"Best" was likely an exaggeration for sure. DeBrusk has outperformed Texier, but Tex is also 3 years younger and has improved every year since he joined the league, while DeBrusk has stagnated/declined (from what I've heard). I guess my point is that DeBrusk is a known quantity at this point, a solid middle-6 winger. Texier on the other hand still has a ton of room to grow and he's capable of playing center, though he's probably going to be a winger for the most part. It's a choice between potential and a sure thing.
I would 100% give up Tex for Seattle's 1st this season though, this trade is just hugely imbalanced in Boston's favor and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You Bruins fans would absolutely love Texier though if you somehow got him!

I don't think Seattle is going to give up its first this year, it's likely a top-5 pick. Especially not for Voracek and Debrusk. Texier is the best young player in this deal considering his breakout this season and Boston is giving up very little for him, they're essentially having Seattle pay for him to go to Boston.

Big Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeypal</b></div><div>Honestly I just think Columbus is giving up way to much in this deal</div></div>
I (respectfully) disagree. The main pieces CBJ is giving up are Bean and the Chicago 1st. As things stand now, Foudy's ceiling appears to be a middle-6 forward and a regular part of the PK. The Chicago 1st will very likely fall in the 8-15OA range and it's also lottery-protected, Chychrun is exactly the kind of player you would want to draft in that range. Chychrun would be an upgrade over Bean too, though Bean still has plenty of upside. Korpisalo will be a UFA at the end of the season and he's definitely not going to be a starter in Columbus with Elvis signed long-term and Tarasov being our goalie of the future. Domi will likely be flipped at the deadline for a late 1st rounder if he isn't used in a trade like this and Harrington is a throw-in depth defenseman for EDM. This trade would definitely be a net gain for CBJ.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>I like this, but I think EDM needs a defensive D man coming back instead of Harrington. It can work, but their need is goaltending (which you've addressed) and help in their own end (which Kessel and Harrington don't). They'd take Kessel, but if you included a guy like Stralman with ARI covering 50% and CLB covering 25% with another lower pick heading to CLB I think everyone jumps</div></div>
That makes a lot of sense and I think it would be quite easy to make that happen in this trade.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlackPizza95</b></div><div>I love that you ended up giving the reasons and I can see this happening, But i dont think Chychrun would be considered. Thats the only thing i can possibly see being false about this. Great Job.</div></div>
Thank you! This forum would be a lot more interesting if people gave justifications for the trades they create here, I try my best to do that. Chyhrun is definitely the kind of player a rebuilding team like Arizona should keep, so it's a bit weird that he keeps showing up in trade rumors. Arizona might just be trying to see if they can fleece a team in a Chychrun trade, like that rumored offer from Florida of Lundell, Knight, and a 1st. My trade only makes sense if Arizona genuinely wants to trade him and they're willing to do it for anything less than a highway robbery.

CBJ AZ
A trade for Chychrun would definitely include Bean. I do agree that Bemstrom and Foudy are potential pieces, but I think we would have to include Roslovic or even Texier (I wouldn't like that one though). The starting point for a CBJ package would be Roslovic, Bean, Chicago's 1st, and probably one of Foudy/Bemstrom. That Chicago pick will be more valuable than the picks of any other suitor for Chychrun, which is an advantage for CBJ.
The big obstacle for CBJ acquiring Chychrun is the rumored offer of Lundell, Knight, and a 1st from Florida. NYR could also offer one of Laf/Kakko which would also beat out what Columbus can offer. The best bet for CBJ acquiring Chychrun is a three-way trade involving Edmonton.
Overall, I think your hypothetical trade has some solid potential, at least as a starting point.

Big Trade
There are a lot of moving parts in this trade, but I think a three-way trade involving these teams makes a lot of sense. A lot of tweaks could definitely be made to this hypothetical trade, this is just a general idea of what such a trade could look like. Here are my justifications:
Arizona - Receives two 1st round picks, a former 1st rounder in Foudy, a good and young defenseman in Bean, and a flippable asset in Domi that could be flipped for more picks at the deadline. The Chicago pick is currently 8OA and should remain a top-10 pick, it will almost certainly be top-15. The Edmonton pick comes from the Koskinen cap dump to CBJ. The value Arizona receives falls somewhere between the two main comparables of the Eichel trade and Burns trade.
Columbus - Receives Chychrun and Koskinen, the latter being a cap dump from Edmonton.
Edmonton - Receives Phil Kessel to shore up the middle-6, Korpisalo to shore up goaltending, and Harrington as defensive depth. Koskinen is a cap dump and allows EDM to fit Kessel on to the team, the pick is for both that cap dump and the Kessel rental.
This trade assumes that Florida is unwilling to give up Lundell, Knight, and a 1st for Chychrun.

