If you get credit for UFA Naz you should also include losing Johnny to UFA. Either way, I agree Treliving did a really good job with the cards he had.

For me…zero. He’s been a .5 ppg player playing 3rd line minutes. When he’s healthy he’s been actually pretty decent. Even when he’s not scoring, he’s doing everything else well.

I think this is a great deal for Anaheim. I don’t see why Pittsburgh does it. I think they’d rather just keep Zucker and get out of the contract sooner than take on Bailey. I don’t think Bailey is really a cap dump. I could see Bailey getting a 6th or 7th from a team with cap space as a low risk/high reward player. Same with Zucker. If the pens wanted to get rid of Zucker, they could probably get a 6th or 7th from a team like Anaheim or Arizona who could flip him at the deadline 50% retained for a much better pick.
I bet if anyone on here would have traded a 3rd and 4th for Bjorkstrand on here a few weeks ago that they’d have gotten ripped and called a troll.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LargeFarva</b></div><div>Kassian with 2 years on his deal cost a 2nd, 3rd and 4 spots in the 1st. Even with his injury history I think Zucker is more valuable than Kassian, particularly with only 1 year left on his deal. Maybe it's 2 3rds, or a 2nd and 3rd, but that's kind of the point of the deal - Anaheim takes Bailey and immediately swaps him for another asset and Zucker, who can be traded for yet another asset the TDL this season.</div></div>
Kassian is owed $600 k more over 2 years as Zucker is in 1 year. There are 10 teams currently over the cap. A few of those teams have it sorted via LTIR, which leaves 6-7 of them trying to figure it out. On the other end, there are 9 teams with over $9 mil in space. 4 or 5 of those have RFA's that likely own't be cheap to sign, which leaves 3-4 teams total to absorb any cap dumps.
IMO, if a team taking on a cap dump at this point of the offseason isn't getting an absolute premium, then there's really no reason to do it. Arizona is the only team below the floor right now, but should be fine once Hayton/Crouse are signed. Buffalo made their cap move with Bishop. Anaheim jumped above with Klingberg, who you'd have to imagine, they intend to flip before the deadline. All of those teams are non-contenders, and have no reason to do it without getting solid assets. 100% my opinion though, and I could be completely wrong.

That’s what y’all sound like rn. Lower ur expectations.</div></div>
Josh Bailey is making 5M a year for 2 more years, the Isles <strong><em>Need</em></strong> to dump salary, they have 0 leverage in any deal for him
He is declining and expensive, Ive been watching Josh since he played in Windsor, if anyone appreciates what he does its me, but he is undoubtedly a cap dump right now, and it will take a premium to dump his contract

Honestly I don’t even disagree with you. In this market he should be a cap dump. I just think ur asking price is insanely high. A first? Really?

Teams that need to move cap out have 0 leverage in moving players out if there arent suitors for those players
There are realistically 5 teams that can take on cap dumps over 3M: ANA, ARI, BUF, CHI, DET
Thats it, and its only going to keep getting smaller of a list, and those teams are going to ask for more and more each day to take on that cap</div></div>
Or the isles send Josh Bailey to LTIR with a sprained dick and bring him back in the playoffs. I wouldn’t put it past lou or any other Gm to game the system. Hell I’m not even sure players will be against it if they r older. Will keep them well rested lmao.
I can picture it now
Josh Bailey LTIR: sprained dick
Kyle Palmieri LTIR: Damaged ego.
Matt Martin LTIR: Broken Middle Finger.

There is no scenario where the cost to dump salary goes down, it only goes up and it goes up drastically.
The "Talent" in question here has 0 positive value to the teams with cap space to fit them, it will cost a premium to move any cap hit like these out.</div></div>
I remember the Matt Murray cap dump demands lol. Yeah Bjorkstrand was dealt for a third. Yes Pacioretty was traded with Dylan Coghlan for literally nothing. So how the **** is Connor Brown worth a second? I assume that I have no idea who has trade value and who doesn’t in todays day and age. What Vegas and Columbus do is not necessarily the only path forward for nhl teams.

You are both right. My philosophy is you move bailey if you are clearing space for an elite guy around Barzal’s age. Not Nazim Kadri.
I’m gonna be honest tho. Wouldn’t shock me to learn Lou is gonna trade Varly and Beauvillier before Bailey. Bailey just might be too difficult to move in this market. I genuinely don’t know.

I’m normally in agreement with you, but I have to differ here. POJ looks better than every NHL ready LD we have not named Fowler. He doesn’t perfectly fit long-term with Mintyukov and Zellweger coming up, but to get him and a third for taking on one year of Zucker is totally worth it. Plus if Zucker can stay healthy and rebound it’s not unreasonable to get a little back for him retained at the TDL as well
