TML 2019 the most expensive player in NHL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Laudan</b></div><div>Main CHI representative detected : check

BOS: Maybe you get Cam Fowler for that, but not Manson. I realize Fowler is LD and not RD, but Manson is a pipe dream. Pesce is another TOR pipe dream, so don't go there either.
Marleau trade works for all. Can't get much closer to the family in SJS.
Larsson trade would help EDM turn the page with new GM/coach and build depth in their lineup [beyond CM, LD and RNH]. Makes sense.
I think this is the first TOR GM that I've seen signing that forward trio for a combined total over $18M. I have an over/under bet with a TOR fan on that number, but with the salary cap being less than $83, I'm not nearly as confident as I was in January. I don't think Marner will be over $12 AAV, but I think KK will be over $3.
I would like the Bruins to offer sheet KK, AJ and Pavel Buchnevich in succession (offer the next one $4M AAV as soon as the team matches the previous player's offer). Whoever they get can play RW on the second line.

Nothing short of remarkable
So Bergervin is making these deals?
I'm sure the media will compliment his ability to admit his mistakes and get back the players that he once undervalued.
I would love to see it all just for the daily articles.
Drouin gone. Sergacheva and PK back on board.
I think I would have get the NHL center ice package just so I could watch every regular season full game.
I hope all of the above happen.

I agree that Backes (and every other player with the chance to) would decline going to OTT. OTT must be ahead ow WPG on 'No Trade' Lists.
I agree about Duchene.
Panarin is just a pipe dream.
Wings trading draft picks when they are rebuilding doesn't make sense - correct again. But Krug can put some fans in the empty seats.
But in your comment: did you mean that 'All Goalies suck'?

Take the draft picks out of the DET deal and ask for Mantha instead. AA doesn't enter his own Dzone unless it is for a line change.
I am not a Duchene believer, but if he would take only 6 years, then fine.
Breadman is not going to like the Boston weather or state income tax, when he has more attractive options for either equal or more $.
Lauzon doesn't make the NHL roster with Chara still there.
You probably need to include JFK or another prospect to get OTT to take Backes.
Maybe call it a tune-up instead of a rebuild, because you are "only" moving 2C, 4D and 1G. ;)</div></div>
What I mean is: the 2nd line Center, the fourth best Dman, and the #1 Goalie on the team.

The Bs are Killing Me
UncleRay - You should have stopped drinking after regulation ended last night.
Regarding some comments: B's don't want Zaitsev at $4.5 for 5 more years with all the young D they have coming up. Zaitsev is at best a #4 D. That is way too much money for that spot unless they are a high scoring power play points machine (like Krug). I actually don't mind Krug, when you look at the stupid $ that Yandle and some other 40+ point Dmen have gotten. Not sure if you remember when the Bs had THE worst PP in the playoffs. Without Krug that PP gets too "pass around the outside until the ice melts".
No way Backes waives his NMC to go to OTT [what location is worse in the NHL?] - AND to move him you would have to add a 2nd round pick and a prospect.
$4.5 for KK is fine, but don't trade for him - offer sheet him. If TOR matches then offer sheet AJ - either improves the team speed.
One more thing: Wagner plays on Coyle's line next year. They have success and the Bs extend them both.
Zboril is behind Uro Vakenieneineinen at LD. Hopefully Chara retires to make room as Moore looked MUCH better than the beginning of the year.
I'm not on the trade Krug page at all, but If you have to trade Krug - I agree it will never be to TOR (at least not direct) - get me a young winger (but more than JP from EDM)
McAvoy is only going to take a bridge because he thinks he is the next Bobby Orr (but better). Kid's ego is bigger than Texas.
Throw Heinen in as the Backes sweetener.

Skinner signing for the length he got with NMC is crazy, so $10.75 for Marner seems close to 2019 crazy contract levels.
I am curious if Marner or Point will get more AAV and term (and which one signs first).
Agree that TOR and BUF can't make that big a trade with each other due to proximity / TV / geographic overlap.

It is up to the player & agent to sign an offer sheet. The team can match. The only way TOR can prevent it is to sign him (on 7/1?) or trade his RFA rights before another team submits him an offer.

I agree with COL on the 3rd rounder to offload Marleau - but that probably isn't close enough to SJ / his family anyway. Different team with 2nd instead of 3rd should do it.
The rest looks good, but do you think Babcock would be OK with that much youth on the right side D?

