Canucks still have to add.
Petey -> Jack Hughes is "mostly" fair. I argue you add as the Canucks still.
But Luke > Willander.

Well when one team snags the big fish, the rest panic. And over pay drastically to ensure they get a guy. The actual deal was an overpayment for a reason, Jets wanted a piece. Canucks jumped on it first. Jets over pay to get their back up plan.

Are you out of your mind? He was traded for a 3rd liner and a prospect who was drafted in the teens who hadn’t shown great progression. Not even in the same stratosphere.. Buffalo fans hated that trade and so did everyone. If the Canucks got this return it would break the internet.</div></div>

Wayne Gretkzy, Eric Lindros, Jack Eichel to name a few.
I'm sorry but your teams assets are not worth as much as you think they are lmfao. Anything short of what I mentioned for Petey is completely insane, and if you think that then you are FAR FAR over valuing the assets your team could be trading. You don't get a top 15 center in the NHL for 2 seconds, a top pick, a second pairing guy, and a 3rd liner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>Really? A top 5 pick, a #2/#3 D and two 2nds? Seems more than fair imo. That top 5 pick alone is worth a **** ton.</div></div>
This does not help Vancouver at all in the position we're in. We lose a PPG center/winger, who plays a very good 200 foot game. For magic beans in the draft picks, someone who will be a 3rd liner for us, and another guy who would be stuck right in the middle of our defensive depth chart. The value alone isn't even close to fair.
A starting point would be the 2024 1st, one of either Reinbacher or Slav, then one of either Guhle or Dach. Opposite positions for the last two here.
But you're a habs fan so I'll assume you'll laugh and say this is far too much.
But Petey is a top 15 forward in the NHL. You don't get those for handmedowns

Lindholm is better regardless. The Flames system is not about scoring goals. 9 out of 10 people take Lindholm, the 10th person is a Habs fan thinking Mony is the second coming.

He's not getting that much return from Vancouver. There is far more better options. He's not a second line center for us. He'd be a good 3rd liner.

Canucks decline. Paying way to much for who would essentially be our 3rd line center (thirst line and lotto line being the top 6)

You'd be able to acquire him for less than that.

I don't think they'll get much out of retention otherwise. But sure replace Arizona with any team essentially. Arizona doesn't have anything they'd want to retain on themselves, also stock more middles gives them more options to move middles for a first. Teams with their own first still, but a bare draft board cupboard will surely listen to a 20's~ first for 1 or 2 picks in the 40~80 range and 1 or 2 in the 75-120 range

3 way change of scenes
Ignore the Reilly Smith duplicate.
Essentially its
Kuzmenko (10% retained) -> Smith + 2025 3rd
Smith + Bloom + 2024 4th -> Tarasenko
Gives the sens option to keep or flip smith afterwards.

change of scenery
This is a hilarious over payment from the penguins for a struggling "in the dog house" guy. While I think Kuzy would work under the penguins system, his value is pretty much cap in cap out, or a middle round pick at best right now. Smith for Kuzmenko with the penguins adding a 3rd or 4th round pick would probably work for both sides. Kuzy is younger, and has more skill so he'd hold more value.

Kuzmenko changes scenery
Buffalo would want more, I think this would work for both sides if a deal could be figured out. Kuzmenko is not working in Vancouver anymore, he needs a change of scenes.

Yah for sure! I think Kuzy would work in a system like the Pens, or Anaheim though. Not that hard grindy style.

Van loads up for the playoffs Sens start their retool
This is very bad for the Sens. Canucks are literally getting 2 prime assets for a 1st, a few late round pick value items, and a neutral roster player for cap reasons.
Getting BOTH of those players with retention definitely would require Lekkermaki or Wallinder being involved.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>What's with Kuzmenko anyhow? He looked pretty good last year but this year he isn't worth his salary... Good for Vancouver that he's UFA next year but really bad for them trying to trade him now. About the only way the Flames would be interested in him now would be at 50% retained. He is a right shot forward who can score goals and that's the Flames biggest need right now.</div></div>
A few things.
1. He does not play the style Toch wants, he isn't a hard fore checking dump and chase guy. Which is the style Toch likes to run on the offense. And when they do carry it in, he is never the one doing it and when he does he loses it 90% of the time.
2. He often doesn't play the right defensive position and make the right play, hence why in road games or "important" games he's been scratched or benched in close games.
3. He lost his bumper spot on the PP to Boeser, and lost his "trigger" man spot on the top 6. So his lack of production is largely impacted by that.
He really needs a change of scenes or change his play style. But as mentioned, his contract having 1 extra year beyond this one, hampers his ability to be traded without retention. I do think he holds positive value, he still obviously has skill. He just needs the right system (like what Bruce there it is had).
Kuzy would not be a negative asset in a move, he'll probably be a neutral asset for cap reasons. IE Beau in the Horvat trade.
I'd argue Lindholm and Horvat would gather about the same value. From a perspective in this trade to bring Lindholm to Vancouver. I'd argue 2024 1st, Raty, Kuzmenko, 2025 2nd -> Lindholm + 2026 3rd(getting it back) is fair.
Or swap could see a swap of Raty for Brzustewicz or Hoglander, but then I don't see the 2nd/3rd above being involved then.
The 2025 2nd could be anything of fair value, due to the Isles pick last year was protected due to the potential for it being a top 12 pick being high, where as Vancouvers honestly is looking like in the 26-32(I hope it's 32) range.
