Good point. Lambos is supposed to be top dog I thought, but yeah see where it shakes out. I just think over the long haul one of them will be traded

Time to Actually Rebuild - TDL Part 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>Serious question, hypothetical.
If Horvat signed a reasonable extension, say 7 million, 7 years, would Shane Wright and a 1st get it done for Horvat and a 2023 1st? Not gonna say 2024, that's just nonsense. What if the Vancouver 1st were lottery protected? Top 3 protected? Top 5 protected? If the protected picks happen, Seattle gets a 2023 2nd and an unprotected 2024 1st.
Just curious. Seattle gets to trade Shane Wright and a mid round prospect for a known commodity in his prime (high 2C) and a likely top 10 prospect this year or next (or higher depending on lottery protection).</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyIsMyPassion61</b></div><div>:laugh Horvat trade is a joke, You won't even get Wright for Horvat let alone Seattle adding their 1st on top of it. And Horvat wants to play near home. No way is he signing with Seattle.</div></div>
That’s along the lines of what I was thinking for Horvat it really comes down to Horvat for Wright and a 1st. Wennberg is there to create some cap space for next year. But it would definitely require an extension in place. Horvat is a known commodity. Vancouver will be looking for a 1st and top prospect. Maybe Wright was a bit rich but if I’m Vancouver I’m asking for the world before needing to except reality.

The thing with Hunt was I think that he is going to get stuck behind a line of players and trading him for an asset like Schenn.

Say the Wild are somehow able to get Barzal. How do we resign him in? We are still in the middle of cap hell. With it going up by 2 million next year. Don’t get me wrong I would love Barzal with Kirill but he is going to want a raise and I just don’t know how we can afford him.

This team is gonna be so good
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SimonSelaars3</b></div><div>We have Haight who according to top analysts is a prime player to breakout in the OHL this season, he’s a right handed center who had a top 10 skill set in this draft but just didn’t put together the point production to match it so he fell to the 2nd round.
Adding Yurov and Khusnutdinov to the team within the next 2-3 could be huge in the potential re-signing of Kaprizov when his contract is up.
BG and Brackett have been doing business the right way by keeping their draft picks and stockpiling talented prospects, they’re the future of the franchise after all.
As for the Kaprizov situation, who knows if he makes it over or not, only time will tell but if he doesn’t I would assume he would stay under contract but this year of the contract would either go void or rollover into whenever he can get back over here to play, I highly doubt he will be “trapped” in Russia for long (if at all). I also think that Dumba will be traded at the deadline regardless of whether or not we are a playoff team. Everybody knows playoff teams overpay at the deadline and if you can pick up a late 2023 1st for Dumba then that’s a huge win considering how deep the 2023 draft is plus we have Addison and Faber who both will be on the team to start the 23-24 season.</div></div>
Haight looked solid in the development game, and give him sometime I do hope he has a great year in the OHL. He is name is also a sports writers dream oh the puns that it could generate are endless. This year will be interesting that’s for sure.

Are we allergic to Right Handed forwards? That is the only thing I would say about our forward core. This gives me some home and the fact are cap hell should be on the way out and we could sign an UFA. I still think we might be a little weak down the middle especially toward the bottom 6. So a larger Right Handed Center would be nice. I know they mentioned during the the draft the Yurov could possibly move to center has the skill set.
I think the addition of more Russians and hopefully competing toward a cup and a large check could keep Kirill. Got to keep the hope.
Side note I think BG has done well with keeping the team relatively competitive especially with the massive cap penalties. But I think this year will be the first true test.
One question if Kirill for some reason can’t get over does anyone know what happens? In terms of cap? Because if he can’t get over I wouldn’t mind a tank and try to get a lottery pick. And trading Dumba at the deadline.

Fiala and Dumba Gone Angry Overreaction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SimonSelaars3</b></div><div>Special teams is up to the coaches to resolve in my mind, you can’t realistically tell me we don’t have the personnel to have a successful PK. Basically our entire offense outside of KK97 and JEEK completely missed the memo that we were in the playoffs. We need to prioritize Defensive Defenseman over Offensive Defenseman. It would also be cool to hear the reasoning behind Goligoski and Greenway being extended because they’re legitimately some of the worst players I’ve ever witnessed.</div></div>
If Greenway was not 6’7” he would be a 3rd line AHL player. His puck control is not there. And shot and passing isn’t pretty. Goligoski at 1 mil per is something but 2 is still too rich for my blood. I think his versatility and experience is what Guerin liked.

Yea that article came out after his slow start and was pulled from both PP units. And ever since Boldy entered the picture it’s like a completely new player. To the end year he was on fire. And if it wasn’t for Kirill’s 100+ point year, Fiala would have the most points in franchise history in a year. Also it seems from an interview you see like they have good relationships. Take that with a grain of salt though.

But I can't fault your reasoning at all.</div></div>
What about trading Dumba to Columbus. They have cap space and are in need of a RD. I imagine Dumba for Corson and a second. Or something like that could possibly work. You keep Addison and look possibly to LA for RD or sign a UFA to a short term deal.

