Yeah I don’t think the Flyers do this. Laughton could get more on his own

Big moves by the new GM
A couple issues with this:
Flyers are rebuilding. Not really looking to bring in a player with that much salary. Although they are starving for high end talent and the price isn’t that high. However if it was a high end player that was any other position than RW it would be much more enticing. They have way too many RWs on the roster and coming up through the system.
Marners NMC kicks in soon. If he doesn’t like Torts or or Philly then he could wait it out and leave in FA if he wanted to and we get nothing except him helping us win meaningless games and prolonging the rebuild.
Ultimately not the right move for a franchise that wants to build something sustainable

I get the feeling that with most of their core locked up, acquiring Chychrun last year and Giroux on his last several years, they want to make a hard push to win now. If they can’t afford to keep Debrincat and end up dealing him, they are going to want another winger to replace that production. TK is from there and had a breakout year last year and still on a very good contract. I think they’ll feel they can deal some of the young guys for a more immediate impact on the NHL roster.

I actually meant to add the 2024 FLA first as well (fixed). My thought process was that they get out from under Vlasics contract in its entirety ( if they ask him to waive and he agrees) in return they get a couple pieces for their own rebuild and take on the Ellis contract that they can just LTIR. Then they also get another 1st. For moving down 3 spots in a draft where they are still going to get a very good player. Briere might just want to be aggressive

Why wouldn’t they want him back at 2.5 mil for one year? Ghost is a UFA, they already know he works well with Slavin. As far as I know they just didn’t want to resign him at the 5 mil mark he was looking for

I just don’t think frost fits what Torts wants to do. So we get a 2nd rounder in a deep draft as well as a decent vet to help the kids develop . Not exactly giving him away

Provy paired with Doughty could be a home run top pair for them. Pinelli is below byfield, vilardi and Turcotte on the depth chart for young Cs. Grands below Brandt for RHD so they are not even giving up any of their best prospects. And they dump Walker.
TK trade is simple. Stevie Y drives a hard bargain. Plays up Zadinas potential and keeps the higher first. Flyers hope Zadina develops into the player he was projected to be
Provy trade is for 2 former second rounders
TK trade is for a first and a former 1st

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>You're probably right. Unless they wanna bring in one or both Kadri and Klingberg. Kadri in Philly orange is somewhat intriguing</div></div>
They could do one but not both if they moved JVR but I don’t think that’s the direction they want to go. Kadri for one wants to go to a contender. That’s not Philly. And they already have 2 centers locked up at over 7M for the next 4 or 8 years. They’re not going to bring in another. Especially since he’s not a true 1C. And neither are Hayes or Couts.
And Klingberg, they already have Ellis and Risto on the right side locked up at over 5M for the next 5 years and deangelo for the next 2 at 5M. There’s no room for him and even if they felt Ellis was going to be out a while they already have Braun too. But they would be screwed as soon as Ellis was healthy again. They would need to scramble to get cap compliant mid season and would get taken advantage of by a team in a trade who had all the leverage.
I would have preferred them go after Klingberg instead of Deangelo to start with but what’s done is done. Who’s to say he wouldve even wanted to sign here anyways.
Not that Philly fans need more of an excuse to hate Chuck Fletcher but if he were to give up a 1st NOW to move JVR to get one of Kadri or Klingberg but was unwilling to do it earlier to get Gaudreau **** would get biblical and there would be a public stoning on Broad St.

There’s no reason for the flyers to give up a 1st now. There’s not a lot left on the market that they’d want to use that space on. At this point JVR is on the team and will most likely be moved at the TDL to a contender looking for secondary scoring

Flyers have absolutely no reason to do that trade
Brown is cheap C depth who can be stashed in the AHL
Seeler is a decent 7th dman and is valuable as a RH shot
Tippet is debatably the main piece that we got back from Giroux trade.
And you want them to give up all of that for one mid and one late round pick? Doesn’t make a lot of sense. A move like this is only plausible if they were close to the contract limit. Which they’re not

The Torts Turnaround
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>With 11 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 1 goalie under contract for next year we have $7.3 million in cap space this summer. He was asking for at least that much last offseason before he put up 85 points. If we wanted to sign him, we'd have to move multiple other pieces to make it work with little to no cap coming back and no money retained. We'd then be in a bind next year with little money coming off the books, more dead money from the buyouts and Boldy needing a significant raise coming off his ELC.
The Parise and Suter contracts are what's killing us. It would have been worse if we kept them, but not by much. We have $12.74 million in dead money this upcoming season and $14.74 million for each of the next 2 years after that. If we had that money free, we could easily keep him, but we don't so we pretty much have to move him.</div></div>
Well damn they are screwed lol.

This trade is downgrading and forces them to make even more moves to compensate</div></div>
Makes sense. Sounds like the wild are going to be taking a step back next year then. If they are trading their second best forward and can’t take back much salary then their offensive production for next year will most definitely go down

No depth at all. Farabee shouldn’t be moved, he is the only player in Philly who actually looked like a stud even with AC coaching, probably has a career year next year
Sanhiem is easily our best D, losing him would mean we should just rank because no one else plays D
Konecny based on the growth chart of multiple players who he has had similar growth to, is going to crush it next season and have a career year as well.
I like the signings though</div></div>
Indications are that Chuck is going to swing for the fence. They’ve said they want to add top end talent. Well to do that you have to give up talent. Other than through FA ( which right now we can’t afford) there is no way to get that top end talent other than trading our second and third tier talent ( because that’s all we have)

I think it’s debatable. I question whether Fletcher has given up on frost. Sure he showed a little bit at the end of last year but not enough IMO. Monahan could use a change of scenery but he’s young enough to turn it around.
Flyers are lacking quality organizational depth at center and Turcotte helps with that. Provy seems to have worn out his welcome some.
Fletcher wants high end talent. So going out to get Fiala fits that bill. Getting dumba is insurance for Ellis.
If Fletcher is going after a big name coach ( like torts for instance) he’s going to try to upgrade the current roster as much as he can. And after these moves we’d still have quality coming up. With the exception of defense. But I think they draft Nemec or Jiricek in the draft to address that
