Landy back in the playoffs if at all this season
I would think Avs would have to add Mackinnon to make Chicago even think about this trade.

Avs Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Landy is primarily a winger and they could push Lehky or Rodridgues back to the 3rd line by having either him or Monahan on the wing. Why wouldn't they want to upgrade their top 6/9 if they want to defend the title? Trading for guys like Monahan is exactly the type of things contending teams do.</div></div>
Landy takes faceoffs for the most part when he's on the ice so him being considered a center isn't out of the question. Avs have maybe 5 prospects who in the next couple years will make the team, not to mention they have almost no drafts picks. If they do trade for someone than they would HAVE to be on the team next year to make it worth it for them. I agree Monahan has been good but not this good, the only way a trade like this goes through is at 11:59 pacific time on trade deadline day when a gm panics.

This would make the Avs MUCH worse in the short and the long term. Rodrigues is better than Toews right now, so I'm very confused here.

second line center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>He's played C this season and it says C on his card here. So, that would indicate his ability to be a Center.</div></div>
Rantanen has stepped into the center position a few times but is mostly there to take faceoffs. From an Avs perspective you don't want him to be the last forward into the offensive zone which is usually a centers responsibility. Mackinnon is so bad at faceoffs that anyone on his line usually has to take faceoffs which is why Landy says center too but you would never really find him playing the full position. Cheers and GoAvsGo!

Awesome job putting this together! I think Fantilli will be drafted at least a couple spots higher and that Michkov will fall due to his contract status but most of these are spot on!

Might as well add in Kaut from the Avs since Necas and him were childhood best friends. Be interesting if he finds a way to Carolina

He would fit right in
As much as I loathe a plus/minus stat, a -28 is telling on a team who pride themselves on being defensively responsible. I only use it if it's a crazy number one way or another. He would help on faceoffs for sure but at what cost. He plays a completely different game than the Avs run and gun style, I'm not sure he could skate on anything more than a 3C role for us. I could be completely wrong though lol

It's crazy how many people think we're going to miss the playoffs. We have more talent on IR than a lot of teams have playing. Frankie being out has been a bigger problem than most thought too. We're still six games above .500!

We all have our opinions and who knows who's right in the long run, but I do disagree with every word you said. Go Avs! Great to have Mackinnon back tonight!

Colorado Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MeetYourMakar</b></div><div>Good post. I don't want Watson on the team. Not sure what Grant brings(thats on me). Behrens probably makes the jump to the ahl. I don't know if EJ has the legs for 1 more year let alone 2. I would be stoked if he did stick around though</div></div>
I think Avs will go bargain hunting again and I could see Watson going unsigned for awhile and signing on to a contender to try to make more money when the cap rises. Character wise youre right though I've seen some of the same stuff as you I'm sure. Grant is one of those Helm type players, there are always four or five in every free agency. Decent penalty killer and a guy who you can trust out there. I agree with Behrens though, especially with how he looked today in the world juniors. EJ you could be right but I have a little bit of rose colored glasses when it comes to him, he just seems so likeable. Hes playing like a beast out there this year too, though I do think he'll need a few games rest when it starts getting closer to the playoffs. If Byram and everyone are healthy then, Englund has proven he can play that sixth defenseman role and push people around.

Depends on how the rest of the season plays out for him, if he comes back soon-ish and plays well and makes it through you're absolutely correct. If he is out for any more extended time I could see him doing this and seeing if he wants to continue playing, he did already contemplate retirement once, he needs to do whats best for him.

Yeh, I toyed with that idea as well. This season has proven how much depth we need and him still being on an entry level contract he might be more valuable in the AHL with the ability to play in the top six in the NHL if we have another top six guy injured. McFarland and Sakic and utilized those entry level contracts pretty well. I think Behrens will play in the AHL next year too and play big minutes but didnt add him. I still added Foudy to the scratches to bring up the fact he is an NHL caliber next year for sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>The Avs can keep MacDermid, as it stands he wouldn't crack the Kraken's 23 man roster, let alone the starting lineup.</div></div>
I see him as a guy who can be on nacho duty but when hes on the ice and especially in a long playoffs series he would be the protector of the kids. Wright, Beniers and more could be pushed around come playoff time and it might be a good idea to have a big guy to take some of the bruiser duty that Oleksiak plays right now. He would be a good insurance to have as well for a team thats good but doesnt have the organizational depth a lot of established clubs have. Plus, having a guy like him who can play defense or offense is big come playoff time when injuries mount. As of right now you're correct that he just maybe make THIS twenty-three man roster.

Henrique Playoff Lines

I remember texting my brother who's always been a huge Ducks fan that they messed up severely by letting Theodore go to Vegas. If I were Murray I definitely would have traded something to coax Vegas to draft someone else. I actually like him better than Fowler and Manson at the time, Lindholm was always number one to me.

Henrique Playoff Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>We'd be looking for a first for Rico w/ 50% retention. We would really like to try and get the 2023 as it speeds our rebuild up a bit, and pieces on either side could be adjusted for value difference. For example, we could look at sending a 23 2nd with Rico for the 23 1st and something.
Maybe you guys are done with the Kaut experiment, he's a guy who could potentially fit with us, and I hear he has made no friends with the management in CO.</div></div>
I get it from the Ducks perspective but Avs can't give up another first rounder in a row. I'd rather go the 24' first, Marty Kaut, and possibly add in a late round pick for retention purposes. Even if Ducks retain one million that would help immensely once the Avs get healthy and start bringing people back. I've always been a Henrique fan, still can't believe how bad you guys beat up NJ in that trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhysicalGraffiti</b></div><div>Kane won’t be worth what Terry would be on the trade market. If the Ducks make him available he will be the most in demand player in the league.</div></div>
Agreed but I think Kane would always be traded first with his pedigree and since he's worth less. Terry being an RFA could be a big deterrent if they don't know what he'll sign for with the cap only going up one million most likely. Could be a bad year to be a seller, whereas next year will be a great year imo. Lots of injuries creating cap space for this year though, so its anyones guess who will go big

Blackwood doesn't make sense for me in it either, Ducks want Dostal in the NHL. Terry could be a forty goal scorer playing with Hughes. It'll be interesting if Ducks see him as a cornerstone or try to create a bidding war over him, could all depend on Kane and what he garners in a trade too

I like the ideas of all the trades, but they are a bit skewed towards the Ducks favor. Take off a first from New Jersey, change the Jets to a third rounder, the Lightning to a fifth rounder, the Carolina one is right, and a fourth from Seattle. Just my opinion though