If 3 months of David Savard is worth a 1st round pick, then a year of Seth Jones is getting AT LEAST a 1st round pick. There's absolutely no way this happens, especially if Ristolainen is the "best" piece coming back to CBJ. You might as well make it Seth Jones for Jack Johnson.

CBJ-EDM Jones Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>I'm just wondering why CLB is giving up the first in this deal. They are taking cap dumps in Neal and Koskinen, which would be the first round pick cost from EDM. That leaves Bear and Holloway for Jones, Korpi and Robinson. I'd say it's a pretty good deal for EDM without CLB adding the pick. In fact, I'd say add another pick from EDM with a stipulation if Jones resigns.</div></div>
You're likely right, I added that first from Columbus because I'm not 100% sure on how much Holloway is valued by EDM so I played it safe.

Yeah, which is why Laine isn't going to be traded to Florida this offseason and likely ever. I made this in response to people extrapolating Friedman's comment that "Florida might ask about Laine" into CBJ currently working on a trade with Florida. This is what Florida would have to offer, and they're not going to do that, for good reason.

Who Adds
Kuznetsov has shown he is a bad influence on young Russian players like Samsonov. We have Chinakhov, Marchenko, Voronkov, and Tarasov all either here or coming over in a season or two; CBJ doesn't need a 29-year-old Russian with a cocaine habit screwing up their development, whether or not he's capable of being a 1C. Kuzy does not fit our rebuild and he will cause damage to our team culture. We're especially not trading Roslovic for him, he's 24 and from Ohio, he really wants to be here and fits our window.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LT24</b></div><div>I agree with this maybe Gavrikov also to the Capitals</div></div>
Adding Gavrikov to this trade makes it even more unrealistic. With Jones being traded soon, we can't afford to give up a top-4 defenseman. He's also young enough to be a part of our rebuilding window.

What it takes to acquire Laine
Friedman's off-hand comment that FLA might be calling CBJ about acquiring Laine has sparked some trade discussion despite there being no real evidence that Jarmo is actively shopping Laine. As has been reported, Laine will not be moved unless Jarmo is given an offer he can't refuse, this trade proposal is meant to show what it would take to acquire Laine this offseason. I strongly doubt this trade happens unless Florida REALLY wants to get Laine on Barkov's wing to try and make a deep run in the playoffs over the next few seasons. You can also switch out Domi and Bennet for Jones and Nutivaara.
I'm posting this trade to temper any expectations of Laine being moved, Jarmo considers him to be a key piece of our rebuild and will not move him unless the return gets us a better piece to build around.

At this point as a CBJ fan, I don't think it's a good idea to trade for Reinhart, especially if this is what it will cost. We either go for Eichel or we rebuild, Reinhart isn't a game-changing talent that will allow for a proper retool. Then there's the matter of his UFA status next summer, if CBJ trades for him and he forces arbitration then we will likely lose him the season after. I would much rather see Jarmo try and acquire a good center prospect from a team that's looking to take the next step, a player like Perfetti, Lundell, Vilardi/Turcotte, and so on; maybe even a player like Cirelli if Tampa is unable to keep him due to their cap crunch. Buffalo is looking to sell high on Reinhart right now, they're going to try and win that trade and it will be expensive.
I would also trade Marchenko looong before Chinakhov. The former won't be coming to North America until next summer at the earliest, which is better for a rebuilding team like Buffalo looking to get a high pick next season. Jarmo also took a big risk drafting Chinakhov at 21OA and it already looks to be paying off (he's KHL rookie of the year and won the Gagarin Cup). He's not going to move Chinakhov so soon after drafting him since we're rebuilding, especially since Chinakhov has already signed his ELC.

CBJ-EDM Jones Trade
This is the Jones trade and a cap dump combined together, with Neal and Koskinen being the dumps.
<strong>NOTE:</strong> Korpisalo can be replaced by Elvis if it makes this trade more realistic.
Edmonton would be able to re-sign RNH, Larsson, and Smith for another year. Seth Jones would be excellent on the top pairing with Nurse and being able to play with McDavid and his brother means Edmonton is one of the more likely teams he would sign with. Korpisalo would be the 1A to Smith's 1B and can take over once the latter is done. Most importantly imo, Robinson is a good option for McDavid's LW as he can keep up with McD's speed and is very effective along the boards, he is a vastly cheaper version of Hyman. Robinson would allow Drai to center his own line, improving EDM's depth substantially.
Holloway would have the opportunity to play as a 1C with CBJ, which he wouldn't have in EDM with McD and Drai being ahead of him. Bear would be the bottom-pair RHD for EDM with Jones in their lineup. EDM would give up their 2022 1st in exchange for an extra 2021 1st, that 2022 1st would more than likely be later than both of the 2021 picks they will own after this trade considering their new lineup.
Some possible changes that could be made in this trade involve which picks are traded and whether or not Bear is a part of this trade. It also depends on how likely EDM is to re-sign the players they receive, playing with McDavid is quite enticing and Jones would be able to play with his brother. This trade would solve multiple problems for each team; EDM would get a top-pairing RHD, a starting goalie, a winger for McDavid that allows Drai to carry his own line, and $5 million in cap relief that will allow them to re-sign key players. CBJ would get a good center prospect in Holloway, a lesser replacement for Jones, two players (Neal/Koskinen) that can be used as bait for the trade deadline, and draft capital for 2022.
Any thoughts or potential tweaks to this hypothetical trade? Even if this one doesn't work, EDM and CBJ make for good trade partners this offseason, with a smaller trade being possible.

