Trading Down to Trade Up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsCanucks</b></div><div>Fair enough, it did seem a bit unlikely, but I've spoken to a couple Flames fans who would.</div></div>
The only way I see them doing it is if Lindstrom is available, but if Lindstrom is available Montreal is just drafting him.

Trading Down to Trade Up
If all the RD are off the board like in this scenario, I could see the Sharks doing this. I’d prefer they just keep the pick and draft MBN though.

You should have read the comments on the athletic article. Flames don't do it.

Guessing Montreal's List Based on the TSN Article
The three people that Montreal is currently high on are:
Demidov
Lindstrom
Iginla
Normally Montreal values hockey sense, compete, and character in their prospects. The three that make the most sense are Iginla, Sennecke, and Stiga. Yes Montreal has been drafting bigger prospects, but those 3 things are what Hughes and company value the most.
Lindstrom doesn't make a lot of sense for the Canadiens given his compete level in the playoffs, I didn't like the way he played. Demidov is from Russia and he would 100% be the pick if he's available. Montreal would have to win the lottery in order to get him. Iginla checks all the boxes: goal-scorer, physical player, but also has the hockey sense, character (Jarome's son), and compete (had a solid U18 and was the driving force for Kelowna).
But the question is, how do you know that certain players have met with Montreal?

Just ignore at this point.
If you don't target a dman he complains, but apparently NJD doesn't need a dman.
He whines if you buy a goalie
He'll whine if you go after forwards.

Predictions vs Reality in the 2023-3024 Season
There were a lot of injuries to key contributors on the Ducks this season, we only got half a season of Leo, 3/4 a season of McTavish, 1/3 a season of Zegras (1/6 where he was actually healthy) and Mintyukov was down for a spell as well.
Here's to hoping next season, with the addition of Cutter, we move up to 4/5 in the Pacific. Calgary and Seattle should be catchable to jump up.

Just because, crazier things have happened.
Nothing like this has happened ever. Eiserman isn't close to 1 and Celebrini is far and away the best player in this draft

DRAFT IGINLA PLUS TRADE UP FOR DICKINSON
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsCanucks</b></div><div>Why is Reinbacher our 7th defenseman in October 2026?</div></div>
Well how about we trade Barron and move Reinbacher on the 2nd pairing and put Dickinson as the 7th Dman
Hutson - Guhle
Struble - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
(Dickinson)

They also literally acquired Declan Chisholm through waivers off the Jets for just that reason. They took Faber off PP1 to utilize Chisholm there instead. So your argument is void regardless and irrelevant to begin with.</div></div>
ah yes how i could forget Declan Chisholm, who has 6 points in 24 games. Elite PP quarterback

Solid list the two prospects the one prospect that you missed out on was Teddy Stiga. He's near the top 10 in my eyes, second best skater in the draft and elite defensively.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsCanucks</b></div><div>This would be quite a shocking result. A 20-year-old drafted in the 1st round and an over-ager drafted in the top 20 would be neat.</div></div>
To me, watching Romani he plays like he was a first rounder last season. If he doesn't go top 32 id be shocked. Becher is more of a reach for sure but we always see that in the late first. Not necessarily DY+2s but reaches, so I wanted to be bold. I also got Nabokov as my #1 goalie and going in the 50s lol.

What will an extension for Shane Pinto look like
With the way the cap is moving and how highly I value Pinto, I would say 8 years probably looks like 7x8 because it will be his only big deal throughout his prime and the Ottawa tax. Good point about him not being traded, but if you do.... lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsCanucks</b></div><div>I didn't want to trade any of the picks for this, so everyone stayed at the spot where they landed after the lottery simulation. Catton would be a good choice for San Jose too (I have them both a fair bit higher in my rankings), but I do think Buium could be a big upgrade over the Shark's current LHD prospects.
Demidov would be a great pick at 2; I have him second on my rankings at the moment. I think Lindstrom is a lock for the top 5 though, so he'll probably end up a lot higher than you'd like if you're not sold on him.</div></div>
Yeah that's fair, pretty impossible to account for potential trades.
But I think Mukhamadullin has a similar ceiling to Buium and is essentially NHL ready, then they have Thrun who's shown to be a really solid 2nd pairing guy already in the NHL, then obviously Ferraro who's only 25 and a really great 1st pairing d-man when paired with a puckmoving RHD, and Cagnoni who is more and more impressive every week and could be a really special player. I feel all would be hard done by to be on the 3rd Pairing in the future.
Yeah I could really see Lindstrom go anywhere between 3-12
