It's ok if you don't know who Johansson is. He's Detroit's 2nd best D prospect behind Edvinsson.

Good to know a top D prospect, an above average F prospect, a young middle 6 scoring winger, a 2nd in the deepest draft in years, and a 1st is "nothing of quality." Sharks fans are going to be disappointed with the return they get for Timo

Personally, I think a package of Johansson(I’m big on him as a D prospect), Suter, and 2 to 3 2nds is enough to get a deal done in real life(maybe add another player like Zadina or Sunny) but for CF you have to overpay.

I agree it's not happening. This was just for fun.

I agree that the Oilers shouldn’t do that, but reports suggest that they don’t realize that they’re not contenders and that they are looking for scoring and a D man. Green wouldn’t be a rental and can still contribute. Vanek is what he is. But the oilers are desperate enough to not waste a season on McDavid that they’ll try to make a playoff push. Wings would have to take a bad Oilers contract back.

I'd rather have Jarry as well, but I think it would be cheaper to get Dansk and Vegas is more likely to trade him (since he can't be sent down) than Pittsburgh would be to trade Jarry. Jarry could cost 2 2nds or even a 1st but they should defiantly make a call about him.

They can just spend that money in the next few years on a real hockey player. Same with Neilsen in 12 weeks he has 14 points. Jets will forgo his 6 points in the next 7 weeks if he was Jet when Schiefle is on lTIR and save 17m to spend on a real player. Cap dumping doesn't work the way you suggest.</div></div>
Throw a 3rd rounder to the Jets as compensation. Neilsen is a talented player, he just doesn't have much to work with in Detroit. Could be a solid 2nd/3rd C.

Are you referring to the Devils trade where they also got Mike Green for their 2018 playoff push and a 3rd round pick for Ericsson? Or the Jets trade that helped them stay afloat after the Scheifele injury? Or the Kings getting a top 6 winger? The Daley trade is the biggest reach because I don't know if Boston is still interested in him or not.

maybe not, but youll have to overpay for a 24 year old with a long term contract. Green's deal is expiring and he wont be re-signed and Peumpel will never play in Detroit. So you're looking at Nyquist and a 3rd for RNH. Hed be fun on a line with Mantha and/or Frk or Svechnikov</div></div>

Ericsson has every say where he goes, In the 2018/2019 season Ericsson has a 19 team no trade list and i'm pretty sure Vegas is on it.</div></div>
Yes he has a NTC, but if give the choice between playing in the AHL, or playing in the NHL but traded to Vegas, I think Ericsson would waive his NTC to stay in the NHL. Vegas is collecting picks and knows that they are not going to contend in the near future, so taking a bad contract doesn't hurt them since most of their players are on cheap deals. Plus they get more draft picks.

Green and Nyquist
I think the Red Wings would love the trade from a value perspective, but I don't know if they'd do it because of RNH's cap hit and the upcoming extensions owed to Larkin, Mantha, and Athanasiou. If Detroit could find someone to take on Ericsson's contract and found a trade partner to give anything of some value for Mrazek, then it is a yes all day.

Its gonna take either Detroit winning the draft lottery or finishing last in the league for this to happen, you do know that right?
Edit: I just realized it was because you traded for EDM's 1st. Even then, that would A) mean EDM would have to still think they can make the playoffs and B) them be in a higher position to finish in the draft. I</div></div>
Detroit will probably finish bottom 5 in the league. And it's still early for the Oilers. They still have plenty of time to right the ship and if not, any team that needs blueline scoring and/or PP help can take Green

It's still early in the season. MTL can still be in the playoff mix and if Detroit retained some on Nielsen, it could work. And if faced with the option of waive the NTC or play in Grand Rapids, I think Ericsson would waive.

We still want Trouba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>steveospeak</b></div><div>The Winnipeg trade makes no sense. Why would Winnipeg care about dumping Enstrom's salary? He's coming off the books next year and they are currently $7M under the cap. In fact you have them taking on slightly more in salary than they are giving up. Mrazek doesn't carry much value right now, goalies in general aren't that valuable as trade chips and esp. Mrazek coming off a terrible year and with some attitude issues (plus a high price tag relative to his production). And Nyquist and a pair of 2nd rounders don't come close to Trouba</div></div>
Enstrom would come off because in the scenario, Winnipeg would be adding over $9million against the cap. Agree that goalies don't have a ton of trade value, but a 25 year old who has shown signs of being a top guy isn't valueless. So a top 6 Winger, a #1 Goalie, a NHL D-Man(bottom pair), and a pair of second round picks seems like a haul.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Terrible deal for New Jersey. 5m can be spent a lot better than Ericsson. But almost all your trades have Detroit not taking back money which doesn't;t happen much now in the cap era. Would Montreal want 36 year old Zettenberg at 6.1m for four years or Pittsburg taking Helm at 3.85 for four years? My opinion no. They can sign better players cheaper though maybe not this year. The Rangers and Oilers deals might be good because the term is shorter.</div></div>
New Jersey makes the deal for the pick they'd get and to reach the floor.
Montreal needs scoring if they want to win a Cup before their window closes, so they get a proven playoff contributor and obvious great locker room guy.
Pittsburgh needs a 3C and Helm has a lot of playoff experience and is tremendous on the PK. Detroit would retain some on his salary.

Unfortunately, Detroit's defense won't improve until the summer of 2019, when Doughty, Ekman-Larsson, and Eriksson are all free agents. Surly the Wings can land one of them(maybe 2 if they make these trades).

Is the such thing as a quick rebuild?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Well, not like that. There is no way to trade Ericsson, his play versus his contract is so poor. Same with Helm, probably at 3.8m and 4 more years, he can't just be traded for picks. Green, sure trade him at the deadline but don't get back an expensive player. Save the money and make a better off season signing at sometime instead of receiving RHN. And forget about Trouba now. He might be UFA in three years. Then you sign him.</div></div>
Agree with Ericsson but thats why the pick was added, might need to be a 3rd.
Helm still has value in the league as a bottom 6 guy but Wings would probably have to retain some salary.
Most people have Green going for a first round pick, which I would not complain about, but I like RNH (more than most people) and think in the right situation can be a top 2 center(especially if he gets to learn from Zetterberg).
Trouba is an RFA after this season so why wouldn't the Jets entertain the idea of getting a haul for him vs a possible offer sheet? a top 6 wing, NHL d-man(bottom 4), a top D prospect(1st round in 2016) and 2nd and 3rd round picks is a nice package for a pending RFA.