Laine To Florida
From the reports I've read, Laine isn't going to be traded unless Jarmo is blown away by the offer. I don't think this happens, but such a trade would have to include Lundell and CBJ would have to add extra pieces, probably Jones. I know that Panthers fans and Zito don't want to give up Lundell, but Zito was the AGM of CBJ just last season and he would have a pretty good understanding of what CBJ has to offer.
Unless Florida wants to lessen the load on Ekblad by acquiring Jones and they're aiming for a Cup next season, then Laine isn't going to Florida. I don't think the two teams make for good trading partners.

Insane 3-team trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>If Patrick has no value then why would Buffalo want him?
And Domi is certainly a bust right now and I cannot expect a team to pay 2C price for him.
If Philly has to re sign both players then they shouldn't have to pay full trade to get them and this trade would also send a clear message to Carter Hart which might basically restart their rebuild, negating the need for Jones.
With Reinhart it would be a pretty different trade. I'll put one up tomorrow if I remember and you can have a look.</div></div>
You make good points, thanks for your input! I'll keep an eye out for the trade proposal you put up. I didn't mean to say that Patrick has no value, just that he's lost some value over the years, like a high-end project of sorts. I must be undervaluing him though.
Even if my above trade wouldn't work, I think a 3-way trade involving Jones going to Philly and Eichel going to CBJ is a strong possibility, especially if a Jones extension is highly likely. Buffalo, CBJ, and Philly all have the pieces to make a mutually beneficial trade work, it would be a super complex deal to work out though for sure.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PantsOffnJacket</b></div><div>Damnnn ,Buffalo gettttingg paaaaaaaaid....

You're probably right, I've been trying to err on the side of an overpay for Eichel in my trade proposals. I think the most likely/realistic deal for Eichel will result in the fanbases being at least somewhat unhappy, but still being good for all teams involved. One of my big pet peeves with trade proposals is that people can't remove their homer goggles and create ridiculous and unrealistic trades. I don't always succeed, but I try my best to create mutually beneficial trades, I'm pretty confident that most GM's approach deals with that mindset.

Buf gets a solid overpay.
Sorry man, no way this is remotely close.</div></div>
That's understandable, my thinking here was that Patrick doesn't have much value right now due to his injuries, but maybe not. I wouldn't call Domi a bust either. The big assumption with this trade is that Philly re-signs Jones and Korpisalo, maybe Domi if he rebounds to being a 2C, which is why I made sure that all the teams had plenty of cap space. I was thinking of adding Reinhart to Philly before publishing this, with CBJ sending more assets to Buffalo, but I had already spent a lot of time on this. If Philly got Reinhart too, would this trade make more sense in your view?

This trade is based on the assumption that Jarmo wants to draft one of Beniers or Eklund. Seattle would get Jones who would be their best player and potentially the face of their franchise if he re-signs. Kole Sherwood is the player Seattle would select from CBJ in the expansion draft.
EDIT: I've just realized that Kole isn't eligible for the expansion draft. Just replace Sherwood with "expansion draft considerations".

Massive CBJ-TBL Trade
My reasoning for this trade proposal is that Columbus has the cap space to almost singlehandedly save Tampa from cap hell. Taking on around $15 million in cap space along with retaining 50% for both Jones and Domi would result in a pretty hefty return, cap space is incredibly valuable with the flat cap. Jones would replace Cernak, Domi would replace Cirelli, and Bemstrom/Foudy are both young, cost-controlled players that would fill out Tampa's middle-6. Tampa would be able to re-sign at least one of Domi/Jones and I'm pretty confident that they can rebound on a team like the Bolts; imagine Domi with Stamkos and Jones with Hedman.
The draft picks and prospects coming from CBJ are debatable. You can either replace Foudy with Marchenko (a far better prospect in the KHL that will likely come over next offseason) or remove TBL's 2023 1st round pick from the trade.
