You didn't even seen him play one game in your life and you're already dissing him?? I mean, give the guy a chance, for god sake! He'll be a very good 3rd line center with some upside. Hard working two way player, Habs fan will love him if he gets a real chance from Julien. I, for one, seen him play quite a bit in the AHL.

At least my mistakes simply came from a lazy misunderstanding of the scenario's parameters. What excuse do you have for yours besides sheer ignorance?</div></div>
Yep you're right! I assume Vesey, giving his age, must have played a season in the AHL before joining the Rangers. I also made a mistake as he's not eligible to be drafted. I'm not Perfect, that's for sure. I went with my memory while responding to this thread and did not checked to be sure. My bad!
But the "sheer ignorance" thing is a bit weird since I made extremely good points in the first reply. Sure I made a mistake, but that doesn't make me ignorant, does it?

Interesting idea.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goldendelicious</b></div><div>Not bad. Though I would anticipate Kings will move out salary this year to make room. Kempe would need to improve his numbers to get an offer sheet that the Kings won't match which isn't a massive overpayment.
For the other trade; DLR is worth more than a 6th, Schlemko is not worth a 5th and Shaw is far more valuable than a 4th & 5th.</div></div>
The old offer sheet debate...a perfect tool, in the CBA, to make teams who overspend on their players or have too much good talents to keep under the cap pay for it. It's so well thought out, yet it is viewed as a huge NO NO from the GM's POV. It's so stupid! They make it feel like it's personal and will hold a grudge against a GM that would use this perfectly legitimate tactic...IT'S BUSINESS! IT'S NOTHING PERSONAL! Business is business! Also, it would benefit lower tier clubs since they usually are the one's with the cap space. It'll help parity and would make GM's hesitate before throwing huge amount of money at UFA's or bottom 6 players in general.
I will never understand the stubbornness of all the GM's to "respect the code" and not use an incredibly good opportunity to upgrade your team for practicly free...it's beyond me!

Best player in each draft
2003 : All of R.Getzlaf, P.Bergeron, E.Staal & S.Weber over M-A.Fleury very easily.
2008 : D.Doughty AND E.Karlsson both over S.Stamkos, no doubt.
2017 : N.Hischier over E.Petterson (he hasn't played a single NHL game therefore cannot be in front of a 52pts 18 years old player)
2014 : 3 way tie between D.Pastrnk, A.Ekblad & L.Draisaitl
1999 & 1998 are absent, but 1996 & 1997 are present...why?
1999 : 3 way tie between H.Zetterberg & both Sedin brothers.
1998 : P.Datsyuk a tiny bit in front of V.Lecavalier.

Yep. I'm fully aware of that and I truly support & accept that this is what needs to happen/will happen. BTW, I'm the biggest Habs fan there is, always been since the early 90's. That's the path to getting back where we belong. Let's strap on and enjoy the ride! Some kids might breakout faster than expected, who knows?!

WPG : Wheeler, Scheifele, Ehlers, Little, Armia, Copp, Perreault or Tanev depending on if you want to get rid of Perreault's contract (Laine/Roslovic/Connor don't need to be protected since they don't have 3 NHL seasons under their belts). Byfuglien, Trouba, Morrissey. Hellebuyck. So that leaves Myers orPerreault or Tanev or Kulikov or Petan or Dano to be drafted.
NYR : Zibanejad, Hayes, Namestnikov, Zuccarrello, Spooner, Kreider, Vesey. Skjei, Shattenkirk, Staal (NMC). Lundqvist. That leaves Fast, DeAngelo, O'Gara To be drafted.
DET : Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, Nyqvist, Nielsen (NMC), Bertuzzi, Frk. DeKeyser, Jensen, Green. Bernier.
Again, NTC & M-NTC don't need to be protected. It's injured players and NMC's that do.

