gibson trade partner from left field
There isn't a Gibson to Columbus scenario that could work without Elvis going the other way. I don't think they'll be moving on from Elvis though. One more year to prove if he has it is likely what he's going to get.

Tampa Bay declines. They can't afford $1.8m for a 4th liner if they want to resign Jeannot and Colton.

Nikishin is off the table, otherwise Cane's would've landed Timo Meier IMO. Sharks wanted him but the Canes would not give him up

Nikishin’s potential is way too high to trade. With the high likelihood of him coming over for 2024-25, there is no reason to move him. Even if they chose to move him, there is no chance of that package getting a conversation started.

Ideal scenarios
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jphaxx</b></div><div>As in you don't like them?</div></div>
They are all terrible — every one of them
Mantha is not a power forward with any nastiness — Comtois is and can be when used correctly. Mantha would need to come with a 2nd attached to eat that contract
If we only get future 3rd and 4th rounders for Rico we should just keeep him because he is surely worth more than that to us
Silfvy’s contract expires at the end of next season, Goodrows doesn’t for like 3 more after that and taking on a 2024 2nd doesn’t pay for eating that contract
We have plenty of bottom 6 guys Duhaime really doesn’t do anything for us but that trade is whatever
Lundy should get us more than a cap dump and a 2025 2nd if we trade him because he is a perfect fit as a 3C or 4C
We don’t need a Disgraced captain who is a rental for a guy Verbeek wanted to bring in here

Bedard next steps
Pretty good attempt. I think that's calling up too many rookies on the defense, probably going to get a bit caved in. I noticed you basically stripped Boston of half of their defense.
Andersen isn't necessary, Dostal is ready to play backup and will be much cheaper.
Farabee might be someone worth picking up, but I don't think his career high 39 points is going to push 67 point Terry to the 2nd line at RW.

How do we feel about these UFA D-men:
Vince Dunn, Damon Severson, Dumba?</div></div>
Dumba would be an excellent goon adjacent get, fills a hole at 1RD with Fowler for a few years, sunsets down to 2nd pairing. Great leadership, great locker room guy, throw <strong>HUGE</strong> hits to get the team back in it.
Severson is good, but I would want more defensive focus, looking at a guy like Mayfield who eats huge minutes and is a great shutdown D man.
Dunn is wrong handed, he is likely going to want a big deal, and Anaheim should really be picking up someone for 2-3 years on the left, lots of very strong talent starting in the AHL this season at LHD, one of them likely makes the jump in 24/25 full time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jphaxx</b></div><div>I don't love sundqvist, but i love the idea of a big forward
I think Mac T plays 1C with bedard on the wing to start
I wonder if it's more worth exploring the trade market of a big forward that needs a change of scenery and can come at a good price due to their cap hit/the other team's cap situation. Maybe Anthony Mantha, Brock Boeser, Tom Wilson (doubt he'd be available)</div></div>
Mantha's biggest issue is a low compete/laziness, I would not want him on this roster. Wilson maybe, but he is a huge goon and likely Washington wants too much to move him. One of Boeser or Beauvillier may be a smart pickup from cap crunched Vancouver.

The start
We should sign Zegras for 8 seasons and Terry for 7. Five years for Zegras brings him right to free agency.
I wouldn't go above 5 million or longer than 5 years for Ryan Graves. I'm with <a href="/users/GiggyWithGibby" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GiggyWithGibby</a> -- the other three free-agent signings are unnecessary.
There's a chance that all of Benoit-Olivier Groulx, Simon Benoit and Axel Andersson put in at least some time on the main roster next season, so you should sign those RFAs, too. Whether we should tender Max Comtois his Qualifying Offer is a matter of lively debate among the Anaheim faithful.
Adam Henrique is the ideal leader and two-way player for Bedard/Fantilli, Zegras, McTavish, Lundestrom, Pastujov, Gaucher et al., so I wouldn't be trading him any more. And I'd rather get a veteran RhD in free agency than expend an asset to acquire Zadorov just to play him on his off side. My opinion would be different if we can't land Graves.
I'd be happy to get a 2023 fourth or 2024 third for Jakob Silfverberg in his current state.
I would MUCH rather get rid of McGinn than Carrick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jphaxx</b></div><div>That's one thing is that I don't actually know what MTL is looking for. They seem to have had a good offseason. The two things I based this trade off of was 1) Petry wants to be in the US and 2) Kent Hughes doesn't want to retain or give up assets to move the player. Ducks have some good D prospects (Helleson, Andersson, etc). BO Groulx is a two way center that I feel could help MTL this year or next and Derek Grant for sure can help now.</div></div>
Habs current C depth is
Suzuki
Dach
Dvorak
Evans
Poehling
So they definitely don't need another bottem 6 defensive C , they also have currently 13 F so they don't need a winger as well, the only thing they need is another good RD prospect (hughes also said the habs won't have a problem with keeping petry if the right price isn't there, yes they'll need to shed salary but that's for the future so its not a move they have to make) i think habs will want ian moore and helleson

Looks like he changed it to Nyquist.
I think there'd be something here. I'd counter by taking out one of the picks and adding Bean to the trade. ANA gets a young, cheap, controllable puck-moving D, CBJ get the cap-clearing space, and a one-year RD stop-gap to help hold things over until Jiricek is ready to give the NHL a try.

Nice to see an original trade proposal for petry, do you have RD prospect on the same level ? Habs don't need another prospect in that position TBH

Oh, yeah. I have no issues with the player himself. He probably is a perfect fit. But that contract is appalling, especially since like two hours after it was signed, they found themselves in cap hell.

Rielly to the ducks
Ducks decline.
Yes, Lindholm may leave in free agency next year. But the Ducks still shouldn't get a late 20's D-man to replace him and should spend the money his extension will cost on Lindholm. If Lindholm leaves they should let the kids play. Rielly would create an extreme logjam at LD in a couple of years. Thrun (and probably LaCombe) are nearer to the NHL level than you might think. If Thrun has another good year back at Harvard he could take the 3rd pairing LD spot in 22/23. And giving up Perreault and a 1st in maybe the best draft class since 2015 for Rielly just doesn't make sense for a rebuilding team.

Rielly to the ducks
This makes less than no sense for the team that just finished 30/31 teams
Rielly is a 27 year old pending UFA, there is literally no reason a rebuilding team would give up anything of future value for a player like that.
Rielly will not be targeted by the Ducks, the only team this helps is Toronto
And Keslers "Partially Insured contract" is insured to 80% of the value, he does not have some kind of astronomical negative value to a team that will have close to 10M in cap space once all of their RFAs are signed
The Ducks have no need or use for Rielly, there is no logic to ANA trading for him that makes sense, especially if this is the cost.
The Ducks should be trading away guys that are closer to 30 than 25 and pending UFAs
Rielly will be regressing before the Ducks are good enough to justify this absurd price you put:tearsofjoy

I think he will be the 2nd or 3rd piece in a package deal to get a really good player. Maybe him and a 1st for Garland or Bertuzzi, or him, Myers, and a first for a defenseman. I think if they were to trade him on his own it would be another disappointing young player with upside. Heinen and a 3rd does nothing for the Flyers.