Cap Hell year 1 - take four
Zane McIntyre finally getting a bit of love. 19-14-1 record in the AHL not great but serviceable. He has a GAA 2.45 and a Save Percentage of .920 which are solid. The defense around him has a lot to do with that and much of our top guys are still playing in Canada. So yea I mean if we can’t get Fleury back on a very team friendly deal.
- The Cap Hell would require that. Come on Billy use some of that we played together magic.
I think Zane could be a serviceable back up (for Talbot or Fleury), whoever we decide to keep. A very good d corps in front of him will definitely help. As we wait for Wallstedt to develop in the minors. I believe Russo mentioned that would like Wallstedt to come to Iowa next year for development.
- Zane would also help with out cap problems. We at the very least need to resign him to play at the AHL level, on a two way deal. (800 - 950k). That ballpark.

Dumba Moving and Staying Competitive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackSC87</b></div><div>I like the Dumba trade and agree that they will do just about anything they can to keep Fiala. Although I do think Fiala may get a bit more money than that and same with Fleury. They can definitely make it work though I think they're just gonna have to decide between Middleton and Fleury realistically if they want to keep Fiala.</div></div>
I was thinking with the max term for Fiala he may go a bit more team friendly, about 7. Anything short AAV would be higher. I think they find away to resign Middleton. He was been fantastic with Spurgeon brings extra coarse sandpaper to every game. But isn’t as much of a threat on offense. So that might hurt his AAV a touch. And with Fleury I’m hoping Guerin can pull some we played together card. Because Fleury isn’t coming back because he has bills to pay at this point it has to be a love for the game and yea I’ll take a big check as well. So he might be willing to go team friendly.
Got some good feedback on the Dumba trade, makes sense. And yes a PPG guy coming into his own Guerin needs to do whatever he needs too these guys don’t just come around and their is no guarantee any prospect or pick you get will end up as good or better. So play the odds and pay him.

I agree Deslauries should be re-signed he keeps Foligno in the game, unless Duhaime hits the gym and trains to become a better enforcer.
No taxi squad next year so I'm not sure if that's your AHL rotation of guys that get call ups. My point though is that Bjugstad at that price will get claimed off waivers.</div></div>
I used the taxi squad to show some of the guys I think could get called up next. Kinda like right now we are seeing with the 4th line.

It would depend on how much it would take to resign Bemstrom. Because the reason the Wild would be trading Dumba is to shed cap. Foudy seems like a better prospect then Bemstrom, but I haven’t watched too many Blue Jackets games to really see how good Bemstrom is. They may want an additional 3rd (sweetener) with the 2nd and Bemstrom, but I would do that.
To resign Dumba probably 5x5 or so. He is 28 so I would give him an extremely long extension and by the time this contract is up at 5 years young guys would be needing paydays.

I would trade Kulikov instead of Middleton. Their contracts should be close in value. You could probably get a mid round draft pick for Kulikov. Addison could offer some slight cap relief on D.
I don’t know why they resigned Goligoski, their is already a log jam at D especially on the left.

Not sure when he would be able to sign the extension. Not sure if it has to be in season. Or if he could sign one in the offseason. But there would definitely need that in place for this to transpire. I wouldn’t give up a top prospect and high draft pick for one year of a guy. I would guess a 5-6 year deal. If you want the longest I would go.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GophersBenJ</b></div><div>Fiala is asking for 8 to 9 mil, something Guerin isn't willing to do.</div></div>
Fiala is definitely going to start on the high end. I think he knows anything above 8 even on the open market really isn’t going to happen. Wild will offer something like 6.5 and then it will go back and forth and end up in the ballpark of 7 AAV. I think he may go slightly less if its for max term. 6.75 x 8. Remember Kirill initially started at 10 AAV for 3 years.
If I’m the Wild I’m moving Dumba over Fiala. And if this deal is on the table I’m taking it. JBD can almost play right now, him and Addison can fill the Dumba’s role. Justin Braun as a possible vet move as well. We could also move an LD prospect.

Buffalo is a place that could use a veteran RD, to help anchor their young LD. But he does have the NTC which could make this more difficult. Dumba for a second Buffalo would do it one phone call no problem, but he would definitely demand more a 1st for sure and a prospect. But I do think Guerin wants to and will resign him even though his offensive numbers have dropped a bit him and Brodin make a very good line. I just hope the next contract is for less then 6 mil. He hasn’t been playing up to that number in my mind and with the cap crunch ahead.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Buffalo inquiring about Fiala and his availability. Prospects and Picks for the Wild and cap space could be a good match.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBoyDuddus</b></div><div>I wouldn’t want to move Greig for Fiala 1 for 1 right now. Second best ppg in the W on a mid team with no help, agitator yet scored the nicest goal of any senator this year in the preseason. Getting him for 3 years on his ELC and allocating that cap space to a potential UFA like Giroux makes much more sense than flipping him (plus a high 1st) for Fiala on whatever massive contract he signs in the off-season.
I like the Reinhardt comparison for the trade but Levi was traded almost a full calendar year before he won the Richter award and the 1st that Florida sent was significantly lower than whatever Ottawa’s is projected to be next season. But specific to Levi, he was a good prospect at the time of the trade but by no means “high caliber” so expecting a high caliber prospect from Ottawa doesn’t really make a ton of sense.</div></div>
What would you think of a Roby Jarventie & ‘23 first. I know the wild would go hard for ‘22 but ‘23 more likely. The ‘23 should most likely be more middle of the pack thinking 10-15 and Jarventie is a good young prospect not at the very top of the prospect pool but still has some good upside. I think looking back this might make more sense. But another factor would be if a bidding war happens only time will tell. But if we got the Jarventie, ‘23 first unprotected. I would be happy. Sucks to see him go but some solid compensation.