Maple Leafs 2019-2020 w/ everyone signed + ERIK KARLSSON
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsNation2479</b></div><div>THE CAP WON'T EXCEED 83 mill???? REALLY?
First of all. The players did not use their inflator clause this season. I REPEAT ..... DID NOT. So If the players were to invoke their 5% right now the cap would be at $83.475 million. SO please know the facts before you talk out of your ass next time.
I get everyone is listening to TSN and sportsnet in regards to Marner, but do you really think Marner coming off of 19 and 21 goal seasons will get 9M or more???? if you do then please go and seek some professional help.
Kapanen and Johnsson are what they are....decent role players with a little bit of upside. thats it.
Like I said before, if Marner wants a long term deal right now then the cap hit will be low long term. $7mill for 8 years is 56mill and then he will be a UFA at the age of 28. A UFA in his PRIME! Dubas and Shanahan will not pay 9mill for 20 goals and 65 pts. Only a dumbass would. I love the kid too but please be realistic.
My cap numbers and calculations are very realistic. All you have to do is open your eyes and think for yourself.</div></div>
The understanding around the NHL is that the cap will probably rise at 83M$ in 2019 and 86M$ 2020. I'm not making those number up, it's NHL insiders around the league who said that in the previous months. Sure thing can change very fast, but I based my fact on statement made by people who know a lot more than we all do.
My reply was well constructed, well explained, made a lot of sense and wasn't deserving at all of those insults and stupidity your threw at me. I don't know what is your problem exactly, but just take a chill pill and try to understand that there's more than one person/fan who "know what he's talking about". You are not the only one with some hockey knowledge. If you can't debate and receive constructive criticism, maybe you shouldn't be on this site...take a deep breathe before answering me, please

Yeah I think it's a huge risk on the DAL side of the trade. The value is good on both sides, but DAL is risking everything this season and hoping one or both resign next season (both is actually almost impossible without moving Hanzal's contract)...that could be a potiential disaster for them

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>A team is not required to carry 23 players. While many do, there are a handful of teams that carry less than 23</div></div>
Why do you think it's called a "23 man roster"?? They keep 3 extra guys because injuries happens all the time. Whether it's a cold, flu, personnal reason, broken arm, torn acl, etc. There's always a guy missing 1 or 2 games here and there. What happens when one guy is out for a week and you need to call up a player from the minors? There's not a lot of injuries that allowed the player's contract to be put on LTIR (they rarely do)...You'll automaticly be above the cap and that isn't allowed.
That's why teams always carry 23 players in the NHL. On extremely rare occasion, it'll happen that a team will have 22 for a very short period of time, but that gets corrected very fast and is very rare.
So let's stick to what happens 99.9% of the time and leave the extreme rarities on the side, shall we?

The cap won't excede 83M$ (that's the highest projection right now) and you're missing one roster player (and are above 83M$).
Plus : you gave 7M$ on an 8 year deal to Marner lol...he's getting Draisaitl money (8.5M$ x 8) at the very least.
Plus : one of Kapanen &/or Johansson will have a breakout season in 2018-2019 and he or they'll cost at least 2.5M$ a year. So that's 3M$ more (M.M. + A.J. updated contract) of cap hit, so 86M$ still with a roster player to add...
PLUS : Man...look at that bottom 4 defense (#3-4 & #5-6)...I mean, potential wise, it's great! But for anything else, it's horrible! Defense is important, too, in the sport of hockey, in case you didn't know. That D-core would get pummeled by 2/3 of the teams in the league. Forget about EK65, it's not possible for the Leafs to sign him.
P.S. I didn't even mention that horrendous Zaitsev trade where you didn't even sent an incentive for them to even consider talking to you about it...

Nurse for Brodin
The hangup in signing Nurse is pretty simple : cap space.
With Yamamoto up, they have 4.08M$ of cap space with 22 roster players and Nurse unsigned. He'll make more than that on his contract + Chiarelli almost never do short term deals for it's stars.
He'll get a 6-7 years deal at 5.6-5.7M$. So they need to unload at least one contract. The most likely candidates are Z.Kassian or K.Russell...both very hard to move.
So P.C. is in a waiting pattern trying to see if a GM will bite on one of those 2 players for picks (he'll have to send something with the player because he can't eat any salary). Nurse contract can be signed on october 1st, it's not that big of a deal. He surely understand the situation (I hope!)
