2 years down the road and take the next step
Kane and Marner were just place holders. In the description I just mention picking up 2 big forward FAs.
I know moore has a high ceiling, but this will most likely be his first year in the NHL and he can slot anywhere in the lineup, it doesnt have to be on the 4th line. Again just a placeholder

Does it push EDM over the top
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BankersBox</b></div><div>This would be a very disappointing return on Kane. Hes a rental, but a rental with the potential to be a Conn Smythe favourite. Murphy isnt going to show up on the scoresheet much but he can be a physical dman that thrives in playoff hockey, he is not a throw in.
Chicago doesnt have much leverage in trade talks, but the return for these two guys needs to be better than this.</div></div>
Those are fair points. I figured, barrie could be retained and garner a few picks as well if the hawks would flip him. I didnt want to go overboard on the return, Schaeffer being their first pick this past draft and adding in pool [party. Do you think taking out Dal 3rd and adding EDM 2nd to it would make it more fair?

I was shocked he fell that low and I wanted to grab him when he was still there at 13

Probably starts with Reichel and either a first or beaudin/mitchell. That being said, I would welcome Boeser in the top 6

What do the hawks do with the extra 6.8 in cap space?
Is there any penalty for the hawks since he "cant play due to injuries" anymore as opposed to retiring?

I get that, I just don't see him in the long term plans as a 3C especially with the money he'll want. I would be fine with trading him straight up for a 1st, or even a prospect

Only way the cap works for the hawks is if both those things stay on. It still frees up 3 mil this year and 5 next year

It was more just to find another Dman that could help keith with TOI. Id consider adding more, but just something different than the strome for brodin trades

A recent first round D man, a mid round 2nd, a depth player aren't crap players. The habs wanted Beaudin when the hawks snatched him. Id consider adding another pick, but that would be about it.

Cierreli offer sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>That's right top tax rate in Chicago is 10.25 %. Which equates to 615,000 in state tax paid for 6 million salary agent takes usually 3 - 5%. Let's say 4 that's 240,000. Escrow is 20% next year then between 14 and 18 the next year and then 10 the year after that. Let's say 15% on average. Thats another 900k. Then 37 % federal tax rate is 2,220,000. So the player nets about 2,025,000.00 on 6AAV in Chicago. 4.75 in tampa gets 37% fed tax rate 1,757,500 in fed tax. 15% escrow 712,500 . 4 % for agent 190,000. On 4.75 in Tampa the player nets 2,090,000.00. That is why it is such an advantage for not tax state teams. When considering all factors and the player net income it does work out sometimes between 20- 25% difference in net. Could be worse for Chicago could be California 13.3 percent. There your talking about 25 -30% net difference</div></div>
That 10.25% tax rate is assuming they live in chicago, which many athletes in illinois live in the suburbs. IL also has a flat rate at 4.95%. Agents taking money is a moot point because they are going to take that same 3-5% anywhere the player is, not only chicago. Again escrow is taken no matter where the player plays so it is a moot point again. The federal tax rate doesnt change depending on state, so again it is a moot point. While FL doesnt have income tax (which is incredibly nice), you cant assume all the extra "expenses" just fall on the player playing in chicago and not in FL. We can both agree though that CA screws the players

Illinois doesnt have a 20-25% state income tax

Just keep Strome
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>I4evrblue</b></div><div>I see Kap for Murphy a lot.
I cant say I like it</div></div>
I agree. I see this trade in about 80% of hawks posts lately. I dont remember who said it, but both sides will never agree on the value. Both players are more valuable to their own teams. Murphy is a huge piece of the right side right now, and the hawks cant afford to start 3 rookies on D. Wingers are fairly easy to replace via free agency or bringing up someone from the AHL. a top 4 D is way more valuable to the hawks than a top 9 winger (which is what kap is unless they move saad).

Remake team for 2020
I'm curious why everyone hates on Strome not being able to produce without the Cat. I agree with you that his production is not good without him. However, wasn't the point of acquiring Strome to give him a new start and reunite him with the Cat? Hes produced at a (.73p/gm in 2019 and .87p/gm in 2018) with the Cat. Those are solid numbers for a 2C/3C, and the Hawks have the leverage and stats to back up their next contract with him and I believe his contract will reflect that.
While it does provide less roster flexibility with Strome only being able to play with Debrincat, production is production. Once Debrincat starts to shoot at his average shooting % (15% in 2017 and 18% last season), Stromes production is going to increase dramatically as well.

Its a retool not a rebuild
There would be 16 Mil in cap space. 6-7 mil for Crawford, leaving 9-10 for Debrincat, hayden, gustaffson, and kahun. Manning would come off. Should be workable
