Most of the players I put as signed in here are interchangeable but those type of players are I think what the Avs will look for in free agency, no big names to save room for a couple future contracts.

Kaut may be traded before he's signed as well.

Lemieux is there as an agitator, that's an underrated part of Comphers game that will be missed.

Watson is a bigger power forward who can play that style that the Avs and Bednar want to play.

Grant I think is a near perfect fourth-liner and can maybe win a faceoff or two unlike the team right now.

This is also dependent on Newhook taking a next step both the rest of the season and in the playoffs this year. I still think he sign a bridge deal no matter what, hoping for the same timeline as Necas. If Avs brass doesn't see the improvement he could be signed for a one year contract and Avs could trade for a guy like Henrique or a similar player.

Byram for sure will sign a bridge deal of one or two years, wish nothing but the best for the young star but his long term future in the NHL could be a question mark.

I think EJ comes back for one more stint, he's looked great this year. I just hope he's not giving his all this year and not come back next year, he's definitely a heart and soul type player for this team.

Summary: Avs are in a good spot this year and next year with the cap, after that Avs have to hope for an at least four million dollar increase. Rantanens contract should be a forefront topic with management even if they aren't technically allowed to talk about it just yet. Toews will be interesting and right now I don't think there's any way he'll resign, but that's all contingent on Byrams overall health and future.
