Marner will be at least $12m (slow start to this season - yes - but still over a point a game! He plays all situations and is good for 90-100 points a year - he will get PAID - not as much as Matthews - but more than Willy)
Willy will be $11m (Pastrnak's 11.5 will be used as a comparable - Pasta has been better, longer - so Willy gets .5m less per season)

See previous "star young goalies" the leafs have had Takarski, Riemer, Gustavsson ("the Monster"). The only ACTUAL young star G they had was Rask and they traded him for Raycroft! That worked out GREAT!

Woll looks to be solid, but to say the net is his and it is in good (or great) hands is FAR from a guarantee. Hart locks the position down now and moving forward.

Hanifin base extension/signing is $7-$7.5m

Tanev isn't signing for $3m when he is making $4.5m on his current deal.

Samsonov isn't taking a $1.5m haircut to be the backup to Woll.

Rather keep Wiily at $11m (Pastrnak makes $11.5 - so Willy would be comparable at $11 long term) and bring up the kids - 3rd line of Voit/Minten/Cowan.

Sign Pesce as a URFA to play with Rielly and no need for Smith at $5m if we keep Willy.

Hart is younger and a pending RFA.
Samsonov is older, more injury prone and a pending UFA

I'd rather have the RFA control of Hart, and his history of a bigger workload over Samsonov.

Woll has been good, not great, and hasn't been tested over the long haul of a full season. Rather have Hart between the pipes 75% of the games, than flip flopping between Woll and Samsonov.

Hart and Samsonov are 99% same money too.

Fail to see how THIS version of the Leafs is any better than the current version!

Durzi, Marchment and Jarvis would certainly be nice pieces to have at this time. however - are they BETTER pieces than Tavares and McCabe and Muzzin (no way to predict his injury issues and no way was he a waste the first few years he was here - he was quite the D stud for the Leafs when he was healthy.

2x1st for 3x2nds + $$$ retention seems about right to me!
and
5th and 7th 2024 for future 4th and 5th sounds about right to me as well!

I don't get where the valuation is so far off!

Issues I DO see...
From the Flyers side - I get it - they can just try and sign Nylander as a UFA - but there is no guarantee that they will be able to to. But to land a big fish like Nylander AND upgrade 2nds for 1sts while rebuilding is a BIG WIN!

From the Leafs side - Losing Nylander, especially after the start he has had is a big loss to the top 6, but to get a better G, a much improved D corp and extra depth up front in exchange for a player you may not be able to sign while also re-stocking the draft pick cabinet... that's a WIN!

And if signing Kane does come to fruition as a result of moving Nylander out - is there really much of a drop off in production in the top 6? yes, some, but not a TON I don't believe. And if Kane chooses NOT to sign with the Leafs - they have $1m in cap space to add someone at the deadline as/if needed. again - WIN!
