Ducks fans would you do this if he re signed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>No way Anaheim does that</div></div>
Agreed. And no way Leafs would retain 5.5 million. Plus Matthews is going to re-sign for more than 12.5 mill. He'll be highest paid player in the league next contract. If he does want to be traded to Anaheim, leafs might entertain Terry and a first or second. Why would leafs entertain draft picks for an established top 5 player in the league. Not to mention rocket richard trophy winner last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Oh wow, here is a Leaf supporter in a "world of hurt"... Truly, you may believe that people/players don't want to live in this ****hole the way it is, but again some rather do enjoy the life style, including players.
Now, as far as your take in your description and offering, what have you offered of value to Winnipeg. Sorry, but what you have documented/written here is an offer to open discussions, starting with insulting Wpg. Now that we have that out of the way, revisit and reconsider with a fair offer.</div></div>
Haha. we leafs fan are used to the world of hurt. Its not about my personal belief, though I have experience living here. Its been documented that the Jets team is among the top ranked teams on players no trade clause lists. https://www.espn.com/blog/craig-custance/insider/post/_/id/9006. You don't think some of the highest taxes in the country, a long winter that reaches upwards of -50 with windchill, a place with relatively terrible nightlife and entertainment, high crime/suicide rates has something to do with it? Don't get me wrong. Great place in the offseason if you're into cabin country and golf, but you can get that anywhere.
Now, as per a reconsideration, I'm totally open. You agree Chevy won't let Helley walk for nothing? Lets say we take away the third round pick. Is that fair? What do you propose Jets receive? I don't agree Helley for Samsonov is an equal trade. Jets could use some promising prospects that could flourish if given the right amount of ice time no?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>I mean not really Wpg gets a good young goalie, a young Dman who was solid in his limited games and a prospect who if healthy has potential. All are RFA's with control. You could throw in a pick but look what Kuemper got
1st + 3rd (was conditional if Avs won cup and he played 50% of games) + Timmins
Like if they planning to blow it up this works as they get young players to build around. Samsonov is 26 and he can be their guy till one of their prospects is ready or he could develop into another Hellybuyck as hes still young. Like its not that unrealistic</div></div>
You're right. thanks for pointing that out re: RFAs. Thanks for the acknowledgement of it not being completely unrealistic. Trying to actually make decent prosposals without un-helpful or well thought out criticism is rare here.
I think Jets have to blow it up. Wheeler & Schiefele are a toxic core that need to be disbanded. Chevedayoff is returning. He has backed Bowness. Bowness went off at the end of the jets pitiful post season. Wheeler spoke out against Bowness' disclosures. Just have to read between the lines. Unfortunately I can't see them moving Wheeler's contract without retaining money, so i expect Scheif to be traded and Wheeler to walk when his contract is up. Not to mention Pierre Luc Dubois wants out. Knowing the "cost conscientious" Jets, they won't risk losing Helley when he becomes a UFA next year. You gotta build around Lowry, Morrisey & Connor. I say adding prospects in Robertson and Timmins alongside Perfetti give some hope for the Jets future. Those guys just need ice time and avoid injuries to establish themselves. They haven't had that opportunity with the Leafs. Plus Samsonov is a good goalie.

Jets aren't my team bud. Die hard leafs fan. Jets suck. Canadiens suck worst though lol. The point is your team is too young and inexperienced, your goaltending is terrible and you're losing veterans. Dubois doesn't want to play another season with the jets. He wants to play for the Canadiens. Canadiens fans would love a frenchmen like Pierre Luc Dubois come and fill the holes of Monahan and Drouin. Montreal won't resign Drouin for 5.5. You gonna rely on the Caufield, Suzuki, Xhekaj and Dach to take you to the playoffs? They just passed puberty. Can easily give up a future un-established Dach for a currently established Dubois. He'd be one of the best players for such a terrible team that is the Canadiens. He put up the same points per game stats as Suzuki. Plus jets throwing in a first round. Would be silly not to take the trade.

clearly you didn't see what rick tocchet did for the last 20 games of the season for the. they have to re-build. boeser, horvat and miller were a cancer for the canucks. they moved horvat. now they can move boeser for schiefele. comparable in points production and salary cap. why not build around sheifele as a key piece?
if sheifele wanted to win, he should have played like a winner for the jets the last two seasons. but like boeser, horvat and miller, he and wheeler are the cancer for the jets. unfortunately, jets are stuck with wheeler's contract. Cheveldayoff would be stupid to let Schiefele walk next year as a UFA and get nothing out of him. plus who doesn't want to live in BC vs the **** hole that is winnipeg.

I hear you. Weegar is going to sign for more money in a year. Leafs can fit him in with their cap space now. Can only afford having quality like that at his price for a year. Could potentially resign him next year if the money is there or he walks and we open up over 3 mill in cap space in this scenario.

In this scenario I had to choose between him and Sandin. In my other 3 options I signed him. Tbh, I think both will only sign around the 2 mill mark. I’m not sure leafs can afford them both even though they are clearly developing into 82 game NHLers. Have a look at my ufa/rfa leafs signings and let me know if you think I’ve over allocated for their true market value. May be some cap space to scrape up?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Yet again, the zombie Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles pipe dream. The Kings aren't interested in this effort to shed significant cap. This is about the fiftieth Muzzin-back-to-LA trade I've commented on this past week, so please take the hint.
Absolutely no interest in installing Jake Muzzin 2.0 even if he would waive his NTC, plus we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Jake's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to re-acquire Muzz. I wish that you Toronto guys would stop doing this. It's like the Montreal guys with their silly Jeff-Petry-to-Detroit trades.
For the record, here are the figures for Edler and Muzzin:
Edler, 41 games, 3 goals, 19 points, +18, 52.1 Corsi, 54.4 Fenwick, would not cost more than $3.5 million to sign.
Muzzin, 47 games, 3 goals, 14 points, -6 , 48.1 Corsi, 47.9 Fenwick, cap hit of $5.625 million.</div></div>
Alex Edler's contract is up. He'll request more. He'll get more because they have cap space and LA has 6 defencemen to potentially lose/sign in free agency. My trade indicates leafs retaining 2 mill, meaning Muzzin will move for a 2 year 3,625 mil contract which will be less money for as you indicated - the same results. LA need experienced defencemen, they can let 3 of their 6 defencemen up for RFA/UFA walk, pay Muzzin, and he can easily slide in as the 4th best defencemen and will still have 7 defencemen. Plus Muzzin has roots in LA.

Need to get rid of Nylander to shake up core 4 and open up cap space. Buffalo will take him and give us a young RW prospect that is cap friendly. Replace Nylander with Perron who has way more grit than Nylander ever will and still produces. St. Louis has to sign O'Reilly, Kyrou, Tarasenko and Thomas next year. All will require more money and 3 of the 4 are right wingers. St. Louis can't afford to sign him and can afford to let Perron walk.
Husso is not a proven starter and in 3 seasons has never played more than 40 games. This is 2 million more than he's making now plus he's going to get starting time, if not, split time with a reliable back up.

Move Dumba & some reserves. His contract is up next year anyways. Nylander's cap hit is 6.92, but you only have to pay him 6 as per his front loaded contract.