What will Yzerman do with cap spcae
Yzerman is smart and lays his plans 4 years out. If you are another GM, and he calls, definitely do not answer the phone.
I am guessing he will sign/trade RFAs, not UFAs. UFAs are past their prime and the back end of the contract usually doesn't work well. It is fine if you are in the team's window to win (like the TJ Oshie contract), and the UFA pushes it over the finish line to a Cup, but the Wings are 3 years out. Yzerman is the best GM of the Salary Cap era. He will figure it out.

Also shows the 'fun' versus reality that you think AJ and a 4th would get it done.

Why would Marner sign a one year deal?
90+ points in 82 games is more than Mathews. I know Mathews is a C and Marner is a wing, but 90 points more than Rantanen and Wheeler. Not Patrick Kane level given the assist to goal ratio, but still more than Tavares. I can't imagine him taking a one year deal.
Maybe a bridge to UFA, but only way I see one year is if Philly or Detroit offer sheet him a one year deal for $14M.

I don't understand why other teams wouldn't just RFA offer sheet KK or AJ at $3M AAV, or why either would take 50% of Nylander's RFA contract when they all scored around 20 goals the year before with similar point per game stats.

New Tampa
The Trouba solution looks good - $7AAV may work. However, even without the state income tax, I don't think Point and EK sign for $8M AAV. I would pay Point more than EK, but that's because I personally think EK is physically breaking down. Point may wait for the Marner contract to get done first. I would pass on Nyquist since TBL will need the $ to pay the goalie.

I don't think TOR will get AJ and KK for $3M AAV, but maybe.
Everything above Pesce makes sense and would be good moves.
TOR would have to overpay for Pesce and KK+ isn't going to do it.
Maybe do KK + picks for C Miller, and Nylander + [whatever else they ask for] for Pesce?

Realistic cup winners
You should look up the definition of Realistic.
Vegas is projected to be over the 2018 even without signing W Karlson (60+ goals over last two years / top 6 forward). You need to find a different dumping ground for Marleau.
I think your # for AJ and KK are low, but we'll have to wait and see. Top six forwards usually argue for $5M+ (Nylander).
I like KK, but in no alternate reality / timeline does CAR give TOR Pesce for KK and a pile of pennies. [I consider CAR hiring Peter Chiarelli as GM to be impossible - and he would be the ONLY GM that would make that trade].

Flip Khulman and Heinen. That top line needs SOMEONE that will shoot.
The second line needs someone that move the puck out of their own zone. Heinen isn't strong on the puck, but he's clever that way.
Scratch Pasta - addition by subtraction - he has been military grade awful.
I liked Wags with Coyle and MoJo.

Paquette and Tanev are smart physical players. Lucic is too old and slow to catch anyone with a hit.
But at least Lucic would drop the gloves and fight someone, instead of cross checking someone in the head when he's pissed off.
I can't wait to hear the justification reply.

I always think of players in three tiers: Top line, 2nd line, and bottom half of the roster. Point and Marner are both Top line talents. Both pass the eye test and the statistics test and have better #s than Nylander. I think it is the lower two tiers that don't get all the $ or years they want on RFA contracts.

Matthews Trade
Hate to see Bracco go in the Marleau deal.
Trade Nylander for Connor, since I can't see ANA making that deal straight up.
If TOR is close to the CAP, why can't CAR just give KK an offer sheet and keep Pesce?
Giving KK an offer sheet of $4m or less only costs one first, one second and one third (which is what is proposed to get Connor, instead of the four 1st round picks for an $8M contract).

There is a reason why some players get passed around for less than equal value.
Dougie Hamilton and Riley Smith are two recent examples. Hamilton is playing musical chairs at this point. FLA basically paid Vegas to get rid of Smith.
Hoffman is the most recent example of a talented player who detracts in the locker room.
The problem with all three is that they should have grown out of the me first attitude by now.

TB prediction
If any RFAs are ever going to get offer sheets it should be this offseason. TB with Point. TOR with AJ & KK.
Maybe the NYR will start a war and offer sheet Marner for $12M AAV just to make the Leafs match it. Glen Sather would do it if he was still there.
I agree that Point will sign for more than Nylander's $6.6 AAV. $10M for a 100 point player is in the right neighborhood.
