The 1st in the Dach deal was 13th overall. The Jets pick would be much later than that.

Montreal Canadiens 2024-25
I like the thoughts above but have a few comments:
- I don't see Montreal moving out two of their young D in the offseason unless they are part of a more impactful return. I expect the Habs would want to move on from Barron with Mailloux and Reinbacher coming, and Krebs seems like a good candidate as a "change of scenery" trade for both. I don't see them adding a Myers if they plan to continue playing Guhle on the right side. Kovacevic is a good 6/7 who can step in when needed. For now I expect they will keep as much of their D depth as possible until waivers comes into play, or a better trade comes up.
- Henrique seems very much in the Dvorak mold - not flashy but can provide some secondary scoring and solid defensive play. I expect he will want a 2-3 year deal at around that $ figure.
- I expect they will keep RHP around as a depth guy where they are low on F prospects who can make the jump, and are likely to not qualify Ylonen. I tend to view him as a replacement level player at best, but he fills a need for them next year unless they add 2-3 pieces in the offseason.

Summer
Habs fan here. Can't see Barron returning a late 1st - I expect the Flyers see York/Drysdale as better offensively, and similarly not physical, so don't see a spot for him there with his current defensive deficiencies, and no PP spot. Ylonen I expect will not be qualified and can be had for free.
Lundell deal is interesting. If the Panthers sign Montour and Reinhart there won't be a lot of cap space to sign Lundell. WIth his down year, I expect he won't command a huge ticket though, so a two year bridge deal at a low cap hit the most likely outcome. While Farrell and Heineman both have NHL potential, as it stands currently neither seem locks to make it, so I don't expect the Panthers would put a premium on these assets.

Walker is going to cost more than that, and likely command an extra year. Tierney is a league min guy. Not a Buffalo fan but I expect UPL may be in a good bargaining spot to get more based on the year he has had.

Kovacevic for a late 3rd value seems right to me. Big RD on a minimum contract who can kill penalties.

I realize this was made just for fun, but to point out the obvious, there will be very little money left to resign Guhle, Slaf, and anyone else who becomes good over the following few years

Year 2 Emerge From Rebuild
They will need to hit around 63-64MM floor next year with around 43MM committed to 12 players and Voracek, Little and Boyd coming off their LTIR to the tune of roughly 15MM. I expect Arizona will want to replace some of that 15MM - especially if the salary is lower than the cap hit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bwhsocal</b></div><div>AZ is no where near the floor and doesnt need price cap hit</div></div>
Price's salary after the signing bonus is paid in the summer is $2MM for the final year with a $10.5MM cap hit.
Arizona added both Voracek and Weber (7MM and 1MM) salary in 2023, Voracek will be expiring this year. A lot will depend on what happens with the Coyotes, but I think it it incorrect to think they wouldn't have interest in a large cap hit with little actual salary in 2025 given their recent history.

Year 2 Emerge From Rebuild
Maybe, but CHI have a long way to go before reaching the cap floor. The return is immaterial to this...make it a 7th if you want. They can use center depth who can insulate Bedard next year, and if he performs, they can retain and flip him for more than a 4th at the deadline.

Sell sell sell
Habs say yes to this but I don't something like this being realistic...Barron hasn't been able to establish himself yet on a poor blueline with a weak right side despite the Habs giving him every opportunity to solidify his spot. Make or break next year for him...maybe Crosby likes the NS connection? I believe Barron/Cros skate together in Halifax in the summer

D changes
Montreal would say no to the deal above. Rodrigues is a good player but with the cap crunch FLA will be up against next year they will likely have to move him for close to zero. Harris/Kovacevic and Evans will all have value - especially Kovacevic at the deadline next year where he is a big right shot who earns a very low salary. Evans seems like someone who will have value too if Habs retain - he is a versatile forward who has some offense, kills penalties and can take faceoffs.

Is this fair for Zegras Be Honest Please
If any Zegras trade materializes I don't think they would need to take on a bad contract like Anderson for a valued asset. Who is available when the Habs pick comes along will dictate if a deal makes sense for both sides. If Habs pick 8 and their targets are off the board I could see a 8OA + 2nd or D prospect working. While the Ducks have a deep D prospect system, I could see them looking to add proven young talent to the blueline like a Harris/Struble as not all of Zellweger, Luneau, etc will likely hit their potential. I can't see the logic for the Ducks in taking on Anderson and Ylonen as a part of this package. Ylonen seems like he is destined for waivers next year and Anderson has been one of the least effective forwards on a bottom 8 team on a long-term deal. Assuming the deal is based around Zegras for MTL 1st/COL 2nd, then I don't see Anderson for Ylonen/Barron and a 3rd being nearly enough to get off that contract. Barron, while still having potential is about a year away from being traded for another project if he can't figure out the defensive side of the puck

Looking ahead with Reinbacher
Habs fan here. While I love the idea of moving Josh Anderson I can't imagine a team in win-now mode would take on such an inefficient contract even with the sweeteners. Only way i see him moving in the next 1-2 years is for a similarly bad contract - perhaps with slightly less term if the team sees a need for a big winger who (used) to be able to forecheck

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>That's what Armchair GMs think but we also thought that for Matt Murray before he was traded to Toronto.</div></div>
Koorpisalo has 4 years remaining on his contract, Murray at that time had 2 (and had previous relationship with Dubas). It's not impossible he moves, but it is impossible he moves to the Habs, who have two goalies they like, and a third at BC who will be coming along in 2025-26.

