The clear and present need is a top 4 RHD, so it would be Dumba. Graves would make a nice long term partner for Drysdale, but I've heard Mintyukovs defensive game has improved significantly this season, so maybe a short term guy like a Reilly or Forbort or Kulikov for a year or two is the smarter play.

I'd be happy to bring Kulikov back for 2 years, be Drysdale's partner for a little bit, and we can then bust him down to third pair or 7th as needed.

You’re right. Wrong 3rd.

Got a week to figure out if he’d be interested in signing long term. Hanifin just fits a lot of holes, top 4 guy, only 26. Feels like the best available name out there that would fit the ducks and their timeline. At some point the picks/prospects will have to be used to make the ducks better but that probably won’t start until next offseason.

Two issues with the Anaheim trade. First, why would Comtois sign a 1 year contract that is half his QO? Maybe he does if he really likes Tampa or feels like he'd get less on the open market but that sticks out as wishful thinking.

Second, Tampa fans love sending Myers to Anaheim and it just doesn't work for us. He's an AHL defender making double what he should. I'll re-sign Sustr and/or Harrington way before I trade for Myers. Both those guys would take a 750k deal without much doubt.

I'm not impressed by a 3rd in 2025, it is insignificant towards Anaheim's rebuild. If the pick was in 2023 it would certainly matter.

Anaheim has zero concern with the cap floor. Spending in the ball park of 16M on Zegras, Terry and Drysdale will make sure of that.

Myers was waived and cleared twice last season. He is an AHL defender and the entire league knows it.

I'll give you that Newhook has a lot of long term upside but that is more than washed out by the Ducks depth at center (which includes McTavish, Zegras, Gaucher, Lundestrom and the 2OA pick).

I would guess that I've seen more than two dozen Boston ACGM's created by your fellow Boston fans that feature Forbort-to-Anaheim trades, and they value him at somewhere between a fourth and a sixth. You should spend some time going back through this month's Boston ACGM's and see for yourself.

Forbort is undoubtedly a cap dump, if he is so valuable the bruins keep him as stanley cup competitors

He is a cap dump, he is worse than Kulikov who we were given for free last season

You cannot build this roster if Forbort was on it, that is literally the definition of a cap dump...

Just because the Ducks have cap space and draft picks doesnt mean they set them on fire

"Realistically" the Ducks Blueline will have Fowler, LaCombe, Helleson, Benoit, Shattenkirk (Teams twitter has announced a Shattys VIP for a home game this season, all but confirming), Drysdale. Thats a full 6 right there not mentioning our prospects Zellweger, Mintyukov, etc...

We can go sign vets that do exactly what Forbort does for league minimum

You can argue Forbort isnt worth half of his AAV, and he surely is not worth his actual salary of 3.5M

There is no scenario where Forbort has a fraction of the value you're claiming, thats just straight up outrageous, this isnt video game land :tearsofjoy

LMAO, how does this screw the Habs?

1. The Ducks aren't trading either of those peices alone for PLD
2. The Habs lose nothing in this deal since PLD is the property of the Jets anyway
3. The Habs keep their own assets and save 8.5 mil + on the cap for the next 8 years.

If you really wanted to screw the Habs, the way to do it is to actually hope Montreal trades for him then signs him to an 8+ mil contract.
