Like the thought, but no way Jersey does that trade. Now they might take Nylander and Mrazek will nothing returned to the Leafs.

Yes. NJD still don't trade 2OA. They keep Zacha and 2OA and not trade for Anderson and 6OA.

Draft
Ah yes, NJ trades 2OA for a dump, some fringy young guys and the opportunity to pick again in 2023, but, not if it's in the top 5.
The counter to this would be something along the lines of:
MTL: 1OA
NJ: Tatar, Bahl, Zacha, Colton White, 2023 top 5 protected, 2023 2nd.

Roster after 2023 TDL and Tkachuk and more
I think it's a bit much for Graves - if the Isles need retention I could argue it's 1-for-1 (Graves might be slightly better but Mayfield has the better hit), if Isles need retention add the 3rd (fair value for ~$1.5M in retention).
I will caution this - Mayfield turns 30 this year and would hitting UFA for the first time in his career. He's been severely underpaid the past few years so I could see him really pushing for a big deal - something in the $4M+ range maybe? Not sure if the Devils would want to do that kind of deal but I do think he could be a good partner for Luke Hughes if you want him at his price.

Actually think MN would do this. Foligno is a huge locker room guy and part of a very good GREEF line and we’re not looking to move him. This price is high and MN accepts I think. They also still trade Fiala, Foligno doesn’t make enough to offset a Fiala extension.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannymills4</b></div><div>It's already been reported by Elliote Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast and by Chris Johnston of TSN that there is a market for Mrazek, He could be easily dumped for a 6/7 in return if a GM thinks they can get him back to his 2018-2020 form for a decent AAV. If the Leafs can fetch a 3rd for Travis Dermott who's worse than Holl (Holl only makes 500k more than Dermott) than they could most certainly fetch a 4-6 round pick for Holl who isn't as bad as Leafs fan make him out to be.</div></div>
Bc there is a market doesn’t mean they won’t have to pay to dump him. That just means teams will take on that contract. Leafs will be lucky if it doesn’t cost them a1st. He makes close to 4m has term and is coming off a terrible year.

Add any goalie you like you still don't make the playoffs so im not sure why youd give up real assets. If you had to chase someone mrazek in toronto maybe , they may want to move on and free cap space.

Ruff was also concerned about Bernier's long-term health due to hip injury. "I am worried. We’re all concerned about long term where this is going to go and what direction it’ll end up going. Worried and very concerned." Ruff said.
There hasn't been an official statement by the team saying Bernier is done for the year but all signs are pointing that Bernier is likely done for the year and maybe his career

Very, very good value for the Bruins in terms for futures so don't get me wrong, this is as you said an overpay and you try to fill the gap of Carlo with Severson so I can totally see how this makes sense
But as long as Bergeron is on the team I still get the sense that they will never leave the idea of winning with him despite getting overpayments (even though after this season they absolutely should look to rebuild in my opinion unless we snag Hertl) and instead of seeing it as an amazing package for Carlo, they'll see that he is better than Severson and they won't help the "win now" mindset
It just doesn't make sense for another team to try and get Carlo for futures from the other team's perspective because of what I have to imagine is the Bruins' internal point of view of the team right now
In short, I say the Bruins SHOULD ABSOLUTELY accept, very likely won't in my opinion

I appreciate the concept you’re suggesting of openly overpaying, and i don’t this trade is necessarily bad value, but if you look at Boston’s needs, i just don’t think it does anything for them.
So lets start with the d man swap. I think the bruins downgrade in terms of the player. The player they get is older, and only has a year and a half left on his deal as opposed to five and a half.
Then you’ve got Nolan Foote, 21, had a cup of coffee in the NHL. Been mediocre in the AHL. I’ll be honest, I just don’t think he’s an NHL player. Doesn’t do much for boston, he’s a lottery ticket.
Then we’ve got this Shakir fellow. Devils fans have straight up told me that his floor is carlo, and his ceiling is mcavoy. Ya, okay. I certainly don’t watch a ton of KHL hockey (if any), but is 7 points in 34 games this season really getting anyone’s rocks off? I think at this point, the value the Bruins would see in him is the possibility that some team might value him, and they could flip the player.
Boqvist is organizational depth I guess? The bruins have plenty of it.
So I just don’t see what in this package makes the bruins start saying, “maybe we should move this guy that we don’t want to move.”
I think if you want Carlo, start with a legit, young 2C with some term, of at least some team control.

My French is bad but
I think Devils rather do a prospect-prospect swap for Boqvist
They already have a 7D in Jaros
A RHD prospect that needs a change of scenery would be the ideal swap

I maybe a Leafs fan, bit I absolutely love this Jersey team. I have said to friends I think they hang around the playoff hint THIS year longer than people think.
A long term top 6 that, if all goes to plan, just maybe one of the best in the NHL in 2 years. Hughes and Hirscher as a 1A-1B option enter the same conversations as Petterson and Horvat, Mc Jesus and Draistl (ok, they are on a different level), Scheifle and Dubois. The depth on wings is insane, as is the C depth (noting Zacha can slide back if need be).
Fitz's work on the blueline has been fabulous. Although they will need a RD after PK exits, it is a 3rd pairing RD - which are very easy to find right now. (Smith and Graves balance out the LD sooooooo well).
Depending on how Smith's game grows this year, the 3rd pairing very well be put together internally, but a savy vet signing could move the needle again. For that matter moving Johnsson for a similar contract works too. Fitz has options.
Blackwood for remains the biggest question mark. I say this knowing he has the game, but with a much improved blueline and forward unit, improved numbers should also follow suit. If Blackwood remains Blackwood of 20-21, I think this may become the biggest offseason need. If we see Blackwood 19-20, well, look out.
People spend a lot of time talking about the Rangers rebuild (and it's been impressive) but this Devils rebuild has been 100% on point over the last few years.