Habs fan...actually like this deal quite a bit. Ehlers may not fit the timeline, but I think they want to add offensive punch, and he fits the bill and hasn't been able to establish a top line role in Winnipeg.

Korpisalo and his contract would require A LOT more to move off of for any team. Obviously the Habs have no need for this (or for mid-round draft picks). Korpisalo is currently in the "unmoveable contract" territory with Jack Campbell...the sort of area where the cost of moving it makes it a non-starter for Ottawa. Best scenario for Ottawa is for him to reset and rebuild some value

Getting More Young Talent
I expect Habs will not trade Primeau given all they went through this year to ensure they didn't lose him on waivers. He will have a chance to prove himself as a backup the next two years until Fowler comes from Boston College (likely to the AHL in 2025-26). Cannot see Philly looking to move Foerster where they are in a rebuild and he has been promising.

Emerging from the Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KentMcNally</b></div><div>I don't think Montreal needs to trade a young defenceman like Struble to get a 33 year old veteran defenceman that happens to be right handed. If they wanted to get a veteran defenceman to play the right side then they should go the free agency route. This year the following similar type of defenemen are available:
Tyler Myers
Dylan DeMelo
Ilya Lybushkin
Alex Carrier
Colin MIller
Jani Hakanpaa
Troy Stecher
Robert Vortuzzo
Chad Ruhwedel
etc.
No need to give up a young player like Struble for a player that you can get in free agency (for perhaps less than $4M per year as well).</div></div>
My thought process is the following in relation to the players above: Ideally the Habs would find a RHD on a 2 year deal (Savard expiring so would give us one veteran D on the right side in 2025-26). Also it would be best to have someone who can fill in in a 3/4 role assuming only one of Reinbacher and Mailloux are able to fill in the other top 4 right side role.
Tyler Myers - an option but likely Vancouver resign him per recent reports
Dylan DeMelo - good option
Ilya Lybushkin - bottom pair at best
Alex Carrier - good option if you can keep it to 2-3 years at a reasonable cost
Colin MIller - bottom pair and no open role on a PP
Jani Hakanpaa - Dallas fans hate this guy
Troy Stecher - 6/7 but could be a stopgap for a year
Robert Vortuzzo - bottom pair
Chad Ruhwedel - bottom pair
I like the idea of moving a LD to clear a space for RD short term. With Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris (and Hutson, Engstrom potentially coming in the next 2 years) this seems like an area of strength even if Hutson and Engstrom don't hit). If you can find a Jensen type without moving out Struble, I'm with you. I really like Struble's game. With what they have on the left side i think he could be the odd man out (only because Harris is a bit more versatile and can play the right side reasonably effectively).

If Edmonton have an extra $3.25MM (which they don't in win now mode and with Draisaitl/McDavid expiring) they won't be spending it on Gallagher for 4 years. Flyers not trading their captain for a player the Habs don't want.

I agree with your Keller assessment...him and Suzuki are close but Keller has a better offensive track record. That said, I can also see Keller moving - despite being young(ish) there is no way Arizona will be competitive by the time their prospects hit. Montreal is in a slightly better spot than Arizona and will be looking to push this summer...as for the Price contract, Voracek and Little combined is more than Price will be due. I expect Arizona will be looking to replace a similar amount - especially with the cap (and floor) going up.

Habs Post-Deadline
Curious for any Avs followers - how do you see them addressing the backup position? Don't see them trusting Posvetov/Annunen in the event of Giorgiev being injured, or hitting a bad stretch. As mentioned in an earlier post, I don't follow them closely so maybe they are high on them. I believe they are high on Annunen long term based on things I have read.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>M96N29</b></div><div>Allen's cap hit doesn't work for the Avs, especially as they really can't take cap back in a Ryjo trade. Evans doesn't meet their biggest need and Ritchie has the look of a top end prospect that COL won't throw away on a deal like this. Easy no.
Counter proposal? Ryjo for a 6th if the Habs really want him.</div></div>
Could see Ryjo fitting the Kent Hughes/Monahan mold - take a player, put him in a situation to succeed then sell high(er) or let the contract fall off if it doesn't work. Don't see them taking it on without getting another asset. Maybe Colorado like him? I have only watched 2-3 Avs games this year and he was not noticeable. I looked at his ice time and current placement in the lineup and figured it may be a contract COL would really want to move - maybe more likely in the offseason

I don't follow the Canucks but if they are still looking to compete next year, it is going to be very hard to replace Myers, Zadorov, Cole while still re-signing EP, FH. Not to say I disagree - this was more a "best case scenario" roster and in reviewing the Canucks situation it seemed like finding a serviceable RHD who is locked in below 800k would be very valuable.
