with Monahan that he is now only worth a 3rd rounder? Sorry, I don't watch a ton of CAL games.

Lol I was just going to say; maybe if he was drafted by someone else he would be an NHL-caliber player.
It is a risk assuming that these college players will actually sign with us, isn't it? If I were one of these kids (Brink, Attard, St. Ivany, O'Brien, etc.), I would be eyeing up free agency...

Is St. Ivany really an NHL-caliber player? I figured Attard would be much more likely to hold his own.

lol wut. Acquiring Blake Coleman cost a first and a good-to-great prospect. A top-5 all time franchise player with half his salary retained is getting a hell of a lot more than that.

Did you see Chuck's last trade? Knowing him, he would offer TK, Farabee, two first rounders and a lifetime supply of Philly Cheesesteaks for Tara with no salary retained.

I was thinking something similar. I love Crouse and his grit/size, but I think PHI needs to give up a bit more than this. Rubtsov is finished imo, and I think we would have to retain some of Ghost's salary for them to even consider something like this.

If one of Jake/JVR isn't taken in expansion, I suspect Chuck is going to try to sell one of those guys.
Also that third line has me drooling. So much youth and talent.

Post Ryan Ellis Tarasenko to Philly
I did this scenario as well, but idk about Ghost for futures. I think ARI is going to take teams to task for eating cap. I suspect they would want picks and salary retention to take Ghost. I think you could still make this work though.
This is a ridiculously good team if everyone stays healthy and youngsters bounce back.

Part 1 - SEA picks JVR Jake stays
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>They only need to hit 49 mil out of the expansion draft. I’m either using that extra 30 mil in FA or somebody is paying quite a bit to take their cap. It has nothing to do with the player and everything to do with cap flexibility.
Again, I think JVR and Jake can still play. But Seattle has leverage and they are going to use it.</div></div>
If SEA only spends to the floor on expansion draft, no big-name FA is going to sign with them. They will be terrible. Plus there are quite a few other teams that can compete with SEA in signing big name guys.

Part 1 - SEA picks JVR Jake stays
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>Who would pick up Jake or JVR on waivers? How many teams have 7 mil in cap space for 2-3 years. I get your point and agree they are top 6 material but Seattle has cap space and they aren’t going to give it away for free.</div></div>
Well Seattle has exactly $81.5M to work with, so they certainly have room for players in the $7-8M range. Do you think they're just going to use every single pick for scrubs making $1-2M a year? They have to get to the cap floor, and there aren't many better options within the Flyers exposed list OR the rest of the league's exposed list.
Comparing expansion draft to waivers is apples to oranges. You aren't forced to pick a player on waivers, whereas Seattle obviously has to make 30 different choices.
Not saying it's out of the realm of possibility for SEA to take someone cheap from PHI, but I am saying PHI should take the chance and make SEA make a tough decision. In the end, I don't see how Francis could justify a 7D over a top-6 forward.

If they were terrible players, then yes, it would be a cap dump. They are both top-6 forwards. Regardless of cost, they are a much better pick than Ghost (still has 4.5M cap hit and made it thru waivers last season) and two NHL/AHL fringers in Braun/Hagg. I get that we're in the flat cap era, but not selecting either Jake or JVR would be foolish.

IMO, no, it's not worth it. But pressure in Philly to make moves, combined with Chuckie's tendency to overpay, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the package.
At the end of the day, I don't think Eichel ends up in Philly.

I don't get to watch a lot of NSH games, but I'm of the belief that Sanheim is a solid top-4 guy. Does it make sense to trade a 25-year old top-4 guy for a 31-year old top-4 guy? Or do you believe that Ekholm is significantly better than Travis?

I def don't think Flyers have to sweeten pot for SEA. They can expose JVR, Jake, Ghost, Hagg and NAK. I think we would be fine with any one of them leaving. Don't need to add anything in order to protect any of those players.
